pirate: Avast Ye Swobs! pirate:

EVERY pirate must know Pirate lingo. This a simple rule. You simply MUST.
Ye=You
Ahoy=Hello
Sea Dog=Experienced Sailor
Seaworthy=Title given to a man or a ship, indicating the subject is capable of handling the sea.
Matie=Term used to a crew member of equal or lower rank.
Grog=A Beverage.See "What is Grog?"
Grub=Food
Dungbie=Rear-End
Swag=Stolen Loot
Swig=To Drink
Keelhaul=To Drag under the keel of a ship for the purpose of punishment or torture.
Flog=To, in front of a pack of his crewmates, beat a barechested member of crew in the back with a rod or whip as form of punishment.
Yeller=Cowardly
Gleemful=Good
Fer=For
Salty=Crude
Arrrr/Argh!=A phrase EVERY pirate says, usually to express displeasure, but often just out of habit and for no reason at all.
Blow the man down!=Shoot him.
Shiver me Timbers!=Can mean a variety of things, including a phrase to indicate a chill, fear, or excitement.

"Walk the Plank" is pretty self-explanatory but could be used when dealing with the lushes who might get out of control on this trip!

Wow! It took me a good long while to translate from "pirate speak" to English, but I think I got it. Since I will be trying to look after my 2 kids, I don't know how many pubs I will be able to partake in, but sign me up!

cujobugs- Yes, this is our second cruise this year. It will probably be our last for a long time. :( Because of my husband's work, we can't travel in the spring or summer. That leaves winter and fall and with my daughter starting school, it will only get harder and harder each year to pull her out of school. I wasn't planning on another cruise so soon, but I thought I should take advantage of this time.

Oh, and we moved our cabin to a lower category, but higher on the ship and more toward the middle, no window or porthole though. It's cheaper and hopefully I won't arf!

Take care! :sunny:

:earsboy:
Can't wait to set sail! We did the Eastern Carribean last year...and invited my parents this time! Other friends tried to book same cruise, but were told the ship was sold out. I have a new baby that will be 8 months old....and I'm worried about getting my daycare times...is it as difficult as it seems to get babysitting times?

;) Welcome Gwynn. I see this is your first post. I can't answer your babysitting question since I don't have babies, and I've never cruised on Disney. Don't worry though, Power Alaska isn't bringing any kids. I'm sure we can all give them our kids routinely. They won't mind if we dump our children on them. Will you Power Alaska? :rotfl2:

What state are you from?

I would be surprised if this cruise was sold out, as B&J's mom just booked this week.

Folks,

We will be taking out first DCL cruis on 9/24/05

We are currently in cabin 2642. I have heard that it is loud. Any feedback on how loud is loud.

Family - Me (38), DW (35), DS (10), DD (7). We live near Houston and have been to WDW twice (2003, 2004).

We are homeschoolers so we will take an official Fall Break week.

Interested in your ideas concerning renting a car and dropping at PC. I see that Budget has this option. For <$30 for a mid size it seems like the best (cheapest) way. I read somewhere they will bus us to the port. Has anyone else tried this? If so why should I not do this? Thinking about getting a room in Orlando on 9/23/05, and driving over. If we get into Orlando early enough we may even squeeze an afternoon at WDW on our unused hopper tickets.

For the return I was thinking of reversing the process. If we get a late flight on 10/1 or one one 10/2, I still think we come out ahead on transfers.

If someone can explain why I should not do this I'm very interested. We rented a car last year at MCO and it was easy but we came in late at night.

With Southwest Airlines airfare should be very cheap. They are currently taking ressies up to 9/12/05 but I'm watching and will post when our week comes open.

Well I have rambled on too long. We look forward to meeting you all. Anyone with kids of similar ages please post.

Thanks for the laughs...I needed that

TX Disney Fan: Welcome to the cruise. It will be our first cruise also. I've been waiting for someone with a DS 10. :earsboy: My son has been wanting a chat buddy. :Pinkbounc His sister is 8 so she won't be in the same groups as my son. So he is interested in finding a friend. Let me know if your son types emails or not.

I have done a lot of research on the transfer thing. I agree with your decision of budget. After reading many threads about their company, it seems that most are pleased other than the long line at the port on the return from the cruise. It is definitely much cheaper and gives much more flexibility.

I have also been hovering over the Southwest website and noticed they aren't booking late September yet. I will keep an eye on it for you also. :magnify: They are the only airline that flies non-stop from our KC airport.

