Debt Dumpers 2026

Thanks. I will check into that. Tomorrow, I'm planning on getting the mower ready for the season. I've had that mower 3 years (my boss gave it to me when we moved up here to DFW). In 3 years, I haven't sharpened the blade, and I haven't changed the oil, air filter or spark plugs. I'm going to be doing all of that tomorrow as I watched a Youtube video on how to do it today. I've never been taught how to work on engines, so I had no idea. I've always just taken it somewhere to get it done.
Hoping it goes smoothly! DH watched some videos during Covid and has been maintaining all our small motor items (lawnmower, snowblower, and tiller)

I watched a video a few years ago and fixed our freezer. It’s amazing how much information is out there!

When my husband has tried to change the oil on our rider mower he manages to spill oil all over the driveway. So we now pay the guy across the street to do anything we need done (he runs it as a business out of his house). He doesn’t charge much and it saves us a lot of time and mess.

One of the reasons we got battery operated stuff was due to maintenance no winterizing or mixing oils or having trouble starting it, been there done that as a kid and it was annoying. Sharpening blades aside we just charge the battery and pop it in. We have a snowblower, lawn mower, leaf blower (backpack version) and trimmer/edger all battery operated by EGO. When my husband was on field assignments throughout the years (he was gone around 22 months total between several years) this was very important for me to have since I was doing all the stuff on my own.

But youtube is amazing for the information. We've used it to change my radiator out on my car, replace the valve cover gasket, find the extremely hard to even know existed bolt holding something or rather down for my car. My husband has changed his brake pads with a video, we've learned various woodworking and home fixes from just watching videos including the dryer and many more. Funny enough my husband also has a saved video for ties because he only wears them for certain occasions; he also learned folding his pocket square technique which he proudly has shown off when we've been on cruises or weddings. We've both learned sewing techniques (it's been many years since we did home ec classes from school) me for random fixes my husband mostly for taking in the sides of the dress shirts he wears since he is tall but not big making it harder to find shirts that fit him.

I was thinking you were a CA native and I was hoping you would have some insight! I'm going to work my way down your reply...

We had originally thought we would stay at the Best Western immediately across from the entrance from DL, for that wonderful proximity. But the more I dig around, you are definitely paying dearly for that location. So now I've been all over the place on my thoughts. We opened the new Disney Inspire CC for the benefits, especially once we booked this, and I'm kinda considering the Disney Pixar Place hotel because after the credit back from the CC, it's truly not much more than the Best Western! So I keep looking at pricing and such but haven't booked anything yet. If not onsite, now thinking further away than the Best Western, for some additional cost savings.

Do you have any recommendations on a beach closer to Disney than 1000 Step? I can be negotiated on the beach; that one just looked really pretty! But the fact that we do arrive later in the afternoon and it being farther, is a deterrent. I am checking rental prices for cars, mainly with Autoslash; it seems I'd have to do an overnight rental and return it by mid afternoon the next day if I went that route, as I can't find any rentals nearby that allow a key drop after hours.
We tend to go to Huntington when we go to the beach while in SoCal. Is it the prettiest? Not really, but its close to being a straight shot from the Anaheim area to the beach, you can usually find cheap street parking if going during the week, and theres also a little shopping center right down the road from it where we usually grab sandwiches and take em to eat on the beach.

Newport beach is probably prettier than Huntington, but we don't usually go over there. I'm not trying to dissuade you from your beach choice at all! Im less familiar with the beaches down there than I am with Anaheim/disneyland.
