Sept. 23, 2012 Pacific Coast - Wonder Cruise

Hello – We just booked our first Disney cruise and just now found this thread. What a wonderful forum and wealth of information!

Can we still participate in the Fish Extenders? This is my first post so I can't PM yet. My husband and I just sent individual requests to join the FB page listed in this thread. We don't have our cabin assignment yet but would love for our 7 yr old son and 3 yr old daughter to join in the fun. Thanks!

Welcome! I will be traveling with a 7 year old as well (Actually he turns 8 before!) and there are MANY 2-3 year olds in this crowd!

Welcome to the thread, and to the cruise of course :thumbsup2
I also have a 7yr old ds and 3yr old dd (plus two more ;) ). Unfortunately the two FE groups have closed, but there may be some other late comers that might be happy to make a third?!

Welcome to the group!!!! I'm glad that you found us :cool1:

We will be having a group meet at 3:00 on Sail Away Day in the Promenade Lounge. Hopefully you can come by and join us.

Now that school is back in, we are hittin up DLR/CA tomorrow. Hopefully they won't be very crowded! We are celebrating DD's 3rd birthday which was yesterday. :) Have a good day!

OMG Marian, what a freak accident! And now of all times!!! I hope it is just bruised and not fractured, that wouldn't make for a comfortable flight or rides at Disneyland!!

:scared::scared::scared: OMG! They didn't tell you until you came to pick him up?! Here's hoping it's just a bruise. Poor little guy!

Not to make light of this, but I think there must be a great Buzz Lightyear's Rocket story in all of this that Alex can tell everyone on the cruise. Wish I could be there to hear it :rotfl2:

AussieMumma, yep it's a freak accident. Oliver was completely none the wiser about the whole deal as he was inside ready for mat time and can't work out what the fuss around Alex is all about. How's that for twin bond? ;)

Alex's teacher turned up last night at our home really worried about him. There was Alex bouncing around like Tigger, showing her all his stuff while Rich and I tried to explain it was just a freaky accident. She's is still really weepy about it this morning, I spent 75 mins with her and the kids doing other activities and telling her some of the other stuff our family manages to get into (like when I ran myself over with my own car). I think Alex will just get away with a large bruise and a bit of a story from it all, I just have to stop him from going up to his teacher and saying 'it's okay that you hit me with a rocket'. :headache:

I spoke to the Head Teacher, who was away yesterday, and she's going to get to the bottom of why the other teacher is so shook up. I think it's because she'd built herself up to telling me and I kept saying 'did he get wet?' as he'd been told to keep dry with his ear infection and then said 'ah it's okay, it's always my kids'. Head Teacher is getting rid of the rocket as she doesn't know where it came from in the first place. It goes off like it's full of compressed air aparently, so it goes a fair lick. It's a good thing Alex actually wasn't closer to it or got hit in the kidneys or he'd have been hospitalised according to our doctor.

Erbie had a good point, which I reiterated to the Head Teacher and she agreed - I should have been rung, even if it was to prepare me.

LiseG - it's more like one of Mater's rockets from Cars 2 in our house, Alex thinks Disneyland is a mere extension of CarsLand as an afterthought!

So there you go, two more sleeps or 48 hours in which to get ourselves in strife. I've managed to get a broken bottle of tea tree oil all over my clothes at the supermarket and Alex got hit by a rocket, so it's probably Rich's turn now as he's off on an overnight with work and will no doubt come a cropper.

Let me know how the crowds are! I think dd and I will head there next week.

We are heading there on Saturday (we have AP Early Entry). I don't remember if I posted it here or not but we spoke to a CM last time we were there and he said the whole flow of the parks has changed. Everyone now goes to DCA first thing and DL is empty until about 11:00 (when people finish with Carsland and head to DL). This was certainly true when we were there. But the whole resort seemed pretty quiet except Carsland. And that was on a Saturday.

Is AP early entry for all passholders? I'm guessing not, maybe just Premium??

I think any AP can sign up for early entry. The problem is everyone in your party has to have one. I can't remember as I read it awhile ago but I think you only get one shot at it.

