Sept. 26,2009 Magic part 2

Hello everyone!! WOW - what a tremendous cruise!! You guys seriously rocked with the amazing company, great FE gifts, and just general DIS lovin'. We booked the June 21, 2011 Alaska cruise, but are already rethinking that, and may wait for the Dreams instead. It truly was a pleasure getting to know you all...I made some truly special friendships that I hope continue for many years to come. I hope to see you guys around the DIS or on our Facebook page (or maybe on another cruise). Thanks again for everything! :grouphug:

We are home, left our cruising buddies at The World.

Re-booked for Alaska, June 14th. Woo Hoo!!

Thanks to all that were able to track me down in my re-assigned room! All of the FE stuff was great.

Pam and I seemed to run into each other every day on board and then again at the airport this morning. Hope your flight was less bumpy than ours!!

Also, noticed that FatCat had his Tequila tasting shirt on this morning. I wonder what he had for breakfast.....

OK, back to the laundry.

Hey all,

Bigferrell and I made it home about 11:30 last night. Man is it cold in Ohio!!!

We had a great time--wish there were more days to share in the fun! :goodvibes

Looking forward to hearing trip reports and such, and hope to stay in touch with you all. Alaska 2011, here we come!!!pirate:

Man I can't believe it's over:sad1::sad1:, a whole year of planning and payments and it's over in a blink of an eye. I'm going to need to watch the video I did to see if I was actually there. I (we) rebooked for Oct. 23 of 2010 unless I change it to an Alaska Cruise. I meet Castaway3 at the Cove cafe and I know she's rebooked for Oct. 23rd also.

I would like to say a BIG thank-you to Disney Sweetie for all her work and the magnets. Hope to see you on a future cruise.

Well I need to get off now I have a lot of unpacking to do (it's a lot more fun unpacking last week), a dog to pick up at the kennels, pictures to view so I can delete the bad ones and get them developed and down load the video into the computer so I edit it and make a DVD.:surfweb:

Good-bye for now will be on later,
Paul (Paul2003)

It was a blast meeting so many of you. Made some great friends and had so many :lovestruc experiences. Do miss not being able to order whatever I fancy like eating at the moment, though. And our server team, of course. Those 2 hit home hard when confronted with the airline 'food'. :sad2: Got to get myself a new scale, mine is saying I only gained like 2 pounds. No way. :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Boy, we're also back. Got home about 2 hours ago and am now doing a difficult attempt to beat the jetlag. :scared1: We got of the Magic like lightning hoping to get onto an earlier flight to Newark. Lo and behold, they didn't put us on the 11.45 with Ana but on the 10.40. Which was with us checking in around 9. Had a lovely unexpected run in with Boba and her beautifull princess and then off to the gate. Plane was already waiting, we were late. Good thing we got on an earlier flight, the original wouldn't have made the connection. Downer was getting back to AMS and finding out they wrecked my powerchair more than originally already done on the way in. Sjeez, how difficult is it?

Don't have any laundry to take care of overhere. Gotta love having your peeps who do that for you. :laundy::cheer2: I'll be busy filing claims with CO, DCL and my travel insurance, so I guess I might not get off really easy after all. :confused3 Grin, those not aware of what my cruise looked like must be thinking I'm the customer from hell, filing all of those things. Grin. Guess I am. Gnagna. :rolleyes1

With all of us booked for Alaska; am I the only one hoping for the Panama one?

Pam and I seemed to run into each other every day on board and then again at the airport this morning. Hope your flight was less bumpy than ours!!

OK, back to the laundry.

Hey Stacey! We had a smooth flight home. Got back to the house around 4pm yesterday. Got most everything unpacked and some laundry done. Time to get up and go finish tho. Gonna miss not running into you today.... :rotfl:

.

Paul my dogs were sooo happy to see us...hope yours was also.

I really enjoyed getting to meet everyone and hope that you all had a good time with the cabin tours, FE, Secret Mickey and PJ Breakfast. I think it all turned out really good. I am going to post some pictures on our facebook page soon. Hope that you all will also. Crystal, I will PM you so you can send me some of the jet ski pics. I had a hard time driving and taking pics so I finally gave up.

Well, I need to get up and get started with my day. Keep in touch!!!!

