Well, it is maybe 5 minutes later and I am still in El Paso (Homebody!)

No, Becky, you cannot delegate me as the "official organizer" for the first meet. That is the primary responsibility of the BVP Holder. :wizard: Nice try... And I thought we were Buddies... :confused3

DIDI (and All) ~ Having participated in :grouphug: like this before, my recommendation is getting together at the just before the Sail-Away Party - Mid-Ship, One Deck Above the Festivities.... Here's my reasoning ...

First - When folks first arrive, they are usually pretty tired from travelling and have to go thru the check-in drill. DCL rectifies this by serving a nice lunch at Parrot Cay & TopSiders. Chrystina  and I prefer Parrot Cay.

After that, everyone wants to find their cabins (and their luggage), maybe take a shower, nap, and such... Then there is the LifeBoat Drill. Don't forget what happened to Suzanne74 and the NAP Police.

Even though many folks will have already found each other and made introductions ... the first real activity that lends itself to a :grouphug: is the BVP (Sail-Away) party. That way Earlies & Latelies - Uppities & Lowlies can all get together (or not) at a leisurely pace. Not sure, but I would think that very few folks skip the BVP Sail-Away... ... just need to select side (port or starboard). Either side works because you can watch the land slip away and/or look down at the deck below as the festivities begin. All the Kids (including Larry, David & Me) will get good views of the first Character arrival .... Anyhow, that's my reasoning.

DIDI ~ Tell us where to be .... Just trying to feed that "control thing".

David - If you are going to put together some checklist, let me know what I can provide to help - I have quite a bit already. Just need to remember to maintain infosec for all.

Well, Can hear Chrystina coming in with the "rented kid" ... Need to go ...

CYA

Dennis

Dennis,

I think you misunderstand my intensions...my decision to nominate you was my way of trying to properly thank you for voluntering me as part of the entertainment line up at the pub crawl :earboy2: :smooth:  :rotfl2: ;)

Deanna,

Thank you for posting the info about Southwest. I have been meaning to for a while. I have done the same drill twice and gotten airfare down about $200. This i really the way to go and will make is easy to take another flight next year.

Larry

Wow folks!

The animal reference was not required, but your cracking me up! :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Anybody have any ideas on what they may want on a checklist?

I'd like feedback from any of you lurkers out there. Should I do this list or not? :confused3

Take care,

David

Good Morning ...

Becky ~ No, Your intentions were not missed. :earsboy: I fully understand the value of "payback".

Kim ~ Dinner reservation link complete. So far we have Ten Late Dinner reservations linked together. :grouphug:

David ~ I want to be Tigger - Chrystina  is also an Eeyore fan but since Becky already went after a donkey (Eeyore), she wants to be a Cricket, as in Jiminy. Looks to me like you are making the checklist

Deanna & all - Congrats on the SW$$$ thing. Sweet Deal!!! :Pinkbounc

Julie ~ Peanut Butter covered Moose Nuggets? Guess I will have to go hunt down SKIPPY the Moose ... Will see what I can do ~ :rolleyes1

Deanna - GroupMeet (Deck 10?) just before the festivities start gets evryone ready to PARTYyyyyyyyyy!!!! Someone asked about being on the the side of the boat where the folks with the Mickey Hands are waving Goodbye. I think that would be the Port side since the ship is usually pointed with the BOW end in after docking....

DIDI - HIGH GODDESS of the BVP. :wizard: Are you listening to the requests of your adoring subjects? :rotfl2:

Wow! I did the Southwest thing (with Deanna's help) and now I also have a $376 dollar credit with them. WOO-HOO!! I won't be able to sleep tonight. I'm serious. Too excited!

Wow! You and Deanna should have about enough credit to cover plane tickets for another trip! That should give you both something else to start obsessing over! :rotfl: We are just driving, you all can fly cheaper than we can from our area. So for a family of 5 we always drive. It's about a 7.5 hour drive to WDW, so I'm figuring about an hour more to the cruise terminal.