Deanna

Welcome Tx disney fan, Yes budget is a great way to go we did it last time and already have a reservation for this year. Pick up at MCO take a short drive to Cocoa beach and they shuttle you to the port.....piece of cake. I will warn you their prices for Pc to MCO is about $20 more than from MCO to PC, go figure. If you need I have discount rates.

Dennis: Thanks for the Pirate Speak, Very funny. As it happens we are not big drinkers either but always enjoy a good party. Don't know how late I'll make it but we'll see :confused3 .

We are really looking forward to Cap Marvins, My boss did it a few months ago and said she was one of the "shreeking" women as the rays rubbed up against her for the first time.
We scheduled the 1/2 day leaving at 10am. We LOVE snorkeling and it was only $14 difference for the whole family for an extra 1/2 hr and additional snorkel site. For our family of 4 the 1/2 day trip is about $120. We booked directly through their web sit.

Cujo bugs: we are in rm 2016 we really liked that cabin the last time so we requested it again,,,,don't worry I'll save you in case of Ice berg :goodvibes

Welcome Gwynn: Sorry haven't ever used childcare but If you have a Passporter guide I think it talkes about it.

Smiling mouse: Your making us all very jealous!!!

Here's a little pixie dust to get us all through the next 5 months :wizard:

Got to go.

Wow!!! Everybody came out to play!!! :banana:

Jamie - Not sure I've ever seen anyone really drunk on DCL. Except maybe a table mate one time. BUT "walk the plank" it will be. :Pinkbounc Shows you how often I am in the bars.

Gwynn - Welcome aboard!!! :wave: Are you saying your friends can't book this date because this cruise is "sold out"? :confused3 Just looked at a cruise.com website and they appear to be still booking... Anyhow, if you have read this thread at all, you will now know that, since you are the "new guy", you are responsible for arrangements for the Bon Voyage party. :banana: Of course, I do know on good authority :earboy2: that you will get to pass the baton very soon.

CujoBugs - Kids? NO problem here ... :jumping1: Taught 2nd grade a VERY long time ago ... Some of the best fun I ever had ... My bride and I used to do foster care too ... until it broke my heart and we had to quit.

TX Disney - Welcome :wave: My wife lives in TX too (El Paso) so you guys are "neighbors". I'm of no help when it comes to transport questions. We plan to take Magic Express from MCO to WDW. Spend a couple of days and then DCL Bus both ways. Unless somebody who is renting a LIMO wants to give us a ride? :rolleyes1

That would probably be SmilingMouse (Becky) since she is the DCL Idol and can afford to do the DCL twice in the same year. :3dglasses

Oh by the way, TX Disney, don't forget to get the Bon Voyage Party baton from Gwynn - she has all the instructions too!!! :rotfl2:

Becky - Glad I could be of help and it brightened your day. Was just writing for the fun of it, so I am glad you found it funny. :banana:

KC - Pretty sure that the "Magic Pub Tour", will be more of a :grouphug: than a :drinking1 binge. If Chrystina has more than two glasses of wine, I will be carrying her back to the cabin. :love: I can make up an itinerary and timeline and if anyone who shows can be in a :grouphug: picture. Have been wondering whether or not to haul a laptop along for downloading pictures ... but still undecided :confused3 Would rather use one on board and transfer pics to a flash drive. Thoughts anyone?

Okay, well, I have to go back my rods & reels ... fishing next week!!! :Pinkbounc

Good Night all

Dennis

TX disney family~I can't help you with your transportation question as I am taking Disney transport. We are happy to have you joi our crazy pirate-speaking crew.

Jamie, I'm with Dennis, I've only seen one cruiser who had too much to drink on both of my cruises.

Dennis, I probably wouldn't take the laptop....it 's a pain to travel with computers, and I'd worry a bit about security in the hotel rooms...

I'm off to the land of nod....

Night all,

Becky

Its great to see more folks joining in.

How many more "Lurkers" are there out there?? :wave2:
Don't be afraid, join on in. You better join fast though if you don't want to be stuck with the "batton". :wizard:

Now that we know, at least most of us, where our cabins are. What dining rotation has everyone choosen if you have??? We will be trying late this time, kids are getting older and we don't want to be rushed to get back to dress and get to dinner. Plus on our last DCL we weren't even hungry at 6pm.

Is it time to go yet????
Its raining again :sad2: :sad2:
Luckely I have something to look forward to in the mean time, Vegas in June, just me and DH :cool1: :love2: .

O.K. Off to work! :badpc:
