Sept 4-8 2005 Wonder S.S. Member Cruise! Part 2

We already have our next cruise picked out. We're just waiting to get onboard to book it. We're doing a CC double dip in Oct 2006 with the Cruisetoberfest group. We cruised with them in 2003, so we already know a lot of people from that group.

Well I never seem to have any problem spending money on souveniers on the ship.

I want to check out that DVC owner only Disney Cruise Ship you can buy that was mentioned back in May right after the PC cruise. Anyone got one of those yet?

Linda

Linda(and others),

Don't have one yet, and it has been brought up to DVC that we'll have an entire shipload of members, which at least some will be interested in them. I'm sure they're working with DCL on it to do what they can to make them available.

I know I want one, but hmmmmm where to put it here at home :rotfl:.

Is is pre-order only? If not I'll have to have it "ship"ped home?!?

Good morning everyone!

I see the VMK question has already been answered. Fun game. I don't spend as much time as others in it but do enjoy it. I look it almost like chat but with little characters.

We already have our next cruise booked - the May double scoop group. Like Amy with the Cruisetoberbest group our May cruise is full of friends. At least 10 couples from our December '04 cruise booked the May one. Plus there already was a great group on the thread. With two stops at Castaway Cay these double dip cruises are quite popular.

We've never even been to CC and have thought about this. :Pinkbounc

Even Cameron was disappointed to hear we're spending A day at CC and not multiple days this cruise.

I'm fairly certain we'll book a double dip. :teeth: I just have to see when it fits in best to minimize the days off of school. I supppose I should do that before we cruise so I have a specific one in mind ;) .

All cruises are offered at a discount, right?

Cindy - that's kind of a tricky question. A lot of it has to do with current booking prices. Some cruises that are already more full might be higher than other cruises that still have early booking discounts - and those discounts can change as the ship become fuller. Hope that doesn't confuse the issue too much. Plus we don't know if there will be a special incentive to book on board this trip or if it will be the normal one. I would definately go with at least one date (if not two or three) to see what kind of offer you can get.

We'd love to have you on the May cruise if those dates work for you.

I am just sitting here waiting to try to get Palo's today. I think this is worse than breakfast at the castle. :rotfl2:
I forgot to add that I would like to be part of the disgirls drinking those great drinks.

Good luck to anyone trying to get reservations today!

Well our next cruise will not be DCL. It won’t be any cruise line. We are hosting a SCUBA trip on a 65’ ketch in Feb of 2006. 9 days to the Out Islands of the Bahamas. Did it last Feb and it was great. Might try to talk the Captain into swinging by CC, if we get over by the Berry’s or Abaco.

I am scared to go to VMK, could be too time consuming.

Also excited about being at WDW this Christmas season, gotta love the parks at that time of the year.

I think Kay, has seen or has one of the DVC DCL items mentioned.

I just have the feeling that this cruise will be pretty laid back for us, as we have nothing set in stone at this time.

Lynn will be gearing up for multiple trips to Cove Café.

Thoughts of this trip will hopefully make the summer pass quickly.

Hope those of you trying for reservations today get your wishes.

I got dinner for the last night at 6:30 pm. Does that sound good? I was really trying to get brunch and tried to book 10 and 10:30 and both came back with an error that it was full. At least I got dinner. This will be great as the 9th is our 10 year anniversary. Thanks for everyone's help

We are all set. Our excursions have been booked. Yippee!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I did have 2 parasailing trips booked for two separate times. The first one I had Cameron, Gary & myself booked -- not what I wanted. I guess I forgot to uncheck myself from the box. So, I rebooked at a different time just to hold the spot for the two of them. I called to get it all straightened out. We are all set. :Pinkbounc

Clear a mud, Mary. I'll have some dates ready and play it by ear.

I know - sorry about that. Let's use my May cruise as an example. We booked it onboard in December 2004. Got what I thought was a good price especially when you consider the shipboard credit that comes with it. About a week later someone is looking it up online and says the price has gone up. Sure enough we check out a quote for the same room type as we already have booked and the price is $1000 higher.

