Sept. 26,2009 Magic part 2

Male, I doubt it you jinxed the weather at CC.

Fire, they've got navigation systems these days that can make life a lot easier.:grouphug:

MalDH; yet another one I didn't loudly blab out the problem to? Sjeez, and all the while I was thinking I was too load about it. :lmao::rotfl2: Basically, more than a year out I upgraded the stateroom from an 11 to a 6. After talking to DCL, explaining what I can and can't do and making sure I would be able to open that door on my own. DCL promised I could open it unassisted. Get to the stateroom, found a verandah door that we couldn't have opened if our lifes depended on it.

It took me dozens of calls and visits to Guest Relations. Lots of times being told to wait in the stateroom, within X-time somebody will show up and we'ld need to show the problem. Nothing happened. Communication was so poor, they eventually got the bridge involved. Took until Monday before we got a manager that picked up properly. By then, I could finally start to have time to enjoy the ship. Only thing I got out for on saterday was food, sunday the cabin tour -yes this was the reason I was late :lmao: - and food. Thuesday they finally told us there was nothing that could be done onboard, the verandah door was inaccessible, period. They offered to open and close it 24/7 at a call from us, but I was so done with the whole thing by then. Crystal also offered  , but the whole want-to-use-the-wretched-verandah was totally gone by then. Was happy enough on deck 9.

So at the moment, I'm working with DCL on 2 things;
- future guests. Informing them more proactively and handing out proper info!!! Also there is no need for this to happen on the Dream and Fantasy.
- paying a lot of money for an upgrade we never would've done based on the right info.

And as Crystal can vouch for by now; I'm never short when starting to blabber like this. Sorry. :upsidedow

Well I wasn't driving for one thing and a few signs pointing way to airport would have been fine. It gives me more reason to stay Moderate :) Granted I love Pop and if i had a room there I'd have been happier all the way around

I finally finished the video of the cruise Saturday, after about 4 hrs. of work. I bought this video camea back in June and only practice with it a couple of times. It is nice though that you can cut stuff out like the ground, move scenes around or shorten them and add transitions between scenes. The main reason I bought it is so I can make DVD, since VHS are a thing of the past.

I watch this video and it doesn't even seem I was there.

By the way it's cold out here we might even get some snow flurries this week.
Oct. 23rd 2010 can't come son enough.

Then the fact that you have driven it before has nothing to do with it. ;) Not your fault as long as you're not driving, after all. :rotfl::lmao:

Why happier if you had a room at POP? Confused, must have missed something? :confused3 Had the idea you loved POR.

I loved POR but at per night price I can stay 2 at value resort. If we had stayed at POP I would have not felt so isolated and the signs showing way to places are much easier to follow and there are lots of them, Being at ASMu I felt like we were out in boonies and the signage in that area is lacking IMO. Plus both times we've stayed at ASMu we've had room at farest reach of resort it was closer to walk to assp or asmo.

Ah money, yeah can understand that motive. Same feeling here with Mod and Deluxe. ;)

POP in itself I can understand, it doesn't have so many fans for nothing after all. Was just a bit surprised after the lovely time you had at POR. But now totally understand. :goodvibes After seeing some POP for myself, I think even I could fall in love with it. And I am a spoiled bratt. :flower3:

Fair is fair, DCL is still on the 'let's deal with the complaint' wagon. Just got a call from DCL mainland. Basically, they're looking into what to do for future accessibility and the new ships. Another thing adressed is informing future guests. They also offered compensation in the form of our choice (shipboard credit for future cruise and/or refund right now). Don't know what to think of the amount offered yet. Can not decide for Lieske anyway, nor would I want to. ;)

At least none of the cr*p we got from the first CM while aboard, so that's a big plus. Hopefully we'll get to a point that's satisfactory for all involved and I'll be in the agony of a long count down to a next cruise again. ;)

Jackie,
What happened? Sounds like you had some issues?

**Never mind...read what happened. So sorry, glad that they are working with you and that you can be an advocate others!

Just got back yesterday after seeing the Blue Man Group on Saturday and 2 days at Universal Studios. THe Blue Man show was great, but Universal was a little underwhelming for us. I guess we're just diehard Disney freaks.

