Sept. 30, 2006 -- Eastern Magic

Jeff - I wish you had introduced yourself before the cruise! I'm sure we probably ran into each other somewhere though. I guess you all had a great time as well!

Talk to you all later.

Julie

Welcome, Jeff! I'm glad you decided to not be a lurker! We had a great time meeting everyone on the last cruise! So maybe we'll get to meet you this time! It was really a neat experience to actually know people on the cruise!

Julie- we haven't really talked about the stingray fiasco since it happened! Have you recuperated from my daughter's screams yet? I am so sorry about that one!

My grandmother is ill and I will be leaving town tomorrow. So the chatter on my end is going to slow down a bit!

See ya. Deanna

Julie : We had a great time! Being Disney we had high expectations...and they delivered. The only surprise was that our kids did not participate in the kids clubs too much...too many things to do on the ship. We have a DD9 and DS6.

Deanna : The couple from New York was kind of like me. They browsed the threads and got some great information but never posted anything. I will try to get them to join. I think you asked if anyone was from the Midwest. I live in Nashville but am originally from Norman, Oklahoma. Hope your Grandmother gets to feeling better soon.

Jeff

Jeff - Deanna and I and a few others talked about the kids clubs as well. Our kids didn't especially enjoy them that's for sure. It was a little disappointing that my daughter only went twice, but she just kind of wanted to be with us, which was nice, too. Glad you all had a good time! :sunny: Are you pretty sure you are sticking with this date or is it just tentative?

Julie : Pretty sure we will stick with this date. Our kids go to a year around school and get a 2 week fall break around this time. We missed it by a week this year so hopefully we will hit it next year. What about you?

We actually set by a couple ladies from your group in the Theater 1 night? My wife chatted with them some but I can't remember their names. I believe one of them had 2 boys and they were interviewed before the Golden Mickey’s…I’ll have to ask my wife on that.

How did you like your Carnival Cruises? Did you do it with kids?

Jeff

Disneymomandfan: What made you decide to do a cruise this time? By looking at your sig, it seems you prefer Disneyland! Hope ya have a great time!
Deanna

Well, I'm the big Disney nut in our family and we had another trip planned for Disneyland this October. Then DH says he couldn't face going one more time, "can't we just go somewhere for a RELAXING vacation and not be so rushed?" So, I suggested a Disney cruise (of course) and he said ok. :cool1: I picked September because it is less expensive and since DS will only be 8 and starting the third grade, I can still pull him out of school without much trouble. I would love to go to WDW too, but we just don't have enough time. I can't believe I'm flying into Orlando and NOT going there -- it'll be very hard to keep me away. Someday...

This date is tentative for us. I just rebooked and chose this as a ballpark date. I hope it ends up working out though. My husband and I went on the carnival cruise in 1998 for our honeymoon. We loved it and had a great time, nothing bad to say about it at all. The carnival cruise in Jan. is going to be just my mom and me. I have heard good things about their newer, bigger ships. About the ladies from my group - was one of them named Christine?? We didn't go to the Golden Mickeys that night so I don't know who was picked to be interviewed.

Take care.

Julie

We were at the Golden Mickeys but we weren't there early enough to get interviewed. So it wasn't my family! Maybe we should ask this question on the current 9-24-05 thread.

Disneymomandfan- I also took the cruise because I thought it would be relaxing. Don't tell your DH, but it was far from relaxing! Go here, go there. I couldn't keep up. Especially with kids. So much to do, so little time. Maybe next time will be more relaxing since it will be my second time on the ship. Less exploring and more sunbathing. Doesn't that sound nice? :flower:

This is just a tentative date for us also. I'm waiting for the '07 rates to make my final decision! :confused3

Have a great night. Deanna :wave2:

Julie : You can't get me to talk on the last cruise and you can't get me to shut up on this one. For our anniversary in May 06 we are thinking about going on a 3 or 4 day Wonder Cruise, grown ups only. OK, I feel just a bit guilty not including the kids.

What was your take on the Wonder? Did you do the 3 or 4 day Cruise? How did it compare to the Sept 24 cruise?

Here is a quick review for you:

Wonder - we were on the four day wonder. not nearly enough time to get settled with 2 kids. But if you don't have the kids with you, that might be fine. We had fun, but we had much more fun on the Magic because we met people on here and had a better plan of what to do. I would recommend going on the wonder, esp. if you don't have the kids with you. I can see your guilt, but I would go anyway and have a BLAST! Glad you are talking on the thread for this cruise, I think it will only improve your trip next time you go!

I think I need rest...we were on the Magic and not the Wonder on 9-17. (Although our first cruise was on the Wonder in 2003)

DisneyMom&Fan - my ds will also be 8. He is very into video games and all things Disney and Nick.

cujobugs??? - Sorry - short-term memory - I remember your name was Deanna though. We live in the Midwest - in Southeast MO.

We had a fabulous waiter on our 9-17 cruise. We are hoping to request him again for this cruise. Has anyone done that before?

Yeah for the midwest! We are Kansas but I grew up in Missouri!

I've never requested a waiter before. I can't help you out there!

From what I've been hearing I don't really plan on relaxing too much. Sounds like there is TONS to do. Don't worry, I'm not gonna tell DH and risk having him not want to go. Besides, I'll let him relax all he wants.

Tammy -- my soon to be DS8 is also into video games, Nick and Cartoon Network -- pretty much the same thing. He's also pretty independent and loves meeting new kids -- mainly since he's an only kid.

If it were 2006, we'd all be on a cruise right now! :cheer2:

I got my official Disney paperwork in the mail today to confirm we are sailing Sept. 30th! Yippee! We are under the one year mark! :cool1:

We've been out of town due to Grandmother's death. No fun.

My son is still catching up on homework he missed on last cruise. Our goal is to get it done tonight. It is so hard the older they get to catch up on work from school. My third grader completed hers in one night. He has been working several nights on it! Ugh. It makes me wonder if I should sail in the summer. But the prices freak me out a bit!

Well I must help my son with homework! Deanna

Hello, everyone! :)

Hi, Deanna! Glad you are safely home, hope things are better with you and your family. :goodvibes Got my paperwork as well! Kind of exciting, isn't it?!?

Hello all, just checking in. We are having work done on our house, so my home computer is down until next week sometime :guilty: and I can only check in for a few minutes here at work. Talk to you all soon.

Angela

I finally get the chance to say hello to you! We are the couple from NY Jeff told you about. I must add that Jeff, (Sooner), his wife and their two children are wonderful people! I will tell you that we had a great time on the Western Caribbean Disney last Sept. 24. This cruise, our first ever, took us beyond our expectations... What a magical time... My wife, daughter, 8, and I can't wait to go back... :earboy2:

Hopefully, I will be able to post some more in the oncoming weeks; perhaps some of us could meet before the cruise. (That way the kids will have friends already and we can start enjoying the "cove" sooner!) Isabella, our girl, had a great time at the labs. She took full advantage of that; she loved the recreation counselors and met new friends. We also were able to spend some serious quality time together, what a treat!

Take care, friends and talk to you soon,

Ahoy! :earsboy:
