Sept. 2009 @ WDW! Be a Pop Tart 2009~come share your(Bounce Back or NOT)Dates !!!

Turns out Jonas was planning a getaway for our annivesary, but with Kara here and the extra expense of staying longer at Disney that got put on hold. He had even been working with his Mother to come stay with Jacob. Very proud of him (we had a conversation a few months ago when he complained we never get alone time and I had to explain, after 11 years, it was time for him to make the effort.) But I am having a hard time not planning something now. Think I will make him a list of restaurants and phone numbers to call to get it set up. Along with instructions on what discounts to make. Any restaurant ideas? I thought about California Grill so we could watch the fireworks (he doesn't have a clue about that one). I want to give him a list and let him plan it from there. We are now looking at going in January, so he needs to at least get the ADR's booked, we can always cancel.

Thats GREAT! Good for Jonas for taking the initiative! :thumbsup2
DH & I had a nice dinner @Artist's Point w/o DS (he was 4yo and we left him the Cub's Den!)
DH keeps teasing me that we'll go to F&W next year for our 15th anniversary...we'll see popcorn::

Hope you all have a wonderful day!:goodvibes

We ate at California Grill last year, the food was great and it's beautiful from up there. My DH and I also like the Yachtsman. He's a steak lover, the food and service there has always been fantastic.

Looks like I'm the only one going in September. :sad1:

I'll add Artist Point to the list. Thought about F&W time, but Jonas will be overseas most of that time.:sad2:

I'll add Yachtsman to the list also. We both love steak.

You won't be the only one going in Sept. I know I will at some point and they are offering military discounts on the MNSSHP dates in September, so going to take them up on that offer. Probably just a one night trip, but it's still a trip.;)

How nice to see a POP Tarts thread in my email this morning! So nice to see some chatting again. :)

Linda, how nice we added a little pleasure to your BD! :goodvibes

Melissa, what a nice surprise that would have been - good for Jonas! :yay:

I'd love to see my sil do something for DD for their 5th coming up this October. Unfortunately, he is a family of one and does not think outside self ever. :confused3 I'd better stop on that topic.:sad2:

Kris, noticed you have a cruise countdown - what fun! Where to?

Kris should we tell them what we may be doing or wait until we're sure?;)

We're off to St. Augustine the end of August to check it out for the move - we will look at Jacksonville too. it would be pretty neat to go back to one of the stops of my childhood as a military kid. My dad was 27 yrs in the Navy, which meant 11 schools in 12 yrs for moi. Jacksonville was a 2 1/2 yr stop - now if only I could rememebr the names of my best friend when I lived the re - or any of our group. strange, I remember her address, but when I looked it up it's all gas stations etc now, so she surely moved. Doubt she left JAX though. I'm excited about the move.:)

It is so good to see everyone!! We need our leader to come on over too! We'll need a new thread soon. :thumbsup2:grouphug:

Somehow in working on my computer to make it run faster and such I managed to lose all my messages in my DIS file. sigh If any of you are on any threads that I am usually on and do not see me it will take me a bit to hunt you all down, but hunt you down I shall. :lmao:

Jonas is a keeper Melissa. Just for the fact that he is wise enough to want more alone time with you alone but for wanting to take you to your favorite place he is a prince among men. You deserve nothing less. I have a dear DIS friend who is an expert at all the out of the way, romantic and wonderful places at Disney and I would be glad to introduce the two of you if you would like any more ideas. I am not a fancy nor romantic person so I am not help at all. If you need info on how to save money to go I am your gal though. :thumbsup2

M&N, I understand men like your sil. Too well. Now what are you and Kris getting up to now? I am jealous and I do not even know what it is.

Figment, if I could stand the heat and had someone to mow my lawn I would be there as well. I get more and more limited as to when I can go. Glad you can though.

Jan, no need to wave three times. You stand out above the crowd. Warning, my dd and family are headed up your way this weekend. Just going to look across the border as they do not have papers though.

Have to organize the garage after sale into piles of what to hold on to and what to give away now. Found that one set of dishes I want to get rid of are worth hundreds of dollars more than I had thought. I usually sell for half the price listed so if I can find anyone who has the cash I am good to go. Shhhh, don't tell anyone but i only paid under $40 for the set way back when. I have good taste. grin

We are scheduled to leave Galveston the day after Christmas on Royal Caribbeans Voyager of the Seas...Mexico, Belize, Honduras...however this is subject to change (see below....)

So glad your happy/excited about your move...that really makes it easier! :lovestruc
Speaking of moving, it looks like my parents may be moving to Texas next summer (Dad can retire in June.) We've spent the last couple of weekends looking at lots to build on! DS only request is that its close enough for him to walk or ride his bike to their house! :cloud9:
(So the move may cause us to reschedule our cruise to a later date....Mom & Dad were going to go with us....) :sail:

Kris, wow, what great news about your parents move to Texas!! You must be so excited - we already know Matthew is thrilled! :yay: Are there lots nearby or would they have to buy a house in your neighborhood to be close enough for Matt to visit them easily?

Your cruise sounds great! Rescheduling becasue your folks will be moving closer is the best possible reason! :thumbsup2 Have never been on one and never will - between a severe fear of heights and deep water that pretty much excludes any Cruise. :rotfl2:

I am sooooo happy for you, Kris! :grouphug:

Diva K, I am betting that your parents have the same requirement as Matthew. Nothing better than having grandparents nearby for both child and parents. :)

BTW, you and M&N had better give us some information on that big secret before we come and beat it out of you with our wands. :lmao:

Just read that the Electric Parade has been extended. Dare I hope it is extended until we are there to see it??

Slightly Goofy

EP extended? :woohoo: Of course, the question is, for how long?? How I'd love to see it again.

Kris may shoot me for even slightly mentioning it - let's just say for now we are both incredibly overwhelmed!! Once I hear back from Kris via email, will spill the beans either way.:thumbsup2

Here I stand, can opener in hand. Waiting for beans to spill is not my style.

M&N, yep, you and me at the Electric Light Parade. Sounds like a plan to me. Now if Disney will just cooperate.

BTW, anyone know anything about the Detroit area? My dd and family are headed to Dearborn for the weekend to see the Henry Ford Museum. We used to go there when she was young. When I Mapquested Warren, Michigan which is where they are staying I found a whole listing of gangs and their territory. Must be pretty bad if I recognize the names of the gangs. Warren is way past Detroit in the opposite direction from where we live. DD thinks I am crazy and stupid so she is not likely to heed my fears. Please tell me that I am crazy and stupid and not about to have a large part of family in harms way????

M&N, my daughter is very computer savvy and this is the site she checked to find a room but it is the area that bothers me. They tend to be far too trusting. Why they would book a hotel 25 miles PAST where they want to go I have no idea. She is so very busy and might not have had enough time to think this through. If I tell them how scary it is they will go twice. I am going to brush up on my prayers.

Thank you, SG/Linda

...but I am having a good chuckle over that comment. :rotfl:

I'm sorry this is causing you such worry - I would feel the same. Count on me to brush up on my prayer too. :goodvibes

(sorry....still laughing....)

M&N, the trouble is that they have never, thankfully, had anything really bad happen to them so they do not lock houses, cars etc.

I hope they stay as innocent as that means nothing bad will ever happen to them.

I have had their share.

I will laugh at this when they return home, safe and sound.

Thank you for any and all prayers, SG

SNOW WHITE & THE SEVEN AMIGOS
Fairy tale; Written by Richard Rosen

Based on the classic Grimm Brothers fairy tale, this hilarious musical spoof takes place long ago in the mountains of Central Mexico. The Duke of Valeciana lives in his palace high on the hill overlooking Guanajuato, a city whose mines produce most of the world's silver. Snow White, his young daughter, is the happiest child in the world. One day the Duke brings home a beautiful but vain bride who carries with her an enchanted mirror. The years pass and Snow White grows up to be a beautiful young girl. Her stepmother, the Duchess, who has been asking the same question every day since she arrived in Guanajuato, asks again, "Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who in the land is the fairest of all?" When the mirror tells the Duchess the truth, she becomes obsessed with getting rid of her stepdaughter. Snow White must flee the city for the high mountains, where she befriends seven amigos who work the mines. They take her in and try to protect her, and the rest is a story that can only come to life onstage at The Magik Theatre*.

*The Magik Theatre is a children's theatre here in San Antonio

Diva K, that is too funny. 7 Amigos!!!!:rotfl2: Sounds like a cute production.
And that is great news about your parents and DS wanting them to live so close. The cruise sounds nice.

Saw all the conversation about the ELP, I don't know if you can go by it, but was checking out the fireworks show time for January (working on that list to give Jonas) and saw the ELP was scheduled for January. But they probably just have it listed since they haven't announced an end date yet. Saw someone commented on a FB page that it is rumored to stay and Spectromagic is to go overseas.

Linda, too cool about those dishes. My Mom picked up a complete set of Mikaska (sp?) at a Salvation Army store in DC. Every single serving piece, I think she paid what you did.

And I actually have family in Detroit right now. My brother is at an Assembly of God Fine Arts competition right now. Guess Detroit booked it to try to help their tourism industry.

M&N, hope the trip is wonderful and a home is found with sidewalks, shopping, and people (just not too many people, if you know what I mean.:))

Thought I would let all of you know, I made the appointment at the vet I haven't wanted to do. My little Constanze is going to meet with Mozart tomorrow. Her little body is just giving up. Sorry to end on a sad note. Would it be wrong to start drinking now?

:grouphug: Melissa, I am so sorry. Words cannot really express how sad I am for you. definitely not too early to start drinking....whatever it takes to be with her, hold her, to let her go and be whole and happy again. :grouphug:

So sorry to hear :(

Melissa, it is a sad fact of life that when we choose to love we have to take the pain that comes with that. I know that you accepted that fact when you took your special Constanze as well as Mozart and other fur babies that you have taken to your heart.

However it does not make it one bit easier. You know that you are doing the loving thing and one day you will find more joy in the memories than sadness.

I am sorry for your loss and will be thinking of you.

Hugs, SG/Linda