You see as Disney starts selling more and more cabins they offer less and less discounts.

Anyone who booked the repo cruise can tell you that the price was jumping throught the day as rooms got booked.

So a cruise that has a lot of bookings already will not be as cheap as another cruise that still has a lot of early booking rooms left.

Hopefully that made it clearer.

Well we decided to see what was available for Palo and as of 8:15 central no brunch times even came up at all. Dinner was available 3 of the 4 nights at our regular seating time and we were hoping for later so I think we will skip it.

Massage - the only times available for the one I had picked out were during dinner and I like food more than massage so we skipped that too!

Plenty of times for manicures if anyone is interested!

So, Mary, before we board when I'm checking out possible dates, I should see what the cost is prior to us sailing. That way I would know if what price is offered on the ship is a "bargain" or not? Is that right?

Good Morning Cruisers from SSR! :sunny:

The Member Block Party was a lot of fun last night - Dee Vee Cee was there for anyone who is missing her. I wanted to ask if she will be cruising with us but didn't get the chance. There was drawings for 2 huge baskets of DVC merchandise that cannot be purchased and other fun items. There was also a drawing for a Picture package and there's more ideas for family pictures coming from Disney and DVC. And there was a pin preview for pin collectors. There was a fun trivia game where 3 families were pitted against each other with some tricky questions and if the families couldn't get the right answer they went to the audience for the answer - I got one of them and won a prize!!!
And, the cruise was mentioned but I didn't see anyone else raise their hands as going except me which made David spot me in the audience and he seemed to remember me and says "hi" to everyone! I told him I'll be at the Member Meeting today at 4 and will let you know if I can find out anything else. I think I will mention the buzz about the DVC DCL ship deal that you are chatting about.

And, for VMK interested parties, I found out the other night while at MK that if you sign up at MK, you get bonus points and Mickey ears and other deals which escape my memory at the moment. So.... I signed up and will try and learn more about it when I get back home. Don't want to take too much time out of my trip right now except when I am at MK - seems like a lot of fun and a way to take some of the magic home with us when we leave. :earsgirl:

That's all I have right now - sure is a lot of catching up to do here when I have the time - off to have more fun.

Gail - before I forget - I like SSR altho it is a really big resort - I have a nice studio close to the main area pool and it is really quiet. Just enough room for me! I think you and John will enjoy your stay here. :wave2:

Cindy - yes that is a good plan. Of course part of that bargin is also the onboard credit for the next cruise so take that into account as well.

I'm less than happy as a first time cruiser. I'm on the phone with reservations, and they have confirmed that NO BRUNCH TIMES were made available today for first time cruisers. This is one of the few things I really wanted a chance to experience. Also very limited massage opportunities.

I think it's great to give repeat cruisers perks, but they should leave something for first timers. JMHO. I'm sure we'll have a good time, but this has really soured me on DCL.

Cindy definitely check out the prices before leaving home of the cruise you are interested in so you can see what type of deal you will be receiving when you book on board. Take into consideration that you will also receive a stateroom credit for your next cruise for booking on board.

We have another cruise booked for this year in December. We are cruising with RCL on Mariner of the Seas. This will be the first cruise that we are taking with just our children - no friends or family members. Now that I think about it, I don't think we have ever taken a vacation with just the 6 of us. They are really looking forward to it.

We don't have anything planned for 2006...............yet!

Thanks for this update! That's really what I wanted to select also. I did finally grab Palo for the last night on board, however I would def cancel it if I could have brunch.

Oh and did anyone see bikes without the full package? I wanted to do these but my boyfriend Matt is not a big float in the ocean kind of guy so I didn't want to reserve the whole shebang.

Question - if we do change our minds can we cancel on ship or do we have to do it before we board?

Mary - thanks for checking in! Glad to hear you had fun at the Member Block Party. Tell David we said hi when you see him this afternoon.

Why don't you ask him if Dee Vee Cee is sailing with us. Now wouldn't that be a hoot! :rotfl2: Maybe she'll ask John out for a romantic night at Palo. I think she has a crush on him! Edited to add Gail's John - not yours.:)
