Sept. 30, 2006 -- Eastern Magic

Hi Cindy,

I believe you can start booking at 12:01 AM on Monday July 17th.

I don't know if it's EDT or some other time zone. So good luck!!

Lisa, I don't play much on-line. Mostly MSN in the past. Which sites do you use? I also sent you a PM with a link to download an application to view Excel spreadsheet. Let me know how it works out.

I thought Monday, July 17 marked the 75 day point. Is it Sunday or Monday?

Well, technically 12:00 midnight (Pacific time) is Monday, so that is when you can make your reservations.

Lisa, new cruisers (like myself) can make online reservations for Palo, spa, register the kids, etc. at the 75 day mark. Return cruisers (Castaway Club members) were able to make them at 90 days, and I think Cat. 1-3 and REAS package holders were able to make them at 105 days.

...had a question: are there any kids aged 12-14 in this group? I have three sons, the oldest two are 12 (nearly 13 by the time we sail) and 14, and thought it might be good to hook them up early if so. We could start a thread for them to get to know each other, though I'm sure they'd migrate to IMing.

I'll try to go through the 40 or so pages in the next couple days to get back up to speed with who's who and doing what. It just occurred to me that we could be signing up for excursions, Palo, etc. (we're in a cat 2), and already Palo seems to be out of reservations. Was able to get a dinner ressie the other night, but ran into trouble booking brunch. Went in tonight and the only thing left is high tea! Hoping it was a glitch.

I have other questions, but will flip through the postings before asking in case they've already been asked.

TTYS!
Beth :cool1:

Hi Beth,

Welcome Back! Not sure I've chatted with you before.

Check out the 'Roll Call' there is a link in my signature. I have a DS who is 13 & there are a few other kids in that age range. I think it's more girls than boys though. I haven't looked that closely.

Gotta get coffee....

David

HI beth...welcome back, I have a DD 14 who has a friend (boy 14) who will be onboard (our school district is on fall break) - I believe they are staying up on 8 in one of the Cat 3s. I Will check when DD14 gets back from her trip to Louisiana.

I checked today and there were no more Palo Brunch reservations available. I managed to grab what appears to be the last High Tea res because now all I see available are dinner reservations. All 7 nights are still open for dinner.

I'm not worried about Palo. This is our 8th or 9th DCL cruise, so I kinda know the ropes. I'm just not used to the idea of being able to sign up for things on-line. In the past (we've been in the Walt Suite a couple times as well as cat 3 and 4 several times), we've been called by a land-based concierge to sign up for stuff. This way is new to us. I know, though, that we'll be able to work something out with the concierge once on-board.

Have others decided on excursions? I'm still trying to figure out whether to do St. Thomas on our own or do an excursion.

Since you are a Disney expert...how is Golden Eagle Catamaran? My sister has been on 8 DCL's and can't remember all the different excursions. I could use some help!

Welcome Dursin!!!

You've stumbled upon a great group of people.

We're all REAL excited for the cruise to hurry up and arrive and then have the time C ... R ... A ... W ... L while we are on board.

Beth: I updated the Roll Call with the info you gave me.

Talk with you more later.

Don't know that I am a Disney expert, but we have tried a lot of different things. The Golden Eagle is a fond memory for all 5 of us. It was our first ever catamaran experience, and none of our subsequent catamaran experiences have compared. It was a somewhat rough seas kinda day, so the catamaran was bouncing around and we (sitting out in the webbing) kept getting splashed. The ride was awesome! We paralled the coast for about 45 minutes, then anchored off-shore. They handed out fins, masks and snorkels to those who wanted to snorkel, and gave noodles (those foam pool thingies) to those who just wanted to hang out in the water. Rum punch and beer (I think) were available up on the beach. We hung out for an hour or so, then headed back. Wish we'd had more time to swim and explore. At the time, our youngest was 3 or so, so naturally DH left him to me and went off with the older two. The trip back was just as much fun. I got to help hoist the sail with a group of other women. They served small sandwiches and more rum punch. I would HIGHLY recommend the Golden Eagle based on that experience. Am thinking of doing it again, in fact. Need to check with youngest DS as DH again is taking the older two on an excursion for which #3 is too young :sad2:

Left a cruise report, HAL was not Disney, but we had a wonderful time anyway, I lost weight on the cruise. My DD stayed up late Sunday and got all the pictures on CD with music, what a job. Took over an hour to watch set at a picture every 2 seconds. That was the digital pictures, I understand we have six rolls of pictures to develope. Needless to say the kids had a great time. DW & I did not take one picture.

Oh, thanks Beth!!!! (Are you an Elizabeth too?)
My Dsis and Dbil were trying to remember the difference..one they liked and one they didn't, but they couldn't remember which was which...

I am in Disney mode...getting stuff bought for my trip week after next to Disney..going to meet with my friends that we cruised with last October...that was such a great group of people...I can't wait to see them!!!

Yes, I'm an Elizabeth, named for an Elizabeth who went by Betty. Mom said I looked like a Beth (whatever THAT means!).

I know what you mean about remembering the good from the bad ones. It's easy for us to remember the Golden Eagle as DH so enjoyed it that he bought us all t-shirts!

Beth

Jack, glad to see your back from your Alaska cruise. I read your cruise report and it sounds like the sights are amazing. My mom took that same cruise a couple of years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it too. How nice of your DD to take ALL the pictures -- that's what kids are for, right? :thumbsup2 We're you able to spend any time in Seattle? We've had some pretty great weather lately, :sunny: so I hope you were able to enjoy it. I think we saw your ship leave Elliott Bay - we were the motor boat zooming :boat: by port side. :rotfl: Seriously, we were out that day, but we stay away from the "big boys"! :rolleyes1

77 Days and counting..... :hourglass party: :jumping1:

We stayed in Seattle over night Sat 7/08 and the kids went to a Ball game, Seattle was playing Detriot, they had a great time while we baby sat, kind of there 17 & 12. The Double Tree near the airport was fab. $69 a night King bed and room was as good as any where I've stayed, the boys had there own room and were real impressed with that. DSIL never ate at a Jack in the Box and one was across the street. they brought something back for me, my knee needs to be operated on, saw the Doc and scheduled for 7/25 want to make sure I'm new for the 9/30 & 10/07 cruises. DW is still not crayz about a B2B but I'm pushing the fact we get to CC twice.

EVERYBODY! I just made my shore excursions and its not even 75 days yet! :cool1: Try it! Haven't tried Palo ressies or kids reg., but that is next on my list. Maybe they just "give the okay" because its a weekend???!!!

Good luck! :thumbsup2

Okay, I'm back - I registered DD for the club, however no PALO brunch or tea to be found. Only dinner! :confused3 I'll have to keep checking and check on board :guilty: .

Hi All,

Just a quick note to to tell you about a suprise I received.

I took the kids deep sea fishing today. The weather was great and I caught a nice Haddock.

The surprise was when I got home.

I've still got sea legs!!

Why does this get me so excited to go on the cruise?

Gotta run.
