Mark,
Your lawn looks a lot better than ours. We have had a complete watering ban due to the lack of rain.

Thanks. We're under restrictions up here, being we're on Lake Michigan water. only certain days/times for auto, but can hand water whenever you want, why the garden looks great and the grass kind of eh.

And don't be that jealous, we're not going either, already have a trip for next year(where the gardening part came from, the other thread here on cruise meets), and are not going to bail on it for that one. Glad to see it's getting so much interest, but don't follow the special track all that closely ourselves. There'll be other cruises to go on to those ports, I'm sure.

Hi Mark,

It's pouring here. :umbrella: :umbrella: :umbrella: Let's hope all night. We'll all get rid of that hay growing in our yards.

Hope it makes it all the way to the lakefront!

Looking at Marks picture of the ship in port, it looks like what should be the port side or left side of the ship is actually not on the dock side. So I am confused about KW--is the sunset on the side of the dock? If so wouldn't that be the right or starboard side of the ship?

:confused3

Sunset will be off the port side of the ship, opposite the side the ship docks on.

Thanks for the tips from others in helping to remember the ship directions!

Mary (iluvdisney) how close is that explosion to your house. I'm guessing you are getting at least the smoke from it since the smoke is blowing north. Hope you guys are not part of the evacuation area, if so stay safe.

Note to everyone else: There has been a HUGE Chemical Plant Explosion in the area northwest of Detroit Metro Airport. I know Mary is from a city that is just a bit north of where this explosion occured. I think Sanddune might be from this area also.

John and Gail, Hope you guys are nowhere near that chemical plant fire I just saw on the news. It said "Detroit" but not which side. Anyway hope you are ok.
Going over to Dale and Karens tomorrow. I bet there will be cruise talking done ! :cool1:

Squid

EDITED to say I hope ALL our MI dissers are safe! Gail we must have been typing at the same time

Amy, you are so quick. :teeth: :teeth:

It was really the one I wanted to book over the Thanksgiving Western. If we didn't have to contend with the kids and school, it would have been a no brainer.

We talked about it at dinner and comparing the cost of the two, there really wasn't much to compare.

I just got off the phone with Lisa a bit ago. I think we're all set. :cheer2:

When docked at Key West it is Mark's observation and mine that it always noses in to that location and then turns around to head out
so
starboard toward the town
and
port toward the Gulf of Mexico and the sunset.

Oh please check in and let us know that you're ok. I haven't been watching the news, but I hope all are ok.

Now, something I should have thought of to show. Mary reminded me I had it on the website.

A long while back I made a movie of the webcam from Key West of the Magic docking. This is what we'd typically see from the webcam watching the Westerns dock.

Great movie Mark!~!~!
Isn't it cool how the ship can go straight sideways? :cool1: That is truely parallel parking!! I want to be able to park the car that way.

When we went to Key West the first time it was on a 4 night Disney MAGIC cruise in 1999 because Castaway Cay had been blown into the bay by Hurricane Hugo (I think). The ship docked at the Naval Base not the current location and we were on deck 10 watching the approach. All of a sudden the world started to spin--that is what it felt like--as if we were stationary and the world was spinning around us. The ship was turning 180 degrees with midship staying in the exact same place. Really an amazing experience. Then we went straight sideways up to the pier. Perfect!~!~! :smooth:

WOW! That is one fast ship. :rotfl2:

How cool. :cool1:

I've missed this news about an explosion somehow. Hope all of the MI contingent are ok!

Prayers and thoughts to everyone in Michigan. I hope that everyone is safe and sound.
