Sept. 23, 2012 Pacific Coast - Wonder Cruise

Try looking at cruisedeckplans.com. It might be a little easier to read. The connecting rooms have the big arrow showing the direction they connect. I think you can tell on the deckplans by the little swinging door between the rooms.

Oh I see now! I was looking at the little bump out thinking that meant there was a door there. What does the little bump out mean? Placement of the bed or bathroom?

I'm not sure exactly but if you hold the cursor over the room, it brings up the room layout. It looks like that may be a little cabinet, or maybe that is where the steamer truck is in those rooms. I have only been in a 4 on the Wonder and it had the double steamer truck at the end of the murphy bed. But the stateroom reports show a single steamer truck in our room. Maybe that is where the put it :confused3

Just looked and I have a connecting room with daughter..........bed hopping with the grands might happen .... :rotfl2: Andrew and I hope that we have twin beds. It will all work out though.........just happy we have a room.

Julie hope my grands don't wake up your little guy............they are 7 and 11 and get pretty excited..........but that is their bedtimes also......wonder if that will happen on the "Wonder":duck: lol

Sandy pixiedust:

You can call (or your TA) and put a request on your reservation now to have your bed split or you can ask your cabin steward to do that after boarding - either way they will be happy to split your bed.

Got our room too, 7546, which I believe is a 6A. I'm happy with that. We are right at the mid ship elevators. I have been by the elevators before and I really didn't hear much noise. We also have a connecting room. I had one on the Hawaii cruise and didn't hear much noise except when the dad was spanking his child and she was screaming bloody murder! :( After the 2nd time this happened, a call was placed to GS. Security visited their room and we never heard anything from their room again. :thumbsup2

I don't think we will try for any upgrades and I'm not even sure what time we will get to the port. I was hoping my son would have an early baseball game so I could see him play before we go. Since the season started yesterday, it would be nice if the league actually sent out the schedule for the rest of the season. If his game is later in the day, then we will get their early just to see what is available!

Well, if you do decide to try for that 4 afterall, just let me know. I'll position myself right behind you in the supervisor's line and grab your 5A :) :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I thought that the bumpout was where the steamer trunk was. :confused3

Yeah, that is what I thought too from looking at the deck plans.

Has anyone noticed the counters - one week and SIX days?? I almost said we are going on a cruise next week but that would have been an exageration - but we are flying to CA next week :thumbsup2!! I am so looking forward to this trip I can barely contain myself.

I'm sure they'll be fine - we might even bring along the sound machine and put it right next to his head. :thumbsup2

We booked a VGT and an IGT and got a 5B and an 11B about 15 staterooms apart midship deck 7

It's a connecting room though. People really seem disappointed with those rooms when they don't need it to be connecting...why is that??

The noise factor. Honestly it depends on your neighbors though. The one time we had a connecting stateroom it was far quieter than the time we had a non connecting stateroom but the family next to us had a perpetually fussy baby. And I probably shouldn't even mention the time we happened to be sandwiched between a large family group in our non connecting stateroom in a supposedly quiet tucked away location. That was BAD, but it had nothing to do with the stateroom, just the neighbors.

We got our cabin also 7610. We are happy with the Cat 5, but not sure about location. We were forward on our last cruise and loved it. We are now by the aft elevators starboard. Not worried about the elevators (actually like being close to elevators), more worried about the movement (seasick) being in the back. Any comments regarding this location would be appreciated.

Looks like others aren't exactly thrilled with their locations...hopefully the rest get the pixie dust.pixiedust:

The only thing I don't like about being that far aft is the vibration when docking, which I don't think is a huge deal, but it can be a bit unsettling the first time it happens. Now that you've been warned, you should be good. :)

Honestly, when we don't go GTY status I always book aft staterooms. That's my favorite location on the ship.

:cool1: Woo Hooo ... we have rooms. Now I really feel like we are going. Robbie, Marie and Cassidy have 6534, Andrew and I have 6536. and Christy, Mike, Matthew and Meghan have 6538. I love that we are by the elevators...great for the grandma.....:rotfl2:

We have the count down going and everyone is getting very excited!! Packing anyone? Is it time yet??

Sandy pixiedust:

Wow, you scored 3 side by side cabins, congrats!

Ok, I just checked the stateroom reports and ours is actually one of the secret verandah rooms - 6634. So we will have a clear balcony and a partial obstruction on one side. I think I like that better than the navigators because I will be able to see the water from inside the room.

