Sept. 23, 2012 Pacific Coast - Wonder Cruise

We got our cabin also 7610. We are happy with the Cat 5, but not sure about location. We were forward on our last cruise and loved it. We are now by the aft elevators starboard. Not worried about the elevators (actually like being close to elevators), more worried about the movement (seasick) being in the back. Any comments regarding this location would be appreciated.

Looks like others aren't exactly thrilled with their locations...hopefully the rest get the pixie dust.pixiedust:

 I'm sorry that you didn't get a better assignment. I've been looking at what categories are still available. There were a ton of 5As before and now it is guarantee status so I'm guessing they assigned a lot of those. But it is still showing 4As available :confused3

I need to talk to DH tonight to see if we wants to try for an upgrade. I guess it can't hurt to check and see what they have. That just means we arrive earlier than planned and hopefully get to hang out with some of our dis-group members while we wait to board :thumbsup2

Thanks Jetskigrl!

I just read a few stateroom reviews on my rooms and maybe my assignment isn't that bad. Being on deck 1, I think I'm having a hard time with feeling like we're in the basement and so far away from the action. But we were on deck 2 on our last cruise and it wasn't that bad. I was just hoping for more, I guess and I'll have to suck it up and get over my disappointment. Either that, or try for an upgrade! :)

We got a 7A as well...there are three of us. Oh well. This is my first DC so I am happy with whatever. It's a connecting room though. People really seem disappointed with those rooms when they don't need it to be connecting...why is that?? I also checked our cruise and all of the categories are still available. What are the chances that our rooms will change in the next two weeks???

I haven't heard too many stories of them changing once we get this close to the cruise so I think they are probably set.

For the connecting one, I think some people are afraid they will hear noise from the other cabin. Many people have reported no problem at all. :thumbsup2

Thank you!! I'm not overly worried about it. We are aft by the stairs/elevator. Looks like easy access to food/pool/kids club.

Well, I would be an oddball when it comes to movement. Since the ship is one solid piece - no hinges, my brain tells me me if the bow goes up, the stern must go down. But, on our last cruise we were aft (about as far aft as one can get, with the metal verandahs) and I thought the movement was different than when we are forward. We were a deck lower than our usual deck 6 and we were further back than what we usually are but honest, it was different. That being said - I will take my Bonine daily (except in SF) and go with the flow.

Ok, I just checked the stateroom reports and ours is actually one of the secret verandah rooms - 6634. So we will have a clear balcony and a partial obstruction on one side. I think I like that better than the navigators because I will be able to see the water from inside the room.

The room has excellent reviews and I just saw a picture of the verandah, but I think it was from the Magic. If the Wonder is similar, it won't be bad at all.

Great - glad you are happy! It's great to read those stateroom reports because you can get a better feel from someone else who actually stayed there!

I think we are all coming around on our rooms. Maybe we had high hopes, the review on our room is excellent as well.

I doubt too that they will change our rooms before the cruise, I have only seen one instance of that on the dis boards.

I like your way of thinking.....I will hit the Bonine and go with it:thumbsup2

You are further forward than we were so my guess is you will be good to go. I have no idea why it was an issue on our October cruise last year - totally no idea. I had heard someone say once before that it was different being forward as opposed to aft and I am sure they eyebrows shot right up past my hairline but, good golly, it was true. Or maybe it was just because that was cruise #13.

So happy that you are all reading positive room reports. I have stayed in our cabin before so I know exactly what to expect.

We were all the way forward on CCL going to Canada and boy did we feel it! The water was very rough going north. I'm hoping it won't be that bad on this cruise. We are all the way aft on this boat. Moving to the middle helps. I think if there are big swells, you will feel it no matter what. My dad has done the Hawaiian cruise itinerary (CCL) a few times and they always stay aft...and that's a rough ride to the islands. They are always fine. :)

Wow, that is awesome that you got all three rooms together!!!! Great room assignments!!!

Got our room too, 7546, which I believe is a 6A. I'm happy with that. We are right at the mid ship elevators. I have been by the elevators before and I really didn't hear much noise. We also have a connecting room. I had one on the Hawaii cruise and didn't hear much noise except when the dad was spanking his child and she was screaming bloody murder! :( After the 2nd time this happened, a call was placed to GS. Security visited their room and we never heard anything from their room again. :thumbsup2

I don't think we will try for any upgrades and I'm not even sure what time we will get to the port. I was hoping my son would have an early baseball game so I could see him play before we go. Since the season started yesterday, it would be nice if the league actually sent out the schedule for the rest of the season. If his game is later in the day, then we will get their early just to see what is available!

OMG we are next door neighbors!!!! We're 6540! Also glad our area will look "FE Festive!" You can tell Christy et al not to worry - that we're pretty quiet and only have the one 3-year-old and he's going to bed at 9 :)

Well, I just talked to DH on the phone and he said whatever I decide to do about the room is fine (lol - typical DH, he just wants to know where to be and what time and the rest of the details are up to me :rotfl2:)

Hum, the more I research this room, the more I think it might be cool to have. It would be good for the cabin crawl since there are only 4 rooms like this one on the ship (so others could come see it too).

I also like the idea of deck 6, since I like to try to use the stairs as much as possible and this is right in the middle of things. I have only stayed on Deck 8, so this will be new.

If it is 7546, I'm pretty sure you are in a Cat 5A, non-connecting room. You lucky dog ;) :lmao:

That was one of the rooms I had on my list that I was going to try to upgrade to!!

You are right! :rotfl2: Apparently the different shades of orange on the key were messing me up! It looks connecting though?

Try looking at cruisedeckplans.com. It might be a little easier to read. The connecting rooms have the big arrow showing the direction they connect. I think you can tell on the deckplans by the little swinging door between the rooms.