Marian,
Your story had me rolling on the floor! Glad to hear Alex survived the rocket attack, Oli has completely suppressed his twin instincts, and you've dried off from your run-in with the tree oil! (and someday you must share how you ran yourself over yourself with your own car!)

Sounds like you might need to roll your entire family in bubble wrap for the next 48 hours so you all can get to the US safely!

Safe travels!
Shea

Marian, OMG I haven't been on in a couple days -- SO happy he's okay -- what a crazy thing to have happen, but now he's officially the Bravest Kid at School. Like, "Uh, really, Henry, you got stung by a bee? Try getting hit with a rocket then talk to me."

Marian, I can't believe the "rocket incident" to top off everything you have going on! I'm glad Alex is ok!

Safe travels to you and your family!

Marian, Oh my goodness ! Poor Alex! Here's hoping your vacation is a safe and tame one compared to that kindy class!

Just wondering if we have the final list with all room numbers etc ? Just wrapping up my FE gifts and the next two weeks are chaos with the start of another hockey season ...so would like to pack them all up labelled and ready to roll...

I just checked and no room assignment for us yet. I'm guessing everyone who booked the special GTY rate is still waiting to see what DCL is going to do with them. Hopefully we'll all know soon!

Nope, it was for all levels of passholders. Available dates for the some of the lower tier passes were pretty limited though. We were able to do our DCA day, but I waited too long to choose a DL day and they closed registration before I got signed up. Darn!

We took advantage of our crazy late school year start (the kids go back tomorrow) and spent several hours in the parks today. RSR was the only ride we even bothered to FP because lines were manageable to non existant on all the other FP rides. LOVED it!

I should never admit this on the Dis because I know most folks here are planners extraordinaire, and you'll probably be nervous for us... LOL :rotfl:
I just started working on FE gifts today, I haven't even thought about packing yet, and I honestly have no idea what we're doing on on any of our port stops. Of course I think cruising the CA Coast has something to do with that. I do a much better job of researching foreign ports in advance. I have a feeling the next couple of weeks will be an incredibly busy blur!

Edited to add:
Oops, I should have looked at the time before hitting submit. I posted in the wee hours of the morning, so it wasn't the today and tomorrow I meant anymore. We went to DLR on Wed and the kids start school on Thurs.

Well that's a bummer that it isn't still available to sign up for! We just got our Premier passes last month. Our other passes expired last March which explains why I never received anything about early morning entry.

Well I am glad to hear that I am not alone. I am not even thinking about packing. No plans set other that a flight to LAX. I think we will rent a car for a few hours in LA. Get a hotel near port and then play it all by ear. I agree with you that the challenge is off due to it being California. Plus not having our son with us I do not feel we need a plan.

But I am very excited about the cruise... See everyone in 17 days!

It was available to all passholders, one time for each park...and just for the summer. It was opposite of the regular EE (example I could sign up for DCA on a Sun, Tues, Thurs or SAT or for DL on Mon, Wed, Fri). Since we couldn't do week days, we never signed up for DL. But we did sign up for this Sat at DCA.

It runs until September 13th so you could still sign up for next week. I think you need to do it 3 days in advance though.

If that doesn't work, try www.disneyland.com/aphappier

Opps, sorry. After I posted that I check the site again and saw that registration is closed now :(

One more sleep and we are off.:banana: Well at this rate we may be going nowhere as we are having gale force winds (last 10 mins the gusts were over 65mph) and it's forecast to get worse. :scared1: We fly on a twin prop out of our local airport, so I'm unsure how that's going to work as the wind is gusting too strong to get a crate in the air. We've got a seven hour layover in Auckland, so hopefully Air NZ will sort something out. :confused3

I had three hours of sleep last night as the wind was hitting the side of the house so hard and at 6AM I was hauling the sides of the trampoline cage down incase the thing decides to uproot it's stakes and fly off. The old one escaped and flew out of our garden twice, now we have a heavier one. I hope my DH can get over the Rimutaka Ranges road today as they close it when it gets too windy, so DH may get stuck over the other side of the country unable to get home. Now that would just our luck this week, wouldn't it! :headache:
