Sept. 23, 2012 Pacific Coast - Wonder Cruise

Hair dryer I always bring my own, for multiple reasons but first because they are lousy dryers and second, I don't like to be tied to drying my hair in the bathroom. But, as with anything else, your mileage may vary.

OK, one week from to'now' as one of my kids used to say - I hope that I am still asleep as it will only be 6:30. I am so excited to meet everyone and visit the ports as they are new to me (not SD but I only went between the airport, Marriott and the convention center).

More clothing is hanging ready for packing, bags are out although I need to determine which of the smaller two is the largest. I am so hoping to do just two bags for check through. We shall see how that goes.

Weather in southern CA now looks to be a cooler day today than yesterday but still sweltering so you all stay cool. Looks much improved by the weeks end.

The Midway Tour is amazing. I was lucky enough to do it with my father who served on the same class of carrier and my father-in-law who served on the Midway. The were great tour guides. If you have any interest or history with the Navy it is well worth it.

If there is a current carrier (Like the USS Reagan) in port it is surprising to see the difference in size.

We did the Midway tour last year for my DS's birthday. We rode the Amtrak from LA Union Station to San Diego and then walked over to the Midway. After that we had lunch at Seaport Village. It was a really great tour.

It is so much cooler here today. It is almost noon and the sun just came out. Hopefully next Sunday will be like today. It is beautiful out right now

OK, it was beautiful before, now it is just hot again Still not as hot as yesterday but feels like we have more humidity because it is more miserable than yesterday. Well....we are leaving for the port soon and it should be cooler there (plus I won't be trying to get my house clean so that will help ). I just bought a new camera so if I can figure out how to operate it and download the pictures, I'll post some of the Wonder

Humidity can be the worst. I hope that you got to the port and it was at least bearable.

A week from 'tonow' we will have finished with our DIS meet and getting ready for the lifeboat drill. Since our station is always on the 'sunny side of the ship' I am thankful that we don't have to wear life vests anymore.

OMG its 1 week away!! I have been working so many hours I have not had time to keep up with the boards!! I packed my FE gifts last night and they took a small suitcase!! I just hope my FE shows up. I bought it on Etsy 8/10 and she promised it will arrive this week. Luckily I can have extra luggage since I am not going on a place. Great weather here in Cali! Today was not as hot!
For excursions we have nothing plan for San Fran and Ensenada. San Diego were taking the train over to Old Town. We like Rockin Baja Lobter so will have lunch and then tour Old Town. Did you all know the train is right across the street from the Pier? The Redline (local Train) and Amtrak. The San Diego local train is great and cheap.

Does anyone know if they sell ears on board? I know in Aulani they did not and I can't remember if the cruise does?

Just packed my two year old daughter She is bringing more shoes then me.

So I decided to pull dd's clothes today. After, I went to check what the weather is like right now in SF and 60's is cold to me! LOL I now need to go back and pull some long clothes for dd, maybe even a pair of jeans! We haven't worn jeans in MONTHS! What a difficult trip to pack for, weather speaking!

I learned today that my son's baseball tournament is in Fountain Valley next weekend. The good news is that it is on the way to the port. If his team makes it through Sat and they play Sunday, then I will probably watch him play and just board the ship later. I'm hoping to make it to the meet so if I'm not there, then that means my son's team did well!

They say it has to be sealed packages. But I bought some candy in bulk and put it into individual bags for my FE gifts on a previous cruise and it wasn't a problem.

For San Francisco we are renting a car and driving to see a live taping at the Brickhouse in Petaluma (Leo Laporte all about Android). DH just loves that geeky stuff with some wine tasting in Sonoma before. Dinner at Pier 39, Hardrock Cafe or maybe back on the ship. Second day in SF is Tour of Alcatraz, Walt Disney Family Museum with stops at Mrs. Doubtfire's house and other movie house for photo ops and the Yoda fountain at Lucas Studios. San Diego is the Natural History Museum cause we can go to San Diego anytime, it's close. Doing a spa and movie day while in Ensenada (been there lots of times). We are so excited. A whole week to ourselves.

In the spirit of better late then never - Hello!! This will be husband's and 8-year old daughter's first Disney Cruise and it's a surprise for the 8yo. She knows the ship is in town (we're local) and is begging us to go. We've told her we have permission to visit the ship next Sunday. Muhaha...

Looks like the FE list is closed but we would love to be part of the cabin crawl. We are in 6098.
