Sept. 2009 @ WDW! Be a Pop Tart 2009~come share your(Bounce Back or NOT)Dates !!!

Hi Cheryl, here is what I have: June 6th, Saturday at Turf Club at 5:10p Looking forward to meeting you. Is your DH coming?

Hey guys, I'm just reading backwards trying to catch up a bit. I'm thinking of trying Turf Club in Sept, how did you guys like it here? What did you have?

ok gang I need some serious help if you please.

I read somewhere about getting a 10% discount on a new passholders card if you are a passholder and you get a 25dollar gift card. Can someone point me in the right direction for this because apparently no one at Disney seems to know anything about it.

Hey Nancy,
There were 4 coupons in the most recent Mickey Monitor. You can see them on the Passholder site when you log in with your AP number. I don't get the MM mailed to me so I guess I'm out of luck. You can find out more info here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2164541

Nancy--the problem with these cards, as you've probably already figured out, is you have to buy the AP's before the end of July, and most of us aren't going until we can get free eats in August, September or October. And the $25 gift card goes to the existing passholder, not the one buying the AP (though 10% off an AP is better than the $25!). I actually still have a couple of these cards if you or anyone else needs them. (I just didn't want to seem like I was pimping them on this thread.)

Hey all--wish I had time to reply to everyone personally, but it's my birthday today (already got a couple of happy birthdays over on FB--thanks Nancy & JM & Kris!), so I've got to finish cleaning the house before I make dinner and make myself a cake. Ah, the life of the poor and unknown!

I still have a couple of those cards also. Gave one to my neighbor, but her kids are gone most of the Summer so I don't know if she will use it. Disney sure knows how to offer deals around dates most people aren't going. I'm really interested to see if July is going to be busy, sounds like August will be worse with the free dining.

Hope you had a nice B-Day Thunderbird.

Janjandis, I really enjoyed Turf Club, but you have probably found my post on it by now. If not, I had the Grilled Tuna and DH had the Prime Rib. Both of use cleaned our plate. Everyone else had their cheeseburgers and they looked really good. Cheryl and her husband were saying if you get there at 5:00pm you normally don't have to wait.

Finally tried the community pool yesterday. It was very nice and I thought it was funny that we met another family originally from Midland, but moved here from Lubbock four years ago. Midland is just 80 miles from my hometown. The mother told me early in the morning was very nice, hardly anyone goes at that time of day, so I guess that is when we will be going. The water was just right and it was already in the mid 80's at 10:00.

Thanks to everyone who has helped me out on my plite(sp) but it seems as if this will not work out for me and Mike but I appreciate everyone who gave me advice on this. We are going back in Sept.

Nancy, don't it just get your goat when they offer something and then it is not quite what you can use? Frustrating for sure. Been there, done that. Let us know how this September trip goes re differences in years past. I am finally missing one of the FD trips. I just cannot handle the heat and free is nice but not as nice as being able to breathe.:rotfl:

TB, Happy Birthday gal! I am sorry I am not one of those who keeps track of everyone's BD. I barely remember my own. I hope you have something special planned, or better yet, someone special has something planned. Do let us know, at least some of the details. :wizard:

JanJandis, you know I cannot help you out on the Turf Club. I never eat anywhere where shoes are required. :rotfl2:

JM, I am flattered that you compare me to your grandma, who you obviously love, but I do not think I am quite old enough. Might be though. :rotfl: There are those who teach for the paycheck and those who just are teachers because they love it and their students and that makes all the difference in the world. The CC adds so much to my life that it never enters my mind that I might be contributing something to theirs. Honestly, I am very selfish and do it for me. Makes my heart smile.

Dr's appts tomorrow and since I had yet another loss this week and am now into NEW pounds (lowest weight) I am thinking of taking myself to Chili's for some of those egg rolls. Having my eyes retouched up later this month. 30% of folks who have cataract sugery get a cloudiness later, months or years. Mine has gotten so bad that I can barely see the monitor and the surgery is low risk, I can drive myself, and cheaper than getting glasses so I am going for it. I am also thinking of raiding the savings account for a new hearing aid. Should not really but I am getting reckless in my dotage. :woohoo:

Ms. Linda the offer is exactly what I could use this time but there restrictions on the times and that you have to be at Disney to get it in person is the problem:headache::headache::mad: Don't they know by now that not everyone in this world can be at disney ALL the time:scared1::rotfl2:

good luck on your dr. appts. and hope all is well:hug:

Nancy, that is what I meant to say and did it poorly. lol Heck, it hard for some of us DISers to understand that we cannot be at DW all the time either. I think Disney's marketing leaves a bit to be desired. Frequent guests deserve perks that they can rely on and new folks need to be encouraged to come. I am thinking they are having quite a few empty rooms and getting something sure beats getting nothing.

I am dealing with my cable company and have become so fed up that I am willing to pay more to a competitor just to not have to deal with them anymore.

I like things to be simple and easy to understand. Just like me. :rotfl:

SG

SG, I doubt you as old as my grandma when she passed away several years ago, but your actions sure do remind me of her. Just not enough people like you two in the world.

Sorry to hear about more cable problems. I seem to be having issues of my own. The cable picture was messing up this morning and just now Jacob tried to watch Cartoon Network and all we get is a black screen. The big TV is getting it, but my TV in the bedroom is not. I thought as long as we had cable this digital switchover (which is what I am guessing this is) wouldn't effect us.:confused3 I've sent an email to the cable company to find out what the deal is. I sure hope I don't have to replace two TV's at once. Well, at least one of them has lasted 14 years.