I'm still obsessing about where to stay the night before the cruise. I was going to book a hotel in Ocala, FL which would leave us about a 2 hour drive Sat. morning. But the Swan/Dolphin is offering rooms for $99 a night with the teacher discount. Since I'm a SAHM, I don't use that teaching certificate very often, this could be my contribution to the family!! :rotfl2: But in reality, we probably wouldn't get there until midnight (if DH left work slightly early), and then we would be leaving by around 10:00am to get to the port early. So I really don't know if its worth it try to drive all the way to WDW just for the one night. After the cruise we are staying at Boardwalk villas for the one night (we are DVC members) and are plans are to go to Blizzard Beach after we get off the ship. We want to postpone going home for as long as possible! ;)

Hope everybody has a great day! I'm determined to get my Grand cayman excursion plans finalized today!

Happy Wednesday everyone,

Thanks Dennis for linking us.

Congrats to the Southwest savers :cool1: .

David: I have to give myself an animal reference??? I'll have to think about that one

ErinC, we are, more than likely, going to BB Sat after leaving Port too. We couldn't get FF tickets on United to fly home till Sunday.

Got DH's vouchers from Best Western yesterday for our 2 free Hotel stays in Orlando :cool1: Gotta love that word "FREE"

Have a great day everyone,
Did we scare away another Newbie??? :confused3

Hi All,

ErinC: I bet you could get a decent room in Ocala for $40+ in a 2 star hotel through Priceline.

Everybody: You don't need to pick an animal. :sad2: But everyone probably has a favorite (or a 2nd or 3rd) Disney character. I'm lovingly  referred to by my family as 'Grumpy' But I picked up that label years ago before I found WDW! :wizard: :rotfl:

Anybody going to try and watch the shuttle today at 3:51 EST? I'm hoping for a delayed evening launch on 9/24. :goodvibes

Gotta scoot.

David

Well, in honor of Dennis and the Moose nuggets, I guess I could go with Tuke, the moose from Brother Bear ;) or I could go with my DDs current favorite Lumpy the heffalump. Count me in as another Eeyore fan but for David's List I think I'll just stick with my other favorite mouse, Gus-Gus from Cinderella :).

Hope all are well.

David: I'm with you, hoping for a delayed launch on 9/24 too.

Welcome Joannie

One more week and I'll be heading off to San Diego and then to Disneyland :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I vote that we do the checklist. However, if we are the losers, we ain't buying any drinks for anyone! We're poor. My tired old DH is working his Eeyore off just trying to pay for the trip itself. However, I am more than willing to bring a prize token! Dennis may have moose nuggets up there (pointing North-West), but we have a fine collection of Moose lemonade at our end of the woods.

kcatoir:
Which Best Western are you staying at? We also got "free" stays. We will be at the BW International Plaza before the cruise and at the BW Lake Buena Vista after.

David

David, I've done priceline several times before, and most of the time we have gotten pretty lucky. We've done the BW in Ocala for like $32 w/breakfast, and it was a fine no frills place. But since that time there are a couple of properties that I don't think that I would be very happy with in that area, so I'm kinda nervous about doing that again. Last time, I bid for the Gainesville area and got the LaQuinta, and the reviews didn't look to good. So we just drove on to Disney World and let the $35 LaQuinta reservation go. If we do Ocala, I've been looking at the Country Inns and Suites(it's new). I can get a double Queen room with breakfast for $72 online. Not too bad of a deal, and at least I know what I'm getting. But then there's my quest to stay at every resort on Disney property that makes me want to do the Swan/dolpin thing! ;) I also have had this other thought, which none of us want to think about, but if for some reason our cruise was delayed due to bad weather, I would much rather be holed up on Disney property vs. some hotel in Ocala! I know we don't want to think about it, but hey, we have a few close calls here lately! ;)

Wow, between the Giraffe comment & the Eyore comment. Your making my sides hurt.

