Sept 2012 car rental......

For Alamo, in the box where you put in your reservation info on the front page, click "More options." OR click "New" in the Reservations line at the top of the page.

Then on the screen that opens, there's a box to enter your Insiders number and a box for Coupon Code.

THANK YOU! I completely missed that. :thumbsup2

You put the coupon code in the box for coupon code. No penalties at all for changing or cancelling. Check as often as you wish. Check daily as your trip gets to be one or two weeks out. You are NOT an idiot, you are aksing legit questions. Pretty soon you will be a veteran and it will be really easy. Let me know if you need more help.

Seems obvious, once you find the box! Thanks for your kindness and understanding. I'm satisfied with the Dollar rate that jnkrim and keliblue pulled up for me -- I'll watch here for more info and keep checking various sites in hopes of finding an even better deal as it gets closer. I really appreciate all of your help, everyone!

Sept. 28 - Oct. 12

Thanks!

Any way you could take a cab or some other transportation to MCO (or take Magical Express to hotel and rent onsite)? Tons of deals out there for under $200 at MCO. Sorry if that's not an option, just wanted to check for you.

Didn't realize they were 40 mins apart, scratch the cab idea. Are you staying onsite at a Disney resort?

Rates can change from morning to afternoon on any given day, so it doesn't hurt to check for new rates as often you want to make the effort. If you see a better rate, just make the new reservation and cancel the old one. (Be careful though to make sure you're cancelling the right one.) There's no penalty for cancelling.

I just 'modify' it's a lot easier, you just need to make sure the "rate code" field is empty

We did wonder about trying to rent at MCO instead, but couldn't figure out how to get there. We are staying at a Disney hotel, but not that first night. I'm still hoping for a deal somehow. Thanks for your help!

Using carrentalsavers.com the cheapest I see is Advantage Car Rental. I personally haven't used them, but, Alamo and Dollar are $$$. What type of car do you want?

Do you need a car for your entire stay? Maybe doing 2 oneway reservations is the way to go...

Thanks! I actually originally booked with Advantage Car Rental, but then I saw multiple warnings against using them, so I cancelled. Maybe someone on this thread could tell us their experiences with them? We're a small group, so we could even rent an Economy car if necessary. We're currently booked with Dollar (city special rate) for a compact car (just over $400 total). I'm also checking with hotwire and priceline, but haven't had success yet.

I have to admit, I'm getting a little nervous:bitelip: we have rented a car every year in Sept at MCO since 2006 and this is the highest I have ever seen it :worried: Usually by now you start seeing Compacts for under $100 a week and standards for about $130 out the door.. I just don't get it. Just keep trying i guess. I'm on the computer all day :surfweb: so I will keep searching and posting.. and posting and searching...good luck all

It has gotten more difficult to find a good price this year :confused3 We are at $205 for a standard with Alamo and $300 for Executive with National (hoping for a loaded suv). This is the most we have paid for a rental in years at MCO. It has made us consider ME. We still have a couple of weeks, so, hopefully it will go down a bit more...

My best rate for this trip (standard at Alamo) so far is about 173, for 11 days starting after labor day. I may have gotten 20+ less in past years, but it could still go down. I'm hoping it will go down a little because I noticed May was ridiculously low, and that is a comparable travel time.

I'm feeling the same. The best I've been able to find is advantage at $236 for a full-size for the first week of September. That's twice what I'm used to paying... and considering that it will sit in the hotel parking lot most of the trip, I'm not sure it's worth it. Keeping my fingers crossed that rates start to drop.

using alamo insider #7015135 is now lower than the continental airlines for me ($141, 8 days, standard with the $35 coupon beginning 9/29). :)

About 2 weeks ago I was able to get $121 out the door for a full size at Alamo, dates 9/1-9/8 - pick up/drop off at MCO. I just checked the rates today, for a midsize the rate is $122 with all taxes...$147 for a full size. I used Costco code 7014627 and AA code AD2359FDF...HTH

I see everyone posting different codes that belong to different organizations. Do they actually check to see if you belong to say Costco or the American Airlines thing. I know some are free to join but Costco or BJ's or ones like that I don't think it would be beneficial to me to join seeing as I don't have one of those stores near me.

Don't push the panic button.... Your best rates can be found 7-10 days before you leave for your trip. TRUST ME.. The last 3 trips I have taken I have gotten my Alamo rate just under a $100 for a weekly rental of a mid-size. And I booked my car a week before we left.
The rental companies will release the last minutes special rates and that is where you will find your best deals. I always use Alamo because I am an Insiders member and if you couple the last minute rate with the Insider Member coupons you can get a great deal.
So be patient.. And sign up for the FREE Alamo Insiders membership..

with Alamo, I've always used the kiosk so I have never had to show any membership card .. don't know it that's the same at the counter

Doesn't the person at the gate ,that lets you out of the rental garage, check your drivers license, credit card and in this case Costco or BJ's cards, to see that the info on the rental is correct?

Yes for costco and AA'a discounts you supposed to be a member. But you can join American's AAdvantage program for free, just print the AA member card (in case its not mailed to you in time)and you can use the AA discounts. From whats been posted they are not asking for proof to use the AA disount coupon. For costco the memberships start at $55 for the year.

So join the American's AAdvantage program, print your membership card and use AA ID# 7014136 and AA coupon ID AD2359FDF at Alamo's website for booking. If they ask your covered!
These rates aren't the lowest compared to other discounts but they are better than full price! Later you can "opt-out" to quit receiving email offers from AA.

Also there's another option, If your using a VISA credit card to pay click on the link below you get the VISA card discount at Alamo it requires a 5-day minimum rental with a Saturday overnight keep(Valid 06/01/2012 to 10/31/2012). Click the "redeem" button and it takes you to Alamo's website. Make sure to click the "$30 off" in the box, The discounts are about the same as AA's offer.

Credit card and I.d yes. I was never asked for my Costco card. that was my experience and may not be others

Sorry but this is for costco members only....

Costco's travel site is offering Budget weekly rentals at discount now...

compact for $101, mid-size for $107, standard for $119 and full size for $118.79

You must book through costco travel to get these prices.

Sorry everyone else, I tried using the codes BCD#W852863 & coupon #MUGZ023 at Budget's website but rate show higher because budget dose not reflect the discounts in the quote.

From budget's website:

If you used a coupon for your reservation:
— savings are not reflected in your quoted rate. If your rental meets all coupon terms, a rate adjustment will be made when you pick up your car;

Costco travel's quote will show the discount
