Sept 2012 car rental......

Okay. Thanks. I didn't realize this was the code people were referring to.

I kind of figured that. Some how the Emerald Club got dropped from the original post mentioning the code.

Still I encourage you to join the Emerald Club. It has many nice benefits. They are covered on the National web site.

Also, you can find a lot of money saving codes and coupons codes on www.mousesavers.com

I must have been having a weak moment.
We have lost keys because the drivers often forget to leave them in the cars for one reason and one of the other's because of what you just mentioned. I am not encourging this in the least, just retelling what a lot of people do. Lot's of people select their vehicle and then lock it up and go back and wait for their party, sometimes for hours. That really annoys a bunch of people and there is nothing I can do about it. It is first come first serve. It is highly unlikely that anyone will see a minivan on the full size row in Sept. or Oct.

I figure if the car got to the aisle... then the odds are you had a key recently.... Those are the ones I assume the 'Savers' have gone from A to B to see what they could find (or vice versa) and then decided "its too far to walk back to the first car we 'held', they must have extra keys"

:confused3

Not sure why they would not realize that if they are holding TWO keys in their hands that might be ALL the keys???/

However, folks remember "reserve what you need" I fly into the two airports used by Disney fans a lot (Orlando in Florida and Orange County in California) Every so often I see a very upset family because there are only 'cars' on the various aisles. (And this is a bigger issue at Orange County because thier space is TINY!!!!!! they don't load lots of stuff on that aisle at any one time.)

All this talk about what's on the aisles has me wondering. As I've said before I am a complete newbie at this; my prior experience with car rental extends no farther than a loaner from my insurance agent when someone hit our car. So this is mostly just curiosity, but...is there a particular time of day when the selection in the garage is at its best? First thing in the morning, maybe? Since our flight lands at 5:30 in the afternoon, should we expect a more limited selection? With cars being returned all day, I'm assuming they get washed/vaccuumed out/inspected for damage in between renters...how long does it take to turn them around and get them back out to the garage?

Again, this is just curiosity -- it doesn't impact our rental options, and I don't mean to tie up the thread with idle chitchat when people are looking for deals! But I do wonder if there's a "peak" time of day, day of the week, etc for getting a wider selection, or if it's completely the luck of the draw. Do the experienced renters have any observations?

Good Question!

Anyone else having trouble with the Alamo insiders "double upgrade" coupon? I have a full sized for 10 days at $178 right now but seeing that there is no standard aisle, I wanted to try the double upgrade and see if that was cheaper to book a compact, get a standard which actually means get a full size. Everytime I go from my AI coupon email, it keeps telling me the coupon is going to expire before I get there. I thought it said you must book before Sept. 10 but nothing about picking up before then. :confused3

Let me make sure I have this right. I just went back and used the original coupon codes here (Costco/$35 off) and booked a standard instead of a full sized with Alamo. The standard for 10 days is $150 vs the full size at $178. With my standard reservation, I am still going to get a full sized car correct? My poor DH will be so mad at me if I try to cram him into a little Ford Fusion all week (he's 6'4).

It says the "offer" expires Sept. 10.

Funny enough if you go to the Avis website and enter AWD A108386 and Coupon MUGA044 for $45 off they also offer a prepaid rate of $185 when you deduct the coupon and return vehicle.

Sadly for a minivan they are coming up at 656 or something :(

Now can anyone email me the National code because I'm not sure what everyone is using to get good deals with them. And I am a member :D
