My kids just stuck out their :p s . They yelled hey she can have our shrimp!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:
I'm the only seafood eater here.

Some can have my share too. Much to much work for me. Maybe a piece or two but that's about it. My kids turn their nose up at it too.

Now, if it's peeled and french fried with cocktail sauce, yummy!

Other than Palo's, are there ever crab legs at dinner? Those I would love!

No I think that's the only place for them. Now crab leggs I would fight for. :teeth:

A TOP for a "crab" fight! :cool1:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Sorry just had too! ;)

I forgot to add with Amy being sick.It might take a little longer. :teeth:
You're probably right. Especially since I have both girls home sick with me. Actually, Madison doesn't seem sick, so it's the rest of us, for now. The problem is that if she doesn't get sick now, then she'll probably be a couple days behind us, which isn't good either. I guess we'll wait and see. I'm giving her OJ though, so maybe we'll get lucky and she won't get sick at all.

Hi all!! :wave2: I finally caught up. Who ever doubted that we'd make 10,000 before we sail? Doesn't look like it's going to be a problem. :cool1:

I took the kids to my mother's assisted living facility today. We've never done a field trip there before. One of my little daycare boys has been curious about why my Mom can't walk and uses a wheelchair. I also told my Mom one of these days I would surprise her and bring the kids. Today was the day. :flower:

The kids loved it. Not only did they get to have a popcorn snack when we got there, they gave them all ice cream before we left (so much for a healthy lunch ;) ). Each of the kids had a chance to sit in my mom's wheelchair (at least a dozen times each). They each managed to use her little grabber thing to pick up a piece of paper without using their hands. A big accomplishment for all of them to master!

As we were leaving, my Mom was going off to exercise class. As we passed the great room, the ladies in there called all of the kids in. There were probably 8 of them all waiting to exercise. They encouraged all the kids to come and and talk with them. They said that was enough "exercise" for them for today. The kids beamed with pride at the attention they received. The ladies beamed with pride and really enjoyed the kids visit. My kids all sang a couple of songs for them and the ladies all joined in. It was fun for all of us.

I'm sorry I haven't done it soon. I think I'll plan on doing it more often. I'm sure my kids would love to make special presents for all of the residents. I know their parents won't mind sharing their projects (you know how many parents get :earseek: ).
Oh Cindy - HOW SWEET!!! I'm sure that the kids and the ladies LOVED it!!! I've done some volunteer work around the Tampa area (haven't done much since the girls), and it's amazing how much the residents of elderly care centers LOVE to see new people, especially the kids.

Amy, don't you think we should bring our families too? :rotfl2: They might be a wee-bit upset if we leave them behind.

On second thought, maybe Gary & Chris can take the kids over to McDonald's. I'm sure the kids would love it. Do they still have that one out on Sand Lake (is that the road? :confused3 ) with all the video games in it? Wasn't the cleanest when we went 6-7 years ago, but Cameron loved it there!

Have you ever had the drink with the back scratcher in it at Ohana's. I don't remember much about the drink (see, 1 will do me in ;) ) but the back scratcher is the best one. It really works! I might have to get a spare.

I agree! I use to take care of my granny before she passed and her friends in her apartment complex LOVED it when my girls came over. Ahja's brownie troop also did stuff for them and they adored the girls!

Ooohh, never had that drink. Heck, I can tell Chris that he has to drive back to BCV and I'll have a few tropical drinks.

That is certainly the feeling I got doing it.

My Mom hasn't been at this facility for all that long. It's rather small -- only about 23 residents and much nicer than she's lived at in the past. They treat her well -- which is a HUGE issue for me.

We went through a terrible time with were she was last year. They were just plain nasty to her -- charging her extra for every little thing. One day I walked in the room and it was dark as night. I asked why she didn't have her blinds in the open position and my Mom told me because they would charge her to open/close them. That's just nasty. :( They were not very nice and towards the end would be getting my Mom up at 3 a.m. because that's what worked for them. :(

We moved her out of there to where she is now. On moving day, we couldn't get off the floor she was in because they had locked the elevators and all of the stairwells :confused3 . There was no one around who had the key. :confused3 I was furious. How could they lock elderly people on the 5th floor with no fire escape route available to them or their visitors. :confused3 It was beyond my comprehension.

So, we moved my Mom out and the following Monday, I called the Mayor of the Village to make him aware of the situation. To say he took immediate action would be an understatement. The fire department marshalls were immediately sent out to correct the situation. The facility was heaviliy fined. As I've said here, I hate to make phone calls but this is one I couldn't not make. For the safety of the residents, it just wasn't right. And, no one, messes with my Mom. :rolleyes1

I'm hoping to get out of the house by 8am on Saturday morning. It takes us usually about 1.5 hrs to get to WDW, so if all goes according to plan, then we should be by the pool between 10 & 11am, after checking in, etc.

OMG! That's just down right awful! Some people treat the elderly so bad and that's not right. One day they'll see cause they are going to be in that same situation. What goes around comes around! I'm glad you got your mom out of there though.
