Sept 4-8 2005 Wonder S.S. Member Cruise! Part 2

Well guys I struck out. Went to both stores. At least one HAD them. Found one binder but it looked like it had been kicked around and smashed up a bit so it stayed on the shelf. Sorry!

I am so glad it took off successfully. DH + I were waiting for the landing of the shuttle on that fateful '03 day. If I could have watched this launch in person, I would be in tears too! It was such a sad day to wander through the Space Center.

God speed to those on the current mission!

Georgie - we remember that day too. We flew down for the Member Cruise and were disappointed that our flight got in too late to watch the landing. Then when we got off the plane and Mark called his Dad to tell him we had landed we heard the news. Stopped dead in our tracks and watched the monitors in the airport.

The first page of my scrapbook from the Member cruise has the picture of the crew on it.

So glad to see that we are back in space with this crew. God speed to them.

Speaking of the t-shirts, is anyone planning on adding anything to theirs? I'm thinking of adding some sort of pocket design on the front of the shirt. It just feels so empty... then again, it might be because my shirt is so big!

Lisa - I know what you mean about the front being plain, especially since the shirts we had for our 10 day had our names and a logo embroidered on that area. However we aren't going to do anything because we'll be wearing our lanyards and buttons in front. I figure that will make it busy enough for eveyone to see who we are!

I was looking on line for costumes and there are alot out there priced inexpensive to outrageous. I still have to see if John is up to dressing up - maybe if I bribe him!

Tell him Mark is and I think Mary's John is as well! I know how shy John is but tell him we want him too!

I also remember the '03 landing. We were at our college's founders day/homecoming celebration and we started watching the news in college fitness center and realized that something was VERY wrong. We were glued to the TV all afternoon. It really spoiled the atmosphere of such a big celebration, but we all had an improptu memorial before lunch. The whole thing was SO sad!!!

Lisa and everyone else. Now I don't know this as fact, but my guess is that we'll have special lanyards waiting for us at the port. They did for the first Member Cruise and also for Member Homecoming. They were really really nice and had our names in cards in the holders. So they will dress up the front of the shirts very well (especially when you had your personalized DIS button).

Well....DD is cutting slits down the sides and she cuts strips on either side about 2 inches long and ties bows and then wears a cami underneath that's colorful. Oh...and then she cuts the neck band off too.

I remember doing that type of thing back when I was in middle school back in the early 80s. It was big back then too. Isn't it amazing how things come back around?? Who would have thought that the trends of the 70s & 80s would ever come back.

Whew - work was busy this am so I'm just now catching up from last night.

Watched the shuttle launch on TV here also as I've always been so in awe of what they do. In 2003 I was standing outside on the phone when they re-entered over Texas ... not a fun sound to hear once you figured out what it was. When I was in HS/College I served on the national finance committee for the Girl Scouts of the USA and Christa McAuliffe's mom served on the board at the same time. I had her autograph her book and it is an amazing story to read. So happy that we are back in space.

Well if the DVC/DCL guys are reading here then I hope they run out to Walmart and get some blinkies too!

Wouldn't it be funny if we show up to the Bon Voyage party and they are all standing there holding fish extenders and mickey binders and wearing blinkies!! Somehow, I just KNOW someone is reading all this taking notes and ready to tease the heck out of us once we get on board!!