The room has excellent reviews and I just saw a picture of the verandah, but I think it was from the Magic. If the Wonder is similar, it won't be bad at all.

If we're going to Dis tag team, let's really do it right. :lmao:
Although I'm not exactly sure how they'd handle my request to upgrade from a cat 5B to a cat 7A

We've sailed in both 6134 & 6634 and absolutely LOVE those staterooms!

Patti,
Laura and I have the other secret verandah room on deck 6. However, we are on the port side.
We have had this room several times and love it.

Thanks, I'm so glad to hear that you like that room :cool1: The more I think about it, the more I think we will just keep it. I guess it can't hurt to ask about an upgrade, but everything I have read sounds good :thumbsup2

I take it the obstruction isn't that bad?
Also, does that back stairwell (the one that connects deck 7 and 8 by the secret verandahs) go all the way down to 6? That would be really cool.

We like the partailly obstructed verandah because you pay for a cat 7 but get a cat 6. We have also stayed in a cat. 4 and if you have the chance to grab a cat. 4 it is larger.

I think the stairs go to deck 6. If I remember correctly, our muster station goes down some back stairs to the back of Animators Pallet. There is also a set of stairs you can take that will take you all the way up to the back of Beach Blanket Buffet.

Anyone staying at the LAX MARRIOTT and doing the Disney Transport to the port??

Checking in on 9-22...just wondering if any of you will be there also??

I heard from a fellow Aussie that just returned from SF last week that Boudin's at Pier 39 make "the best clam chowder" she has ever tasted! I'll have to have some just to be sure though :thumbsup2

I finally bought the last few bits for our FE gifts yesterday, now I just have to package them up and add the tags, (I still need to print the tags also). I think I'll package them once onboard so I can pack things carefully and make sure nothing gets squashed!
Lots of little jobs to do over the next couple of weeks before we fly out, for the cruise and for home, including popping into the travel agent thursday to pick up our documents!!!

Boudin is also famous for their sour dough bread. I highly recommend giving it a try as that's a San Francisco specialty.

I laminated my magnets and finished printing up tags for the FE this weekend, and printed and wrapped up some other items...now I just have to focus on some personal stuff, like whether I want to try to decorate a T-shirt for the pirate night or just wear a halloween one I have :)

Yes, Not really happy we have to take the free shuttle from LAX to Marriott. A little too much hastle for a Disney price.

But at least our luggage will will be handled from Marriott to LAX and Port to LAX.

We were assigned cabin 2109.

Marian - We think it is fun to make the GPS recalculate all the time, DH will do things intentionally to cause her to do that. It is a small wonder that she doesn't just tell us to pull over and turn the car off!

We call the GPS 'Nikki' after an Irish friend of mine as we chose an Irish accent for the voice. Well Nikki must have felt like abandoning us yesterday as we changed route so many times the poor thing was having trouble keeping up with the sat feeds.

I said to Rich yesterday 'we should have gone to Gail's town, there'd be less people on the road than this freeway'. I'm paranoid we'll hit someone and we'll end up on the local traffic news.

Silly girl...you should have called us and we would have met you down there. The actual cruise terminal is really easy to find and you can't miss it when the ships are in (I'm guessing there were no cruise ships in port when you arrived). The cruise terminal is very close to the Vincent Thomas Bridge. When you get off the freeway for the port, you turn the corner and the Wonder will be right there in front of you. We generally come down side streets but the freeway route is the most direct to the port.

What bridge? We don't recall any bridge! There was no bridge. We got to the town centre area near the port and then went towards San Diego for ages until we got on another freeway.

We got room 7552. I think we'll stick were we are and put the money towards the Sky Couches on the way home.

We went to LegoLand today, got there for gate open and left 15 minutes before close. No wait time on any ride apart from the first and that wait was 3 minutes. I'm worried what one of my kids will be like at Disneyland as the three minutes wait was something he couldn't get his head around, he seemed to think he should go straight to the front of the line as he wanted to use the ride and everyone else was blocking his passage towards his destination. I think we'll be sticking to the small rides at Disneyland, we tried the big water splash thing and the kids couldn't get out fast enough as they were scared. They didn't much like the spinning ones either. Oh well, we enjoyed waving to Daddy on the coasters as he shot past.