I'm very dissapointed that we didn't rebook while onboard, but the Mediteranean prices were a little ridiculous I thought and we don't have any interest in going to Alaska. I guess Disney is just out for us next year as I have no iterest in the 3 and 4 night cruises

Unfortunately I've been searching Royal Carribean and Norwegian and can't find anything that really works for our dates on them either. I did find 2 cruises on Carnival, one on the Dream and one on the Freedom that sound interesting. Has anyone ever done a cruise on either of those ships. The kids weren't really interested in the Characters this year anyway, and when they saw pictures of the waterpark and minigolf they went crazy.

Mark

We are doing the Carnival Dream Oct 9th 2010. We can't wait to see this new ship! We got great rates, too. 4 of us for $2300 in a balcony room and this includes trip insurance. So pysched!

Wow, that is a nice price you got for the Carnival cruise! Where will you be going? Same itinerary or different?

Thanks.

Tell me about it! We're doing the Eastern as well. I think we're going to Nassau as our 3rd port. We did a Carnival in July 2008 and loved it. So we're excited to be trying their new ship. Of course, I would take DCL any day- my DH not so much. He was less than thrilled with the menu selections. :(

How does the menu differ from Carnival? Hmm, would love to jump into your suitcase. :rotfl:

Did everyone keep the FatCat magnet?

DH is a total "meat and potatoes" guy. He just wasn't happy with the menu selection. He even ordered off the kids menu one night. He thought there was not enough beef selection (one per evening) and way too much seafood. The food he got was good, he just didn't care for the selections. Personally, I like trying new and different things. However, I was a little surprised at how fancy (but good!) their food was.

On Carnival, the menu has a much broader selection. Basically, even amounts of seafood, beef, pasta, chicken every night. Plus there is the option of a plain steak, chix, or salmon. And DH wanted just a plain tossed salad a few nights on the Magic and they didn't have it. He liked that on Carnival, they cater a little more to the "pickier" eater.

I think that was his only disappointment. That, and our stateroom host. She did an okay job, but she never finished our room before 2pm and then had turndown at 6. And there were a few times that she missed cleaning up a few things. Again, her service was good, not great. I've definitely had better. Plus, we didn't even know who she was until Wednesday. Never saw her!

Hmm, I can imagine his 'beef' ;) with the DCL menu. And no plain salad to be had? Shocked, to be honest! PS; did you see the finer print on the DCL menu's? They offer plain steak, chicken breast and salmon as a 'light fare' every evening.

Stateroom host indeed doesn't sound like a blast. Never saw her until Wednesday, you would think she was hiding out or something. :confused3 I ran into the 4 different hosts along our room to the elevator like many times a day. Think I've seen them more often then my own roommate. :lmao:

Talked to DCL again about the door-thingy. Let's say we've got a difference of opinions. Going to let things settle in for a moment, don't want to act on spur of the moment things. Doesn't really sit right at the moment.

I used my head server to assist with my picky eating.

I had creme brulee/escargot brought from other restaurants when the normal 3 dining rotation was in play.

We also had King Crab one evening for dinner.

Just pre-ordered it the night before.

Gotta work the system.

OHHHHH. So I assume Sftnslky has something to do with the New Orleans Saints.

I always thought it meant Soft and Silky. :confused3

Actually you guys were the one couple I do not think I ran into. Was a little upset I did not get to meet you personally. Or I did meet you and I am feeling really dumb right now.

OK I just looked at the PJ Breakfast pictures on facebook and I did not see any VS outfits. :surfweb:

Please tell me how this works??

Waiting for the Disney Dream announcement on October 29th. We will book our cruise then. :) If it's a 3/4 day run, then maybe a back to back. Anyone ever do this?

I like the idea. I just hate Nassau

Fatcat, we didn't meet you either. But funny story: my wife (momtotwogirls) thought she saw you one day, so she went up to this guy and asked, "Are you Factcat?" The guy told her no - said he was not fat and was really offended! Oops.....
