No, Becky, you cannot delegate me as the "official organizer" for the first meet. That is the primary responsibility of the BVP Holder.Nice try... And I thought we were Buddies...

DIDI (and All) ~ Having participated inlike this before, my recommendation is getting together at the just before the Sail-Away Party - Mid-Ship, One Deck Above the Festivities.... Here's my reasoning ...
First - When folks first arrive, they are usually pretty tired from travelling and have to go thru the check-in drill. DCL rectifies this by serving a nice lunch at Parrot Cay & TopSiders. Chrystinaand I prefer Parrot Cay.
After that, everyone wants to find their cabins (and their luggage), maybe take a shower, nap, and such... Then there is the LifeBoat Drill. Don't forget what happened to Suzanne74 and the NAP Police.
Even though many folks will have already found each other and made introductions ... the first real activity that lends itself to ais the BVP (Sail-Away) party. That way Earlies & Latelies - Uppities & Lowlies can all get together (or not) at a leisurely pace. Not sure, but I would think that very few folks skip the BVP Sail-Away... ... just need to select side (port or starboard). Either side works because you can watch the land slip away and/or look down at the deck below as the festivities begin. All the Kids (including Larry, David & Me) will get good views of the first Character arrival .... Anyhow, that's my reasoning.
DIDI ~ Tell us where to be .... Just trying to feed that "control thing".
David - If you are going to put together some checklist, let me know what I can provide to help - I have quite a bit already. Just need to remember to maintain infosec for all.
Well, Can hear Chrystina coming in with the "rented kid" ... Need to go ...

I fully understand the value of "payback".
is also an Eeyore fan but since Becky already went after a donkey (Eeyore), she wants to be a Cricket, as in Jiminy. Looks to me like you are making the checklist
Someone asked about being on the the side of the boat where the folks with the Mickey Hands are waving Goodbye. I think that would be the Port side since the ship is usually pointed with the BOW end in after docking....
Are you listening to the requests of your adoring subjects?

We are just driving, you all can fly cheaper than we can from our area. So for a family of 5 we always drive. It's about a 7.5 hour drive to WDW, so I'm figuring about an hour more to the cruise terminal.
But in reality, we probably wouldn't get there until midnight (if DH left work slightly early), and then we would be leaving by around 10:00am to get to the port early. So I really don't know if its worth it try to drive all the way to WDW just for the one night. After the cruise we are staying at Boardwalk villas for the one night (we are DVC members) and are plans are to go to Blizzard Beach after we get off the ship. We want to postpone going home for as long as possible!
.
Gotta love that word "FREE"

But everyone probably has a favorite (or a 2nd or 3rd) Disney character. I'm lovingly
referred to by my family as 'Grumpy'
But I picked up that label years ago before I found WDW!
or I could go with my DDs current favorite Lumpy the heffalump. Count me in as another Eeyore fan but for David's List I think I'll just stick with my other favorite mouse, Gus-Gus from Cinderella
.

ErinC: I bet you could get a decent room in Ocala for $40+ in a 2 star hotel through Priceline.
David
I also have had this other thought, which none of us want to think about, but if for some reason our cruise was delayed due to bad weather, I would much rather be holed up on Disney property vs. some hotel in Ocala! I know we don't want to think about it, but hey, we have a few close calls here lately!

If so, I'm sure the ladies that previously said they would sing could do a little jig and sing on the table at dinnertime. Any volunteers? I'm sure I will get plenty of volunteers the night of the pub crawl.

my DH is wondering what is going on with me at this moment.
The Moose lemonade
will wash down those Peanut butter covered Moose Nuggets for sure!!!
, I don't want her to get in the way of a romantic evening, that is if you DH forgives you for re-organizing the kitchen.
I hear that three's a crowd and
it can be quite crowded if you only booked dinner for one.

!!
I'll get back to all with one. I have do some thinking but my brain is shutting......off.
