Sept. 30, 2006 -- Eastern Magic

Hello everyone!

My girls started back to school this week so we are busy trying to get back into the school routine.

Has anyone already filled out their cruise docs on the Disney web site?

yep...all filled out and printed my contract! I AM READY TO GO!!

I filled out all our paperwork too. Just waiting to print and sign the contract. If I do this too early I won't be able to find it in September!

:hourglass :hourglass :hourglass

The waiting is the hardest part!!! :rolleyes1

DH and I realized our passports were expiring this month, so have had to send for renewals. You can track passport processing at the State Department website. We should receive our new passports the middle of August. Since we need the date of the passport for the paperwork, we can't complete our forms (have completed our boys' forms) and thus can't even view the contract. :(

why do you need a passport?? I didn't put my info in ...

You don't, this time, but you will by year's end (any time you go outside the US including to Canada or Mexico) with the new regulations. So, we just decided to go ahead and renew them before they expired and we had to pay more.

School already??? WOW! What kind of schedule are your kids on? Mine doesn't start back until September 5, but out for three months in summer, starting June 7. They have been trying to get the "year around" school here, but the parents are just fighting it tooth and nail.

I filled out all my paperwork, printed out the contract and am ready to go! However, no passport is needed until December cruising, as far as I know.

School for us starts August 9. For some idiotic reason, the powers that be think starting with a 3-day week is best. We get out the third week in May. With this schedule, we get a week break in the fall (our cruise week) and a week in the spring. The Texas legislature, however, has been working hard for years to legislate that schools statewide can't start any sooner than August 20. Our school district has applied successfully for the past 3-4 years for a waiver, but I think we realize our luck may run out this year, and next year, we'll be starting later and losing our fall break :(

School starts here on Aug 16th...they always start on Wednesday.. I don't know why

Just out of curiosity...has anyone had any trouble getting their kids out of school so early in the school year? It would be interesting to know for future reference.

not me...DD keeps a journal of her trip and takes it to school when she returns..teachers have never said anything about it

My girls are on a year-round schedule. Yes, is does make the summer short. However, they get 2 weeks for Fall Break, 3 weeks at Christmas, and 2 weeks for Spring Break.

That is why we are taking a Fall cruise - the girls are out of school and the price is lower.

My twins are starting kindergarten. It made me so sad to see them walking into the building by themselves.

I started back to school this week also. We are on year round. This is the first year we started on Monday and had a full week of school. I teach Kindergarten and my kids stay for a full day - It was a long week for them. I like it better when we start with a three day week. The kids get a few days to adjust befor e "real" school starts the next week.

well..i am packed and ready to go..have a good weekend everyone..I will tell Mickey you all said HI!

We start school Aug 10, They go for 2 hours and the first full day is monday the 14th. Boys are getting excited. Kyle is going to missle school, and Hunter to 3rd grade, michael will do pre k but they dont start till sometime in Sept. We are also on fall break the week of cruise, so no missed time from school. Hope everyone has a great weekend. Kyle has baseball tryouts for middle school tomorrow. He is on rest now and he is really upset. The ortho dr told him no throwing for 3 weeks, hurt his shoulder after the world series. guess we will see what the middle school coach will do.

What's the word on Pirate Night pirate: ? When we last cruised DCL there wasn't one. I've seen pictures with lots of kids decked out in costume. Do these kids bring their own, or do they get the supplies on the cruise?

It looks like there's been lots of changes since we were on the Magic. The big screen by the pool looks incredible!

Is there any way to know what performers (comedians, ventriloquists, etc.) will be on our trip?

Two months from tomorrow!
