Sept 2012 car rental......

yes please let me know.
Mine with tax is 228
but sounds like you might have slightly better then what I did, especially since you have 8 days...

I booked it thru Costco on July 26th using the AD2359FDF $35 off coupon

I still think they might come down again this week but it will be hit or miss, late night and early morning .. check the websites then

Re-checked my rates today with Alamo. My resi for a standard (full size) dropped by $5.00. Not a big move, but ever little bit helps. However, the midsize resi stayed the same??? :scratchin I am still holding out for a price drop over the next 3 weeks.

I used the Costco code along with the $35 off coupon - AD2359FDF.

The reviews that I'm referring to are talking specifically about Dollar at MCO.

Those are all the bad reviews that I'm hearing about. It is location specific.

I have dollar locally here as well and no problems.

With 155 reviews on Dollar from viewpoints and 81 reviews from review center for 1.5 stars, there must be a reason for it.

Sorry, that's just not been our experience. We go to Orlando 2-3 times a year and most of the time we rent Dollar , we have also rented Alamo and Enterprise.

We have never had an issue with Dollar. However, with Alamo we had double charges twice and one time the counter person tried to charge me more my reservation stated..even showing it to him, he tried to argue with me. Enterprise was really bad on trying to upsell everything, insurance, etc.

Maybe it makes a difference that we are signed up with the Dollar Program, but I doubt it, as I sign up for any program available when I do business with any company.

Just my experience, but it's true. We have never had a problem with Dollar, not once in 20+ years.

Prices, as of this evening, at Dollar:

1 week beginning Sept. 21

intermediate......$77 a week
Full Size............$84 a week
Mini Van...........$169.65 a week

These prices are all before taxes and fees, which are quite high out of MCO. In fact depending on the length you rent it can almost double your cost. But, check it out, it might save you money.

Enterprise seems to be going down....I get $378 tax in for 7 days for a Minivan using Costco code CSTMAYC Sept 1-8.

I'm holding onto a Budget rental for $360 as my primary.

You can save over $100 with Budget using BCD x474200 (travelocity public code) and E-Coupon MUGZ029 for $30 off. Total is $272 inc taxes after coupon is applied when return minvan. Dollar is $235 inc taxes (click on special rate - no code required) but they charge $10/day for additional driver if that is important to you.

Thanks for the code! I think I originally applied those and the total was $270, but not including taxes.

Including taxes and fees, $359.27 for Sept 1-8th. I have an additional 3hrs since it's not exactly 7 days, which is maybe $30 extra.

Ya I see it would be $329 including coupon which is deducted when you return minivan versus $272. Looks like you are paying $57 for the additional 3hrs.

In the last 5 years we have used dollar 6 times at mco and have always had a good experience...thats just our experience however but i just booked them again this year unfortunately without a code

I'm going to see if I can get Budget or Enterprise to price match Dollar.....

Dollar is $193 vs Budget $359.

I'd really prefer not going with Dollar.....I don't want any surprise charges on my card or them saying there are damages on the car when I return it.

I don't think Dollar is the only car rental company that adds damages after a rental. From what I read in the travel section of the sunday paper it seems there are stories from all companies having done this. I guess our only protection is to check the car thoroughly before you leave the lot, and have them mark any damage, even the smallest spot you see. Of course, I say this now, but will probably forget to do so next week in my excitement to get to the hotel!! Ten more days...can't wait!

We have rented from Dollar for many years, multiple times a year, and have never had that happen.

Just got an Insider's email from Alamo for a free double upgrade. Went from a compact (Nissan Versa) to a standard (Ford Fusion), 9 days for $150.04 total.

:cool1:

Some of you guys with the Costco/American Airlines codes....

Try this one, instead:

Your Insider ID #

ID/Corp ID = (blank! It should fill it out with 7015135)

Coupon Code = AD2359FDF (Which turns out to be this internet coupon, for those worried about a physical coupon https://www.alamo.com/index.do?action=/hotDealsTemplate&msg=Alamo_American2008specials-35-off )

I dropped mine $6 more dollars, and don't have to worry about the Costco Card.

Oh.... I'm renting from a Weds Morning to the FOLLOWING Tuesday evening....14 days: $182/out the door.

I tried this and it gave me the warning that a physical coupon might be required. Makes me a little nervous to book it. But it's $20+ cheaper than Costco.