ErinC: Good luck w/the hotel. Don't make your DH drive until midnight! Well, I guess you could if you wanted too. I allways sleep better the closer you get to WDW. ;)

Oops! Almost forgot. I saw a 3 star hotel on www.hotwire.com in the Ocala area for $68. Also, you can do some research at www.betterbidding.com. I may not have that 2nd URL correct.

Gotta run out for errands.

C'ya...

72 Days 0 Hrs 22 Mins 9 Secs until we leave Logan via JetBlue!!!

kbslex: I also vote for the game. It sounds fun. :cool1:

Gilesfamily: Don't worry. By the end of the cruise we are all going to be complaining how poor we are. Especially after the sticker shock of our KTTW card purchases! :guilty:

Anyone out there dressing in costume for pirates night? pirate: pirate: pirate:

Dennis- did the Disney dining lady say how she will seat us? Will we be at two large tables, or many small ones? Just curious. No need to call her if you don't know answer. :mickeybar

Anyone celebrating a special occasion while on board? Any birthdays out there during the cruise? :bday: If so, I'm sure the ladies that previously said they would sing could do a little jig and sing on the table at dinnertime. Any volunteers? I'm sure I will get plenty of volunteers the night of the pub crawl. :drinking1 :rockband:

I tried to edit my post real fast but Cujobugs just got in under the wire.

Funny you should ask! I just got Bailey and Jack's pirate costumes in the mail this week and they are so, so cute! Of course, I had them put them on immediately and I have already taken many pictures. I don't think I could talk Clint into dressing up.

Giles family- I added another picture to my signature if you can see it. It is very small and I can't figure out how to increase the size. I only put it in there because you were referring to yourself as a giraffe. I just wanted you to see the other giraffe that will be at the DIS sail away party. It is a pic of me and my husband. As you can see, he is very tall. 6'4". I am 5'5" and look like a shrimp next to him. So there you go! You won't be the only giraffe! Deanna

Thanks cujo. That makes me feel better. I'm 6'1 or 6'2..it seems to depend on the day the week. Your DH and I will keep progress on the weather up in our hemisphere. My DH is 5’8, so he knows how you feel. Of course, I do mean things when I’m so inclined, like putting all the dishes WAY up on the top cupboard shelf, just to be able to watch him try to jump to retrieve a cup. I know..I find strange ways to amuse myself. Now that I heard he is having a fling with Minnie on the ship I may have to totally re-organize the kitchen!

I read somewhere that the bathrooms in the staterooms are rather “compact” for us tall people. I read somewhere that someone’s DH who was 6’2 JUST fit under the shower. You may want to warn your DH that he may have to shower on his knees.

Oh, for the celebrations, our anniversary is on Oct. 2. We kinda missed it by a day, but maybe I’ll mention it for our Palo reservation to acknowledge our anniversary. That is, if Minnie will move over. ::MinnieMo :rotfl2:

Giles family- My DH read your post. He likes the one about reaching things in the cupboard. He is always making fun of me for getting a chair to reach things! Did you play sports like basketball or volleyball? He played basketball.

Well I guess I'm giving everyone the day off about obsessing about something. It seems this trip is getting planned perfectly.

Have a great night! Deanna

I leave for two days and then I play catch up. Giles I'm in pain from laughter, :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl: my DH is wondering what is going on with me at this moment. :rotfl2: :rotfl: The Moose lemonade :drinking1 will wash down those Peanut butter covered Moose Nuggets for sure!!!

Since it will be your anniversary I will get rid of your husband's date ::MinnieMo, I don't want her to get in the way of a romantic evening, that is if you DH forgives you for re-organizing the kitchen. :rolleyes1 I hear that three's a crowd and  it can be quite crowded if you only booked dinner for one.:crowded: :rotfl2:

Deanna, I have an event it's a :bday: !!

Since I am taking notes about meeting for lunch or Deck 10. I think meeting for lunch would be a good thing. I have to think more on this, I'm fading fast and it's past my bedtime.

Animals... I'll get back to all with one. I have do some thinking but my brain is shutting......off.

Night all!! :grouphug: :grouphug:
