Sept. 23, 2012 Pacific Coast - Wonder Cruise

Linda - welcome! I also have an 8 yo daughter, Anna. Hopefully we can meet up at the meet & greet (3 pm Sunday, Promenade Lounge) and introduce ourselves. I know Anna would love to make a friend!

And wow, what a great surprise for Emily! I know I could never keep it secret! I can barely stop talking about it and can hardly contain my excitement!!!! Good luck keeping it a surprise!

Perfect - we'll be there! It's still a secret. We've told her we're participating in a test and they want to know how kids pack so she needs to pack all her stuff then we'll go the ship for the tour and they will ask her questions. She's already packed her Arielle doll into the Minnie Mouse suitcase. This is either going to be amazing or she will never believe another thing we tell her!

You may need another trip to the outlet store - for luggage! I find 'lady' shoes highly overrated (and painful). To think in my youth I wore 3 inch heels and worked on my feet all day and thought nothing of it. Now a kitten heel strikes fear in these old bones.

Too funny about your Skipper doll - I don't ever remember seeing those here. My brother would have broke that arm right off.

Yep I need another bag. I'll just do a Kmart one tho' I think, it only needs to hold together enough to get home.

Oh I'm the same, I used to stand in those three inch heels too. I remember going to a Bryan Adams concert in some boots with a friend who was also tall. Well we were about 6'1" in heels together and we stood second row back and these short guys behind us couldn't see beans and we had to swap with them! Now I wear heels for half a day and I'm walking like I'm 101 for the next two days. I've got flat black plain shoes for the cruise, I'll still have to bend slightly not to look like a giant compared to Rich. My kids always say 'Mummy will we be tall like you? We don't want to be short like Daddy?'

I have no clue where my Mother got the Skipper from, it was another attempt at avoiding having 'that growing up and changing talk' with me. First time round she bought me a book about the life cycle of frogs. I knew everything about frog at age seven! :lmao:

I've stuck my kids to bed and sent Rich out to Disneyland by himself. He 'got it' today. I was worried he wouldn't but he was skipping around like he was the one turning 5 today. So he's off to do the big rides tonight. The Radiator Springs Racers was kinda my limit in terms of ups and downs and waggly bits.

Welcome to everyone new, I'm off to do my final bits of labelling for the FE.

Marian - Awesome for Rich, nothing better than having that Disney feeling. :thumbsup2

I still act like a kid anytime I get near the place:cool1:

Gunka, how do you hang that shoe organizer? I have one with two loops, are there hooks on the door? Just trying to figure out if I need to bring some string or something to hang it with.

Thanks, mine looks exactly like that but without hooks. I guess I can either leave it at home or figure out how to add hooks.

Over the door shoe organizer....I had it on my list to buy. Any ideas on where to get it cheap? I looked on Target.com and they were $15 - 20 and I'm debating if it is worth paying $15 for or if I can find it cheaper somewhere else. It's not really something that I would use at home (I don't think) and initially I thought maybe they would be less.

Hi - visiting your thread - I bought a shoe organizer today at Big Lots. It cost $8 and they had other styles of hanging shoe and jewlery holders starting at $5.99. They didn't have one with hooks at the one I went to. Some had a coat hanger built in, but I chose one that didn't ...just holes, but tons of shoe pockets. And I have a plan... coat hanger and zipties. It will either be in the bathroom if there a door hook, or in the closet. Hope this helps you two. :yay: :yay:

You can count down the days on just one hand now!

:jumping3::Pinkbounc:bounce::jumping3::Pinkbounc: :bounce:

FIVE DAYS!!!

:jumping3::Pinkbounc:bounce::jumping3::Pinkbounc: :bounce:

BRING it on! Exhausting day yesterday - did a double for all intents and purposes I guess. So tonight will be sleep catchup and I probably won't get much done as by sleep catchup I mean to be in bed by 9:00 - lights and TV off and hopefully sawing wood.

Everyone have an awesome day today - we are going on a cruise - real soon!

For San Francisco we are renting a car and driving to see a live taping at the Brickhouse in Petaluma (Leo Laporte all about Android). DH just loves that geeky stuff with some wine tasting in Sonoma before.

That's a great idea, we love Leo! Too bad we already have an excursion planned. We have friends in Santa Rosa so eventually we'll get up to see both of them.

It cooled down a little yesterday and today here in San Diego, but it sounds like it's due to warm up again for the weekend. If anyone is heading to Temecula for wine or Escondido for the Safari Park, bring lots of water and sunscreen just in case. It was in the 100's in Temecula this weekend.

Would love to know who else are local to So Cal on the cruise. If you see a blonde lady in a red scooter, stop and say hi.... that's me.

Cruisin' in 5 days (yeah)! Is it too late to get on the meet and greet or the FE list?

I don't want to exclude anyone from the FE list - it's so much fun. I am updating the list (FE #2 List) with the two "new" additions from the last week. To lkbrittain & ewebwoman, some people may have their FE gifts all done, but some of us (like me) have not finished and can add you easily, so we'll keep your rooms as "if possibles". Hope that's ok!

Thanks everyone for being flexible.

See ya real soon!

Julie

Hope to see you and Will there.

Is anyone doing the Zoo on their own, or the Midway Museum or Belmont Park in Mission beach?

I have 3 $5 off coupons (good for up to 6 people) for the zoo
1 $4 off coupon for the Midway
2 coupons for some of the attractions at Belmont Park.

PM me if you would like one and if I still have the one you're interested in I'll put it in your FE before we get to San Diego.

If you still have a zoo coupon, I could use one. There are 6 of us going to the zoo, so one coupon would work out perfectly! We are in rooms 8072 and 8074 but we are not participating in a FE. I am not able to PM you since I do not have 10 posts yet. I would be happy to meet you somewhere on ship if that makes it easier. THANK YOU!

Since those "people" are on "our ship", does anyone know anyone who is on it this week ??? I was wondering which Pixar characters were aboard, how full the ship is, and what was the exclusive things to buy ( so I could budget accordingly -ha ha !!):banana::banana::rotfl2:

There is a thread going right now on the main DCL board called Pixar Cruises. Some of the people on board right now have been posting updates for us.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2992339

They let us know that the ship docks nose in when using Pier 35 North (which we will use) so starboard side has the view of the GG Bridge.

They also posted that they arrived in San Francisco about 6:30 am so if you are interested in being on deck when we go under the bridge, that will give you an idea of the time. A few of us were chatting about maybe having a little mini-group meet that morning to experience it together :thumbsup2

I asked about the special Pixar merchandise but no one has updated on that yet.

Welcome! I too have a 7 yr old daughter who keeps asking who she's going to play with! It's just her and I going so we'll definitely be at the meet & greet!

There are at least 4 other 6-7 year olds on the cruise, who will be at the meet. I hope they all hit it off at the meet and want to spend a lot of time in the clubs, so DH and I can get some adult time. ;)

Hi Westiepups, you got it...are you coming to the meetup at 3PM on the first day? I will bring the coupon then and if not I've made a note of your stateroom.

Crittsmom, I don't have your stateroom so please PM me or come to the meetup for your Midway coupon.
