Sept. 23, 2012 Pacific Coast - Wonder Cruise

September 30th cruiser here :) just wondering if any of you will be posting on twitter or instagram during your cruise, I know myself and others would love to get a sneek peek before getting on board. Have an amazing cruise guys!

I'm having the hardest time packing for my 7 year old! In the club is it best for the kids to have shorts/tshirt type clothing or is a sundress/casual dress ok? DD still likes to wear dresses/skirts/skorts when possible and I'm trying to figure out what to pack for her without including the entire closet!

Thanks!

Tell him that I would love to be his date to watch our arrival in San Francisco!!! But warn him that at that time of the morning...probably with no make-up...I might be scarier than the characters in the Haunted Mansion :lmao:

Oh...keep an eye on the news. I saw this morning that they will be flying the Space Shuttle (well, the airplane carrying it) over Disneyland on Friday morning. I'll see if I can find a time for you. What a cool thing to see!!!!

Careful what you agree to Miss Patti, his current favourite pre-dawn humming session mainly consists of the theme from Cars 2 or Petula Clarke's 'Downtown'. And I don't think my kids know what make-up is. Besides mascara or lippy only wear it a couple of times a year and none of my friends wear it either - we got old and gave up. :rotfl:

Rich just got the happies when I told hm about the plane/shuttle thing. He's a space nut and trying to convince us to head up to Griffith today but I think it's too far in the heat when I could be at a shopping mall getting another bag.

Here's the PIXAR list:
Toy Story (1995)
A Bug's Life (1998)
Toy Story 2 (1999)
Monsters, Inc. (2001)
Finding Nemo (2003)
The Incredibles (2004)
Cars (2006)
Ratatouille (2007)
WALL-E (2008)
Up (2009)
Toy Story 3 (2010)
Cars 2 (2011)
Brave (2012)

Upcoming: Monsters University (2013)

And Planes - Fall of 2013. My kids have watched that trailer endlessly. We can't wait for that one. At Disneyland they were handing out buttons for answering Pixar questions and the guy said he'd ask me a Cars question. I answered his question so fast he was flabbergasted, I didn't dare tell him we watch nothing else but those two movies. We ended up with 12 Cars buttons that first day. :lmao:

We had to Google 'Mimosa', it's a Buck's Fizz in the UK & NZ.

Current weather forecast (from weather.com)[/U]

Tuesday - San Francisco - High 64, Low 55, 10% chance of rain
Wednesday - San Francisco - High 65, Low 55, 10% chance of rain

WAHOOO! I AM SOOOO EXCITED TO BE CHILLY!!!!!!! Seriously, this SoCal summer has broken me. I'm a S.F. native, our family has been there since 1800's -- I love fog and clouds! It's in the blood! :cloud9:

And how much do I love that the second thing we plan after the actual GG bridge viewing is the "adult beverages" -- you guys rule.

I am like 99% sure I have seen Vegemite at the Cost Plus World Market a mile from me- do you want me to swing in and grab and jar of it for you??--its made by Kraft- is that the same thing as back home for you guys??

It's a lovely offer but it's too much to ask someone. Oli has to learn to adjust to stuff like other nations food. Travel was a huge part of our lives before the kiddos and he needs to try stuff out, he hasn't an allergy issue to worry about he's just being a 'fussy bugger'. There is so much choice aboard the ship and I'm sure he'll find something or survive on bananas, grapes and a box of goldfish crackers. He has this desire to have a whole fish to eat - the whole fish. :faint:

LOL!

I totally get the needing to train the kiddos to be less picky-- (I am a momma to a 12 year old with autism who has taken many years to overcome his sensory issues with food)

At any rate it really would be no big deal for me to drop in there and grab a jar if you think a bit of home will help- so just say the word if you change your mind. (Before Friday night LOL)

RE: GG Bridge viewing--- since they said we are likely to go under at 630am- we need to prepare for it being somewhat dark still as sunrise isn't officially until 7amish and there is usually a good layer of fog or cloud coverage early...just wanted to put that out there so everyone's expectations are not let down

I am wavering between trying to get us all up on deck for this or just popping out on our verandah for it--man I must seem so anti social (no FE, no cabin crawl :worried: )

LOL - isn't that funny :thumbsup2 I was going through my gift cards the other night and I told my DH "Look, we have about $250 in gift cards for this cruise....we can drink all we want to" :drinking1

We don't usually drink much on the cruises since we save our spending money on excursions and stuff for the kids, etc. So I'm excited to be able to have a drink with dinner without worrying if I'm running up our tab too much. We will carry on some alcohol for the room but I like trying the different drinks in the dining room at night. And of course spiked coffee in the Cove Cafe :cool1:

I spoke with my sister last night and she said that last week she was comfortable in San Francisco with long pants and a tank top (with a sweater for her shoulders later). But she also warned me to bring warm shoes and maybe even a jacket since it can go either way this time of year. She said the one thing that got really cold were her feet.

I'm not used to packing a jacket for the cruise but I know we had one really cold night on deck in April (while watching a movie on the funnelvision) and I know we will need a jacket to be on deck in the early morning when we go under the bridge. Now I just need to decide what jacket to bring.

In 7th grade Katie went on a 12 day school trip to Costa Rica. By the time she got home she had lost 12 lbs. We asked her why she lost so much weight. She told us that all they had to eat was beans and rice. Katie has always hated beans and rice. :lmao:

Bill

We missed going under the bridge last time so I would be up for trying to make it on deck in time to see it.

This is an absolute must for me, and since I usually get up at 4 AM, I'm not anticipating having any trouble catching our voyage "through the gate".

Oh boy that takes some resistance, over 5kgs in less than two weeks. Rich has just said he'd have put on about 50lbs on that diet and then would have been 'jet propelled' all the way home. :rolleyes2

I've got about five zip hoodies new and unworn in my bag from GAP and Disney (they subbed out the XL for an M for me yesterday at DL). You are welcome to wear one if you come up cold. I don't have formal jackets or anything tho'.

I'm now making a mental note that Frank is up earlier than Alex...;)

Took us five hours today to find a new bag. It's not pretty but it was cheap and does the job.

One day closer!!

DH purchased Giants tickets today so we are going to the baseball game Tuesday evening. Should be fun- and after a morning of treking in Muir Woods, the sitting at the game will be a welcome respite I am sure. Just need to get the transportation all ironed out. But then again, he found us on Facebook so could be that is even all ironed out by now. In our 12 years of cruising - this is the first thing he has planned - he even ordered the tickets! What a guy:cool1:!!

What a great idea to go to the Giants game! If the Tigers were playing (DH is from MI too) we'd definitely be there! I checked the A's schedule and they are playing the Rangers. Too bad! Enjoy the Giants game!

Totally agree - you guys rule. I plan to get up early to see the bridge and take photographs then with the help of the mimosas go back to sleep for an hour or two. ;)

I'm also a NorCal native (Eureka) and miss the daily 53deg weather. I've been in SoCal for 20+ years and get the June gloom but, oh, how I miss those year-round cozy foggy days.

A trip around the jogging "path" is .33 miles so it will take 39.7 laps for a half marathon. I think I'll settle for a few less laps. Any takers? I think I'll do better if I know someone else is counting on me to go!

Is there orange juice at the drink stations or will the continental breakfast in the buffet be set up that early? We can bring a bottle of champagne for mixing. I'll pour it into a pitcher in the morning and stick it in my bag for easy bartending.

I'll bring champagne as well. We wouldn't want to run out.:stir:

I'd be up for walking. I'm on new meds that make it so I can't do any kind of aerobic exercise. ( I miss Zumba! And walking up stairs!) But I can still walk on a flat surface! I was planning to hit the gym for the treadmills, but walking around Deck 4 with some company sounds nicer.

:cool1::cool1: Nearly there. I've been up since 3.30AM worrying about packing again. I've got the bag, I just haven't got all the surplus into the bag and the kids want Lego. We are supposed to be doing Magic Morning today and I'm not exactly feeling Magical, more like a stressed packer. I so badly want to have the kids in the Kids Club for awhile and be able to sit somewhere quiet. I love them but two weeks solid with them and DH is hard work - roll on boarding time.

Made the mistake of telling DH how many laps for a HM and now he's got that set in his mind. I don't think he'll PB as there are too many people on deck. I'm a jogger/runner but I've only got shoes and socks with me, no kit.

Good morning! Two more sleeps and we are on our way! Last night was my hair appointment so one more thing out of the way. Tonight I will start putting things in the suitcases.

lkbrittain - I can not take credit for the idea, there are others going. We are actually pretty late in joining in on the activity but DH likes to visit different ballparks so there we will be.

Don't know anything else that I can think of. Trying to stay focused and getting things done so I am not a wreck tomorrow. It should all be very interesting to see if I can actually accomplish that.

WOO HOO!!!! I did a big push on packing last night. It was all the organizational things like the first aid bag, the hair products, the make-up, etc. But instead of all being in a bunch of random piles, at least they are organized and ready to go into the suitcase.

I gave up on trying to save space by trying to figure out just one jacket that will work for everything. I'm just going to remember that we only have to drive 10 minutes in the car and there are these lovely porters that will deal with my excessive luggage, so I'm just going to throw in everything and not worry about it :rotfl2: :lmao:

Someone posted (don't remember if it was here, another thread or on fb) that sunrise isn't until 7:00 next week so I went outside at 6:20 this morning to see how light it was. I figured 6:20 would be close to what it will look like at 6:30 next week. And there was plenty of natural light to see things. So we should have no problem seeing the bridge (well, unless there is fog, LOL).
Within 10 minutes though, the sky was turning blue and the sun was starting to reflect off the clouds....just beautiful. I'm looking forward to seeing that sunrise as we sail into San Francisco :thumbsup2 :cool1:

My husband and I will probably be tweeting the occasional pic or travel update. I'm ImDMous and he's Kedrel. Hopefully I will remember to use the #DisneyWonder tag if that's easier to search by.

There was a beautiful picture posted on Twitter of sunrise coming under the bridge Tuesday, just a small line of light coming over the clouds but enough dawn to see the bridge but still the lights also. It was gorgeous.