Love to you all

Yep, back again, and just like Jacqueline trying to overcome the jet lag - thank heaven for coffee :surfweb:

I had a wonderful and unforgettable week and enjoyed the cruise a lot: the shows, the food, the really nice weather, the islands we visited, the FE and Secret Mickey-thing, your company...! Must admit I'm a bit jealous of you folks having already booked for another cruise :rolleyes1

Here also a lot of :laundy: to do, but hey, that's what I've got personnel for :rotfl2:

Hope to hear from you!

Danny and I are home. No idea where Jodi is I left her at Orlando airport:(.

We finally made it home last night at 930pm. It was a LONG ride home with several 30min-1hr stops b/c Bailey was crying so hard. It was miserable for all of us. I sang twinkle, twinkle, little star, itsby spider and jesus loves me about a 100 times each trying to get him to calm down. We've learned that from now on we will drive long distances in the middle of the night.

Sorry I didn't get to meet a lot of yall. Vacationing with a little one is a lot harder then I thought it would be. Saturday when we got on the boat was crazy to say the least and I missed everything. Oh well, it was nice to meet the few of yall we did meet. And I'm sure if you walked by the kiddie splash area you probably saw my dh and Bailey. Bailey was the one that couldn't sit up by himself so dh was either holding him or sitting with him in the water. He was loving the water fountains and actually loved the ocean as well. He actually cried when we took him out of the water. Oh and thank to everyone for Bailey's FE gifts. He loved the whale, doggie, books and little toy truck. We used them all on the way home to try to make him happy. It was so much fun coming back to our room to see gifts.

We rebooked for the June 29th Alaska cruise since it'll be my dad's 60th birthday. Anyone else rebook that cruise?

Hello everyone and thank you for the great time! We didnot rebook as of yet butDW says 3-5 years. So we got some saving to do.
Really bites having to make meals again! Our kids had a blast with FE gifts. Was anyone sitting with fellow diser's at supper time?
I'll type more on Monday as I am still off work,.

Meeting you all was fun and Thanks to all of you that opened up your cabins for a tour - Stacey, I think we all could have had a party out on your deck!!! KimmySue, I dont think I would have ever left the cabin.

A million THANKS for all the FE gifts, (for those that handcrafted--- OUTSTANDING - here's a pat on the back!!!!)

Remember to always have faith, trust and a whole lot of PIXIE DUST!!!!

See ya on another cruise!!!!!!

Sonia

Heard from Jodi She made it home after delays up the wakoo.

So is there a wrap up??

Good stuff, great stuff, not so good stuff?

Good stuff: Loved our room. Will be difficult to come down from our Cat 4 high since that will never happen again. Would definitely prefer starboard side though next time. Castaway Cay would have been better had we not been caught in torrential rain. :( Was bummed we had to cut our bike ride short, but glad we did. We were getting off the tram by the ship as the cats and dogs began! At least we are rebooked and will get to visit again. I loved what we got to do there. Food is better than Royal Caribbean, but I think Carnival has them beat. For the included food that is. Palo is unbeatable.

Great stuff: the service on the Magic is by far the best of any of the other many cruises I've been on. If I even looked like I might have a question, someone would stop and ask if I needed any help. Our servers at dinner were amazing. Couldn't have been happier. St. Thomas was amazing. We chose a less known beach based on a recommendation in The Passporter. So glad we did it. Gorgeous and close to the pier. Loved the family bike ride on Castaway Cay. Food was awesome there too. Shows were amazing. By far best of all the cruises. Loved Twice Charmed and adored Dreams.

Not so good stuff: Not much. Ship was on the smaller side compared to what we are used to, but since I barely saw any DISers, it must have been much bigger than I realized. I only felt like the ship was small when it was mid day by the pool. So crowded. But deck chairs not really an issue as I anticipated. I didn't really see any saving and people did clear out if they weren't using it. St Maarten was not so great, but only because we stayed local and just took the water taxi to the beach near the pier. Should have left the kids in the club and gone on the ATV tour. That sounded spectacular. Again...next time. St. Maarten where we went was full of locals shoving their wears in your face or asking me to have Paige's hair braided. And if you got to meet Paige this week...uhhhh hello, the child has like NO HAIR!!

Did some DIS research on the Disney Dream today and it looks like everyone is speculating 3/4 day itineraries. :( I was really hoping to do a 7 day. Guess we'll find out for sure on October 29th. Fingers crossed.

We watched our photo slideshow last night and the video of our trip. I cried. I hate the first week after vacation. Just keep thinking about what I was doing this time last week.

Made it home Saturday evening. Went to take the memory card out of my camera and realized the camera is GONE! :confused3 It was left in a seat by the baggage claim in Chicago. I spent all of Sunday calling to see if anyone turned it in. :mad:Of course it will never be seen again. I had over 400 pictures on there. If anyone has pictures from Castaway Cay and pictures from around the ship that they can post I would really appreciate it. We have about 125 pictures from our video camera and all of the stuff I recorded. My daughter cried for hours because she was holding it and she left it there. Oh well, at least we have all of great memories. Thanks for all of the great FE gifts!

Ana, thanks for the recap! Good to hear your thought on comparisons regarding Disney vs. other ships. Life in itself is a lesson to be learned, and it is awesome to have a "to do" list for the next cruise! ;)

I heard Dreams will be doing the 3/4 nights as well. Maybe they will change it up a bit before the unveiling?:confused3

Oh, I'm so sorry! That is horrible news!:scared1: Bigferrell is out of town already, left yesterday, but he'll be home tonight. If you pm me your email address we'll share our link where you are welcome to download any pics that you would like. Many of our pics feature our kids, but there are certainly some that don't, and you are welcome to them!

Wow, sorry to hear that! The camera is 'just' money and that's what insurance is for, but the pics.......

I'll be posting my pics online for some friends. Might take me a couple days to do so, but when it's done I'll give you the URL so you can copy whatever you like. Most of my pics of ship and islands do not feature anybody else. Also have some video of the ship and the firework, but you might have to take my talking with that one. ;)

Ana, recap sounds like a good thing! I'll follow your lead.

Good stuff; the food. Being very OK with doing cat 11 next time, also thanks to Bobbie for having a peek into their stateroom. The shows, the overall service, the medical service -have seen it A LOT worse-. Getting home and finding I spent a lot less money then expected, minus the medical stuff. Having insurance that'll cover the medical stuff. Palo.

Great stuff; making some great friends. Leo and Sindy, our serving team. The weather (for St. Maarten we were expecting rain anyway as it's Dutch, and we shall not mention Castaway Cay), Castaway Cay, having an almost empty ship when getting back to it early when in port.

Not so good stuff; the-thing-that-has-been-mentioned-enough. Last night and it's suitcases. The stateroom hosts would make it work for us eventhough they were there twice a day with their carts. Not so with the folks basically throwing their luggage out. Allover the hallway if one wants to put it mildly. Took me 3 stateroom hosts to make my way to the elevators. Maybe feeling like a stuffed turkey halfway through. Maybe, not sure yet. :rotfl2:

Fair is fair, DCL is still on the 'let's deal with the complaint' wagon. Just got a call from DCL mainland. Basically, they're looking into what to do for future accessibility and the new ships. Another thing adressed is informing future guests. They also offered compensation in the form of our choice (shipboard credit for future cruise and/or refund right now). Don't know what to think of the amount offered yet. Can not decide for Lieske anyway, nor would I want to. ;)

At least none of the cr*p we got from the first CM while aboard, so that's a big plus. Hopefully we'll get to a point that's satisfactory for all involved and I'll be in the agony of a long count down to a next cruise again. ;)

Oh my gosh. I'm so sorry to read your post. I can imagine how heartbreaking. Let me tell you...we went through the video on Sunday. The video was so precious to me. I felt so bad that I had complained about each time Ernie was taking video, but was so happy to have that video of the trip. What type of media does your video record on (tape, memory card?). With our last camera we used tape to record video, Ernie would digitally upload it to our computer and we were able to extract photos from the video. It's much easier to do it now because the video is now on a memory card. Just an idea.

Glad to hear that Disney is hearing and working on your issues! That is the Disney I know! Your input is extremely valuable in shaping the way for future cruisers with disabilities, albeit unfortunate what you experienced personally. I hope it all works out in the end and you are happy with the resolution process! :thumbsup2 Keep us in the loop!
