How old were your kids when they first cruised?? We have been several times but the boys have never been. Any suggestions for their first time?? I know they will be excited but worried about motion sickness, never had any problem with the car.

We are telling the boys that they are giving tours of the boat, so they can see what one looks like. they believe we are spending the week with my grandmother and mom in Ft Myers for the week, and this tour will happen on the drive there.

Hope you have had a good day. will talk to you soon.

I just paid off our cruise, so I just had to celebrate!!!! :cool1: :cool1:   :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc party: party: :dancer: :dancer: :jumping1: :mickeyjum :mickeyjum party: party:

OK, now I've got to do the online check in that you all are talking about. I hope it's easy! :badpc:

I'm really starting to get totally FREAKED OUT  because the cruise is getting so close now. I've got a lot of my shopping done, still lots to go. Trip insurance, check. Airfare, check. Hotel for night before, check. Oops, haven't done car rental yet -- will be doing Thrifty because I get a friends & family discount (but they charge you $10 to drop at the port). OK, now if September would only get here.... :rolleyes2

My kids went last year (4, 7) for the first time. They were really excited so I didn't worry about them being scared. I pulled up all the navigator and we talked about what they could do. My daughter wanted to do everything. My son - nothing. When we got there, the wait to get on the ship was a little long but they loved getting pictures with the characters. Once on the boat, we ate and took a little tour. They saw the pool and slide and that was it - excited and happy (although afraid that the slide might be scary but they got over that really quick.) We took them to the kids club that night - I think that is what scared my son. Some kids were wild and it was too crowded. Depending on your kids you might want to wait until the next day when it is not so crazy. I just thought they needed to get familiar with the staff and area but we will skip it this time. My daughter went it and cried whenever we came to get her. She loved every minute. I took my son and stayed with him for 1/2 the first activity (a mystery to solve). He looked like he was having a good time so I told him I was leaving and I would come back later. As soon as that activity was over he cried until I came back to get him. IF that may be an issue, let the staff know to call you. They made my son wait to call thinking he would start having fun again and forget - but no and he refused to go back. The rest of the trip we did family activities - basketball, shuffleboard, Mr. Toad's wild race (DS won that one), Mickey Mania (won that one also), early shows and the pool. I think that basketball, shuffle board and the arcade were my 7 year olds favorite.
To prepare for the cruise, I found out each character that would be on the boat for autographs and made a scrapbook type autograph book for each child with a page for wach character. They loved getting each autograph and the characters fussed over the cute pages which made it even more exciting. My kids still get the book out and look through it and tell stories about the cruise. Also we took a paint smock and turned it into customer service and had the characters sign it and deliver it to our room before the cruise was over. They turned out nice and the kids have them hanging in their rooms.
Hope that helps, they will love the Disney ship. Is this your first Disney cruise as well?

Just checking in....

Lets see, when you say your doing the paid off dance. Does that really mean paid off or just accrueing interest?

Please tell me I'm not the only person who travels with a good bit of personal debt. :scared: :crazy2: :worried:

But my kids are growing so dang fast and I need to make some memories while we all are alive and fairly healthy. So, with that said.... DCL here we come!! v :woohoo:  :thumbsup2

Night all,

David

I have the money saved up - in a savings account. I will wait to pay it off when I am ready to make ressies. It sure feels good to know I have the cash in hand already (and the rebooking deposit as well) :thumbsup2

Shirley

Thanks for all the great info. This will be our first Disney cruise also, but have sailed several times on carnival and royal carribean also.

I have had pillowcases made with their names. I really think they will love them after they are signed.

Just trying to make this special for all of them. Have 1 child who is really shy and worried about him, the 2 others are very outgoing and I dont think we will meed to worry about them.

Off to work

Nope...Paid...cash....all done! WOO HOO!

I hate credit cards...or should I say..they love me! I tore mine up several years ago and live with a debit Visa. Makes life so easy!

I was reading my Passporter last night and got alittle teary at the thought of going again.....

Shirley, a couple questions, please! How and when can you find out which characters will be on the boat? I would LOVE to do the autograph scrapbook. I am a HUGE scrapbooker and would love to do that for my daughter (her 8th birthday will be on Monday when we are on the ship!

I am a single mom and it will just be her and I. First time cruising anywhere for both of us. We get on the board together and have been checking out all the pictures of everyone else's cruises and getting excited! DD is very outgoing, however may be a little shy in the clubs. I told her she could try it and if she didn't like it no big deal, we would still do lots of family stuff together. Me, I don't mind that I may not be able to do Palo or the Spa, whatever makes her happy!

Kate will be 8.5 at sailing...she will take your DD under her wing and show her the "ropes" for the clubs....She was 7 on the last cruise so stayed with the Oceaneers Club...she will be happy to be in the "Lab" with big kids

That would be awesome! We will have to hook up for sure!

Thanks! P.S. What about the characters? How and when do you find out which ones will be on board?

Mickey, Minnie, goofy, pluto, captain hook, chip and dale,...i am watching DCL on Travel channel right now....trying to see which characters are on

Hello everyone!
I have not posted here lately. We just finished watching the DCL special on the Travel Channel - well we watched almost all of it. At our house, any big TV event requires popcorn. I was in the kitchen making it, and I looked out and saw a turtle crossing our street. Since I was recording the special, we decided to go outside and rescue the turtle from the road. That of course resulted in my daughters wanting to keep the turtle as a pet. DH and I said NO!
So, long story short - I now need to go watch the parts I missed!

Hope you all have a great day!

Also, you can get ideas of pages from: www.twopeasinabucket.com
specifically here: http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/pg.asp?gallery=1
none of these are mine but I got some ideas from here!

Been pretty quiet lately, lots of things happening. I'm trying to sell my Father's truck 1991 Ford with 52,000 miles on it. The Battery went last week then a tire from rot so I replaced all Selling for $500. and it's cost us $675. for repairs. Runs great. The air conditioner didn't work, just a charge required.
The good news is 28 days for Alaska. We were talking last night and decided we should have gone on the Magic this year and done Alaska next year when the Nagic was away. Oh well!

Haven't seen anyone new sign up for wrist bands!!!!

... and kb1esx

I pay in cash too -- kinda just save it up in a CD until I'm ready to pay in full - that way I get the interest, not DCL or credit card. But, of course, I do put it on my Disney Visa card to get the rewards, then I just pay it off when the bill comes.

Don't worry, we have plenty of life's adventures debt too, like DH's huge truck, our boat (I don't even want to think of the gas that thing will guzzle this summer :sad2: ), and my trip to DL. I agree, life is too short to not enjoy ourselves!

By the way, I went to WalMart (my semi-annual trek) and they didn't have the magnetic paper for door signs. I also looked at Target and a couple other places. Anyone have any other ideas? :dance3: (love this new emoticon!)

Disneymomto1: I'm a scrapper too. I can't wait to buy the DCL album on the ship. I haven't seen it yet, but I've heard about it. It doesn't really matter what it looks like because I HAVE TO HAVE IT!! :bitelip: :rotfl:

joksten2000: I found a link on our local news channel's website that gives Alaska cruiseship weather. Hopefully you can access it and check out the weather before your trip. It has been really soggy here lately. We are going camping this weekend and "heavy rain" :umbrella: is forecasted the whole time we are gone. So, just be prepared for a little bit of everything. http://www.komotv.com/weather/cruise_weather.asp

Gotta run, everyone have a great weekend!!
