We have just a DVR, Mark. We only have one box, on our main TV. You just pay a monthly amount on your cable bill and it is really, really easy to use. Play, pause, rewind, fast forward. Very, very basic. It doesn't have the same fancy search functions that TIVO has, but it does the trick especially if you want to record the same shows over & over.

Exactly what Amy said. We have a DVR too, one box, main TV. The thing I like best about it is I never miss my shows!

If I had a million dollars that I had to spend I think I'd start with a home in Florida. One with a pool and a pool house for guests.

Then since I finally had my Florida home a new VW Beattle convertible.

I'd sell our house up here to Mark's brother at a very resonable rate.

Then I'd look into an around the world cruise. Maybe even tie in visits to the Disney parks in Japan, Hong Kong, and Paris.

I'd also work with a financial planner to see how I could use the rest of the money to never have to work again!

Way to go, Diana. :cool1:

GTKYFC Question of the day ----

If you could change one choice you made when you were younger that possibly altered your entire course of life, what would that be?

After 2 days, I am finally caught up with all of the posts, so I thought I would go back & answer some questions:

I've often thought about this & would have said my major in college but if I would have done that, I wouldn't have met Mike & his 2 wonderful children. So, I would say - I wouldn't change anything. I truly believe there is a reason for everything that happens, including the choices you make. :flower:

Since Cindy posted the getting to know you question I'll help add to getting to 10,000 by posting a fluff question.

It has been 303 days since we were all calling Member Services to book this cruise. In honor of those 303 days what 3 things have you most enjoyed about this meets thread?

1. Getting to know GREAT people

2. Gaining alot of knowledge about DCL - this is only our 2nd cruise

3. Anticipating what FUNNY things I will read when I get home from work.

Okay, Mary bailed me out. These should keep it hopping here for a while. Here are some new GTKYFC questions ---

1. Favorite pig out food: Anything chocolate

2. Nickname: Twinkle Toes - my grandfather called me this when I was little, obviously, because I fell alot.

3. Favorite Childhood memory: My grandfather taking me to the circus, for ice cream & anywhere else I wanted to go.

4. Personal heroes: Grandmother, Grandfather & Mom - they have all passed away and were very important influences in my life

5. I've never been able to: be really messy.(I know that sounds weird)

6. If I could do it over, I'd:wouldn't change anything.

7. I'd give anything to meet (& why):my real dad - it won't happen soon because he passed away many years ago.

8. If I could change one thing about myself: I would be less serious/structured.

9. People who knew me in High School thought I was: smart.

10. My most irrational act: I'm sure there are several but I can't think of any at the moment.

11. If I've learned one thing in life it's: enjoy the time you have with the people you love.

12. Major accomplishment:going to college(it took me quite a few years), marrying Mike, helping to raise Brian & Kelly(my 2 stepchildren)

13. The three words that best describe me: organized, shy, caring.

Lisa

What are your three favorite Disney films?

1. Lion King

2. Beauty & the Beast

3. Fantasia

Lisa :cheer2:

Hi I love XM too. It came in my Suburban along with Onstar. I chose only to renew XM and I renewed it so that I can listen to decent music on the way to Disney.

Amy,

Please put us down for a 2 seater car. Thank-you and Chris for doing the work to secure a discount for us.

Do you think it is possible to anticipate too much about something (like this cruise) that the reality is a let-down?

I think it is but with Disney, I would never be disappointed. I love it too much.

In the spirit of getting to know each other and trying to get to 10,000 posts, here is a question for all of you...

If you won $1,000,000.00 what would you do with it? Rules are:

  1. You have to spend the entire amount
  2. You can't put the money into savings or a non-material investment
  3. You must spend at least $250,000.00 on yourself/your household (can't be for kids college etc...)

I would:

pay off bills

remodel our house

buy more DVC points

travel more & take family & friends w/us - DL, Australia, Hawaii, Alaska Cruise - to name just a few

Help out my MIL & FIL, 2 stepchildren, 2 sisters & DH's brother & sister

Donate money to Charities - American Cancer Society, MS Society, Make-a-Wish Foundation, Local Humane Society.

Who do you see to do this?

You can call DCL ahead of time and have it noted on your reservation. Otherwise just talk to your server on the first night. I'm not sure if they will do it the night you ask for it, but it can't hurt to try. There's a cool white chocolate sliver with a picture of the ship on it - bring your camera to dinner that night.

We don't have a TiVo but we do have a media center computer hooked up to record tv. It works much like the TiVo. It has an additonal feature since we run all our computers on a wireless network we can send recorded shows to any computer monitor in the house. Love being able to skip all those commercials. If there is something we want to keep i.e. a movie we can burn onto a dvd or store on the hard drive. I am in the process of loading all my music cds to it so I can listen to a shuffle mix of cds or just one artist at a time.

We will be celebrating my birthday on the cruise so I might have to ask for that special cake. :earsgirl:
