Sept. 2009 @ WDW! Be a Pop Tart 2009~come share your(Bounce Back or NOT)Dates !!!

I can promise, absolutely, that we will have warm weather here. It was a bit iffy until last night when our small town lost its bid for the basketball sectionals in a nail biting overtime. It is an Indiana tradition that we have bad weather during the sectionals you see. ;)

I am thinking it is a dearth of Disney planning that is keeping folks away from here. I know it is me. There are a scant amount of weeks that the price is low enough for me to even dream about going this year and that is not until this Fall. Even then prices will be up because of the upcharge on the weekend which is not a big killer as it is only for two days and with a good code probably only about $6 a night but nowadays every little bit hurts.

Just read in the paper about a lady who worked for our local bank, which was closed down by the Feds a few months ago, has had to file bankruptcy. She is elderly and not in good health and I know that this has to be very embarrassing for her. My heart aches as I figure she had a lot of her money invested in the bank that she gave so many years of her life to. I checked my lottery ticket and had hoped I might luck out and save her from this but to no avail. Money might not be everything but it is amazing just how much good it can bring if you know how to use it wisely.

Is everyone shoveled out and enjoying some much needed sunshine? I am contemplating starting to clean out the flowerbeds so that the bulbs have a place to rise and shine.

Hugs and grins to you all, SG/Linda

I think I'm only one from this thread who's currently planning a September vacation. I've had a rough couple of months, I need a vacation. It was nice to do a little bit of planning last week during the blizzard.

My 180 day window is next week. :goodvibes

SG, I think the economy is affecting many people's vacations. If you can just barely afford food and the roof over your head, something has to go. If it weren't for a good tax return, I'm not sure how I would afford vacation this year. DH and I are still working the same jobs and we are grateful for that. But it's at the same pay as a couple of years ago and prices have gone up since.

I feel blessed even so. Too many of our friends have endured periods of unemployment during the past couple of years.

Hmm....just as I was about to type a nice little hello, noticed an odd shape on the screen...thought, oh, a little black mark, but where would that come from. NOT!! It is a small curve, but not a mark, a scratch. :sad2: I am the ultimate clean freak, so how would such a thing happen. It would happen while trying to balance while heading up the stairs: an open laptop, glass of water, dog bowls filled with food(chopped chicken & veggies = messy if spills), a bottle for a toddlers nap and various other sundries...igh...life is never dull, thank goodness.

While it is lovely to keep up with everyone on FB - broken record that I tend to be..miss checking in here.

Glad to see our friends are doing well, for the most part. Me thinks Spring is in the air, or at least in our hearts. The buds on the trees are anxious to bloom here and will be in full bloom in bout 2 weeks - only thing I love about this place. Flowers and blooming trees most of the years - beautiful.

SG ~ I do hope a general code comes out for you for Nov/Dec. I feel sure something will be released, but the waiting is not fun.

My dates have changed again...:scared1: It's all good though b/c it's pretty much a sure thing - baring an unexpected turn of events in our lives.

Will be in WDW December 2 Thur 7, 5 ngts. We are booked, deposits paid - a good sign that the trip is going to happen. ::yes::

7th of March...where has the time gone? Last night posted a few pics of the pups and Sophia on FB, mostly from Christmas...already nearly 3 mos ago - none very good. She is usually pretty photogenic, butt his batch just was not so great. She looks so big in the pics! I swear she's not that big in person.

Looking forward to hearing how everyone is doing. :grouphug:

Hi everyone.

Hope you can make your plans soon SG. Do you think you will get anymore snow, or do you think you are done? A couple of years ago we had snow in TX Easter weekend. You just never know what mothernature will do.

M&N sorry to hear about the laptop. I messed Jonas' up one time. Was walking with it and forgot it was plugged in. Then you couldn't close it. Took it to Best Buy to be repaired and they didn't get it back in time before he left for Iraq. Cost me $100 to ship that thing to him.:sad2: Hopefully your dates are now set.

Figment Finder, glad you are getting to go on a trip. I might be seeing you in September, try to go at least once a month and we will be going to the MNSSHP. Probably be the last time we get to for awhile.

