Sept 4-8 2005 Wonder S.S. Member Cruise! Part 3

Last Friday we were crazy busy…washing sheets and towels, cleaning, packing the cars, closing up the condo, etc. I was on here early that AM and was so worried that I’d have soooooo many posts to go thru. It wasn’t bad, and I’m now all caught up. I was so sad to leave. It really went fast. Friday took a lot outta all of us and really made the point, “we were not in a HOTEL.” However, I didn’t mind that so much. We all pitched in and got done sooner than expected. We head for a bite to eat at The Market Street Café and then went back to the condo for the dogs and we set-off for NJ about 7:30PM. Were were home around 4:00PM on Saturday (hit a lot of unexpected traffic on I-95 in DC, Maryland and VA Beach areas). It was a tough ride since we didn’t sleep over anywhere, but we had six drivers and two cars so it worked out as best as it could. NEVER stop at South of The Border. I begged my parents to pull in at 3:30AM when we reached it since I hadn’t driven to/from Fla. Since I was 12. It was sooooooo bad (read sleazy). No offense to those of you that like it, but it had me in shock…next time we’ll drive right by. Anyway, Saturday we were zonked and Sunday I was up brite and early to un-pack so I could re-pack : ) I’m all set, except for my last minute stuff. DBF thinks I’m totally nuts. I packed way toooooo much and all the stuff that I “needed” from chatting with all of you took up more space then anticipate…but who cares : ) I went to the SB store last night and just filled up a basket. Of course it came to more that we were supposed to spend, but when I got home I laid it all out and picked the stuff to include and kept it within the budget. I had a huge smile on my face as I was putting it together and I think I wrapped it cute so I can’t wait to see the face on the person who gets it! Shhhh…I’m catching up at work and I better get going. Have work at TDS tonight so I prob. won’t be on again until tomorrow ~ TTFN!

Reality TV is one of the biggest reasons I love Tivo.

No TIVO for us either. :rolleyes1 Just basic cable. :earseek:

TIVO is my friend too! I love it - that's how we watch Survivor ... no commercials or bad product ads!

Ok what do we have to show to rent the cars? I'm going to try and convince Matt to be the driver so that I can be hanging at Margaritaville :cool1: :sunny: but normally on vacation I'm the driver (better with directions)

I'm going to guess a driver's license for one and probably a major credit card......just in case you drive a little far and dump into the ocean. :earseek: :rotfl:

I have not kept up with this thread but am interested to know if anyone from the Philadelphia area is going on the cruise. We are from Delaware County and this is our first cruise. It is in celebration of our 35th Wedding Anniversary (8/29) and we are so looking forward to it. Have tried to get reservations to Palo and massages but were not successful when calling. Hope to at least get Palo when we get on the ship. We are staying at OKW the night before and the night after before flying home in time for my mom's 90 th birthday!! Wish we could have brought her too. Hope to hear from some cruisers from Philly.

Just bumping up as it was several pages back and don't want it to get lost in the fluff.

Finally caught up!!! There were many, many Twilight Zone moments throught the posts I read.

Ok, so if wanted to profile those of us DVCer on this cruise I would say we are:

loyal, caring, patient, kind.

If we didn't finish college, we would like to. We never should have gotten married so young, but it worked out in the end.

We are proud of our children.

We wish were a little thinner or taller.

We have a collection of Disney items that can and will fill a suitcase!

Many of us would like to livein Fla and work for Disney.

It is difficult to choose 1 movie.

We are romantics(little notes, gifts, to loved ones).

We know how to appreciate each day of our lives!!

So that is why we will not be disappointed on our cruise.

I look forward to meeting all of you, but I feel I already know you! :grouphug:

Nezy posted a lot of the twilight zone moments and it started me thinking about another thing. :earseek: We're in trouble now. Gary loves when I say "I was thinking......" because it means work for him somehow. :rotfl2: I know several have posted about celebrating birthdays in the last couple of days (Amy & Diana's little girls for one, Lisa's son and neice, several wedding anniversaries have been mentioned).

Anyway, how many people are celebrating a birthday, anniversary and/or graduation or any other special event on this cruise?

We're celebrating it being our first cruise. :cheer2:

It's hard to pick 3 favorite movies.....

I loved
The Herbie Movies
And the Parent Trap (both versions)
Also Freaky Friday

We are celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary. My dh booked this as a surprise but I found out by checking the credit cards.

I love reality shows and watch way to much of it. Can someone on this board talk my dh into tivo and tell him how much we need it. I really want it but he doesn't think it is needed. Well, I NEED IT. :rotfl2:

The best part about TIVO, is that we actually find ourselves watching LESS TV... or more acurately, more shows in less time. We're don't fill our schedules around what's on TV, because if there's a show on that we want to watch, we can just catch up with it later, and recording what you want to watch on TIVO is very simple.

I've also been able to catch things I would otherwise miss, like old Doris Day movies. I once had a hankering to watch Guys and Dolls, so I put it on my wishlist, and a month later, TIVO recorded it in the middle of the night! Generally, I don't have the time or the patience to check and see what's being shown on the bazillion channels we have.

I'm NOT the TV addict in this house. It's a running joke that when Damon goes away, the kids don't get to watch half as much TV, because I usually have it turned off... especially with TIVO. I have my shows in there, and it records them. Then I'll sit up one night and catch 3 episodes of Monk back to back. :teeth:

No birthdays or anniversarys for us for this trip, but we're willing to celebrate with anyone who wants to!

Hey Mary I don't care how we handle the cart - we all can go or Mark and John can go and that will give us a couple of extra minutes to eat...er I mean get all dolled up! :cutie:

Doing my best to help with the thread count.
About TiVO.
We actually have 4 in the house.
One for each tv.
My Dh is impatient and hates to wait for commercials.
We start watching shows about 15 mins, after they start and FF through all the garbagge.

If i won a millon dollars,,
I would buy my children their own land and probably mobile homes to set on it.
This way, they would have a place to live and if they wanted to build a house, they could still live there.
I would also buy a small place in the Ozarks as another vacation home.
We love that area of Arkansas.
i would also maybe, help my MIL.
We dont have a good relationship because.. well just because.
My dad is finaclly secure, so I would tell him to give my 1/2 of the inhertiance to my sister.

For those new to cruising and celebrating a birthday or anniversary - don't forget to order your cake for the night that you want to celebrate your event. The chocolate piece on top is so cool. Speaking of chocolate pieces, didn't they have a DVC one for the last Member Cruise?

We can be added to the reality show addict list too!! Right now it is BB6, but soon after we get back from the cruise, Survivor starts!! I think our favorite though is AR!!

We don't have TIVO, but we do have digital cable with a DVR. What a blessing!!!

We have a DVR (not the Tivo version) and we can't live without it. I don't think that we would watch any TV without. Now we have the convience of watching TV when it fits into our schedule. You really do need one!

Here's another person who cannot STAND watching TV without Tivo!!!

Did you know a football game is really only about 1 hour....not the THREE AND A HALF they air it for?? If you go snap to snap, it goes much quicker!

Me too!! And I won't even begin to talk about how much I love to watch the soaps recorded!