Things here are going well. Got the MIL here. We both were feeling bad. She finally went to the walk-in clinic and has an ear infection. Went to Kohl's yesterday and spend way to much money, but bought 14 shirts for $110. But everything was at least 50% off and then I had a 15% off coupon.

DMIL watched the kiddo last night and let us go to dinner. Went to a Kobe Steakhouse, great food and we both ate way to much. Jonas about choked when he saw the bill, guess he forgot how expensive those places are. The lady I was sitting next to said she enjoyed sitting next to me because I laughed a lot. Said a lot of people don't laugh much anymore. :sad1: Her and her husband thought we were dating, they were shocked to hear we have been married for almost 15 years.

Taking DMIL to Epcot today to see the Flower and Garden Festival. She loves gardening so I know she will enjoy it. I'll take lots of pictures of course.

Hope everyone has a magical day!

Melissa, I am with your dining neighbor, it is wonderful hear someone laughing. Have to admit that a child laughing is my most favorite though. It is so wonderful that you and your hubby still laugh. It is far better than marrying for money IMO. Money can go away, laughter seldom does. I hope you and your mil are all healed up now.

Christine, the events you described are the reason why I am buying a desktop instead of another laptop. I hope it is not too bad a problem. Having a broken computer is a serious matter. ;) You may well be at DW when we are. It is all according to how I am feeling but that is our favorite time to go.

FF, I often find it is the folks who can least afford to go who often do. You would not believe some of the stories I have heard through the years. I just want to set them down and explain that missing one year at DW so that the following years are not on credit is a very good decision but I do not. I am just not feeling well at the moment so nothing seems like a good idea right now. Better today but not a whole bunch. Might be Spring Fever?:goodvibes

I got a postcard code yesterday offering Free Dining for pretty much the whole year, until August or so I believe. I accidentally threw it away. Yesterday was not a good day. :scared1:

SG, so sorry about the post card. Sounds like someone I would do, actually I know I have done it.

You are so right about the overspending. I still have a guilty feeling about going to Kohls, but I will not set foot in that store for some time. I need a shock collar to keep me away from here.

Me and the MIL both feel much better. I know it was just allergies. Epcot on Saturday was just beautiful. Really windy though.

I will always have a desktop. Too many things happen to laptops too easily.

SG, hope you get to feeling better soon. Take care of yourself.

Hope everyone has a great Monday.:goodvibes

My daffodils are blooming as are the crocus. It is a lovely sight and gives me hope that Spring is here, or nearly so.

JM, we all have our weaknesses. I know many who are addicted to Kohl's. Mine tends toward hardware and electronics stores. I am glad that you guys did not suffer long and were able to get out and about to enjoy some sights.

Bonz, where you driving to? If it is DW do I have time to get to 65?

SG

Happy Easter, peeps! Anyone in a diabetic coma yet? It's early out here on the left coast, so I'm the only one up. Do you think the kids would notice if I emptied some of the eggs?

My dd filled them yesterday for her brother, and when I asked her where the leftovers were she said there weren't any. When I questioned, she said, "well some of the eggs are pretty full." Foolish child used all the candy to fill the eggs instead of only putting one or two pieces in each one and saving the leftovers for us!

Anyway, hope you all have a great day!

TB, I will have you to know that nary a sugar gram is to be found anywhere near me. I made my famous diet crustless Strawberry Pie and we had some last night and will have some with our lunch today, ham, asparagus and Tom gets a baked potato. How the mighty have fallen. I used to whomp up meals that would have made a buffet restaurant look meager. You youngsters enjoy it while you may cause one fine day you too might have to pay.:lmao:

When you raided those eggs, and I know you did, I hope you made sure to empty them evenly so it will be less noticeable. Also eating the feet off the chocolate rabbit is not nearly as noticeable as eating the ears. In my experience most children have passed out from a sugar high before they get to the toes anyway. Just make sure you get them a really big, solid, chocolate rabbit. No white chocolate need apply.

SG

Happy Easter!

Bonz, so, did you raid the eggs before they awoke?

Linda, crustless strawberry pie? Sounds good! I'm not a crust person. What, no white chocolate? I use to be one of the few to order white chocolate bunnies when our school sold them.

We colored eggs last night. Daddy keeps saying the boy is too old, but he so enjoys it. I keep catching him in there admiring his work. So cute.

Hope you all have a wonderful Easter!

Dang, I missed out on a lot here. lol

Poor Cheryl potato overload instead of chocolate. Sadly they probably have the same about of carbs and calories.

Melissa,
Jacob will tell you when he is too old for coloring eggs and if he never is that is ok too. Will no longer wanted to color eggs around age 10 but wanted us to hide easter eggs till this last year. This year he said forget it just get me a 1lb chocolate easter bunny and hide it for me. He will slowly eat that over the next month. I typically don't have junk food in the house so he loves his chocolate bunny for Easter.

TB,
Tell the truth did you eat a little bit from the eggs or wait till he found them and then sneak a bit out of the basket.

We are having early warm weather here and I am enjoying it tremendously and hoping it means a hot summer.

We are having early warm weather here and I am enjoying it tremendously and hoping it means a hot summer.

Ok, I was going to flame you for this statement, but I'm ok with it as long as you keep it up there.:lmao: Seriously though, keep it up there!!!!

I have to let Jonas know about Will and Easter. Jacob would paint eggs every day of the year if he could. He does like art.

Cheryl, are you out of the coma yet?

And TB, we are still waiting and I'm not so sure we are patient ladies.

Ang, if you have not told Will what we discussed last night please do not. I would like to surprise him this time. The site says that the Electric Light Parade is coming back the beginning of June. I will make my plans accordingly. Now to get a good code for one night. :goodvibes

Cheryl, I would much rather have chocolate than potatoes any time but might be willing for latkes with sour cream but I do think that is allowed. I barely know the rules of being a Presbyterian. :confused3

JM, if you eat white chocolate that just leaves more for moi!:yay:

Interesting thing I just learned. The church behind my house has a big sign saying that everyone is welcome no matter what they have done, which sort of rankles me when I see it because it seems awfully arrogant. Anywho, they sent a registered letter to a member telling them that they were not allowed to attend anymore because they disagreed with something the minister said in the sermon. Granted the person in question is argumentative but it just seems wrong.

SG, who is slowing getting some things done and thinks that you can color eggs, hand a stocking or whatever as long as you want.

Ang, you can keep all that hot weather. Some of us like to breathe and I cannot when it is hot. Is only downside to moving to Florida. A major one though. Wish other states had such nice retirement communities, that I could afford. sigh

SG

Melissa,

I have no desire to share my warmth with anyone so don't worry about that. Sadly, I am waiting for the menopausal sweating to start just so I can feel warm all year long.
Then I will be on here complaining about it. lol

I agree with SG we should be allowed to color eggs, believe in Santa etc. for as long as we choose. If Jonas doesn't want him to color eggs at Easter then I say color eggs with Jacob all year long. Maybe then he will be burnt out by next Easter and then Jonas will get his wish. lol Just think off all the egg salad that would be enjoyed all year long. lol

When Will came home from school years ago and told me a kid at school told him there was no Santa I just told him we all have a choice to believe in Santa or not. It is when we tell our parents we are done believing that no presents will have a tag that says from Santa. They will all just say from Mom and Dad so he needs to decide what he chooses to believe. He tells me every year that he still believes while he smiles a big smile. lol

Heck I still believe that someday DS will decide to do all his homework and turn it in on time. I will never stop believing no matter how dissolusional it is. lol

SG,
I am going to have to look up and see if I can figure out when the Electic light parade starts. I hope I get to see it this year.

It sounds like the person who got kicked out of the church needs to show up next Sunday and stand up thanking the pastor for putting up the sign to let them know that they are welcome back no matter what they've done. lol

Ang, I totally agree with you about the church memeber!!! What a great suggestion.

SG, you coming to FL to WDW? What date? What a treat to get to hang out with you and Ang...if you'll have me? And I want to see the Electrical Parade as I never got the chance to see it.

And you will have to fight with Jacob over those chocolate bunny's. I'll keep all the white chocolate for myself and be happy.

And I still get gifts from my Mom's house that say they are from Santa. Guess he hasn't figured out I got married and moved away.:)

So, is Cheryl still in her potato coma and I guess TB is in a chocolate one since we haven't heard from the since. I am just in a silly mood lately.

Hope you are all having a great week.