And I am not good with B-Days either. Thankfully Facebook keeps up for me.:)

Hope everyone is doing well. Sorry the deals aren't working for people. I got an email today about 40% off around my birthday, but sadly I don't how I am going to afford everything else I have planned already. Hopefully more deals will keep coming with good dates.

My Dad, Stepmom and half brother will be in Orlando during my birthday. She said they would actually be at WDW on my birthday, so of course I will be there for my gift card. I asked her which park they are going to, but she hasn't said. Going with a large group from their church for a fine arts competition.

Wic, you posted as I was posting, glad you got a trip booked. Hopefully I will get to meet you.

Sg: I hate cable too - but satellite is worse here.

Turfclub: yes the green beans were awesome. I had a bland but great meal. I have IBS so I have many food triggers. So I get a chef ( and we are "regulars" so I get to know them well) they usually are great at getting me something. The tofu was great and the pasta as well.

As for the disney/ap stuff my inlaws want to go but there are no dining/ticket deals for residents. Maybe they should come up with stuff. I was able to get them to go using the Birthday deal and staying on our dvc points.

Melisssa: You may just need a new box. When we moved I had tons of problems and the new box fixed it.

But it is the TV's without the box that are not working, and just the one channel.:confused3 Very weird. I'm beginning to wonder if they changed the actual channel number for Cartoon Network, think I will go check that. That's how my brain works. I have to walk away from something to think about it.

Oh, and I think I forgot to mention. We are meeting Angela and Will at TL tomorrow. Hope I get some sleep, Jonas has to work from 11:30pm to 5:30am through this Saturday night. I hate these weird schedules hopefully they will get more team members for him.

ah not sure about that - the only tv without a box here is the guest bedoom. Will go check it.

As September nears, we will have to plan a time and day to meet up! :thumbsup2. Shawn and Mike plan on heading to Daytona one day to go to that Nascar racing school, so Nancy, Kellie and I will definately be available one day. :yay::yay:

Sounds good, it will have to be a weekend though since Jacob will be in school.

WTG Wic!!!! I am delighted to hear of your trip. I love it when folks I have met meet each other and often imagine the meeting. :thumbsup2

JM, there are a whole lot of folks like me in this town and nearby. Very high rate of volunteerism in this area. We have 'Grandparents" at the schools whose only job is to love the kids but I am not poor enough to qualify for that program. :goodvibes I have known some ladies for a couple of years before finding out that they go and read with the students at their schools. We have the Book Buddy program here where they pair up a student and adult for one on one reading help. Wonderful program. Not so special, I just tell you guys what I did for the day cause my days are nowhere near as interesting as you have.

Cheryl, might I ask why you did not like satellite? Comcast lies, overcharges and is driving me nuts. No competition here as AT&T UVerse has not hit here yet. I think things will change when they do. Competition is good.

I found the perfect birthday gifts for my next door neighbors and they were on sale. Very formal exterior pineapple pedestals for their newly painted steps. They fit perfectly and match well. Too formal for my house. They are 75 and 80 this year but you would never know it. He just ran his mower down the alley side of my house to keep it looking nice and he uses his snow blower on our sidewalk between his house and the church in the winter. He has a key to my garage as I have finally convinced him that it is idiocy for us both to have the same equipment. Been neighbors for over 33 years. Life is good.

Thought I would post before I go to bed. Spent the day with Angela and Will at TL. Had a great time. Will wanted to go on the slides, so we switched kids for a couple hours. Will and I rode all of the slides and Angela and Jacob enjoyed the wave pool and squirted people in the lazy river. I got scorched on my face and chest. Kept applying that sunscreen to my shoulders, but forgot the other parts of my body. :confused3 Jacob is a little pink under his eyes, but other than that he is fine, guess I got him covered well. Angela sent me a text that they were also burned, but ok.

Jonas has to work 12 hours tonight, went in at 5:30 pm. This schedule of his is making me crazy. Don't know what day of the week it is.

Cheryl, do you have Brighthouse cable?

SG, we have never had satellite. I always worry about losing the signal during storms. We have Brighthouse right now and for $90 we get our cable, telephone, and internet. Of course, that is a discount because basic cable is included in our homeowners fees. Which they are trying to cancel the contract because it doesn't support fair trade. I can understand that, but I hope it doesn't cause my bill to go up too much.:scared1:

Well, hope the DTV switch goes well for everyone. I will be so glad when tomorrow is over and hopefully I don't have to hear about it anymore. Oh, and that reminds me, Brighthouse emailed me back, they were having issues with some of their equipment yesterday. Their email actually said it is best to contact them for any issue so they can figure out what areas are effected. I always figure someone else has called. Jacob is happy to say Cartoon Network is back on. Guess I have to watch Total Drama Action with him now.:headache: Thanks for trying to help Cheryl.

Thanks to everyone who has helped me out on my plite(sp) but it seems as if this will not work out for me and Mike but I appreciate everyone who gave me advice on this. We are going back in Sept.

Bummer. But free dining is a better deal than 10% off the AP. . .

Let us know how this September trip goes re differences in years past. I am finally missing one of the FD trips. . . . except, of course, when you can't breathe. Hope the December free dining (or something even better) happens for you!

TB, Happy Birthday gal! I am sorry I am not one of those who keeps track of everyone's BD. I barely remember my own. I hope you have something special planned, or better yet, someone special has something planned. Do let us know, at least some of the details. :wizard:.

Nothing too exciting, I'm afraid (but thanks for all the birthday wishes, everyone!). We don't usually make a big deal out of our birthdays, preferring to save the money for things like Disney trips. But my neighbor did take my kids out for ice cream, so I had a few minutes of peace and quiet. . . almost. If only she had taken the biggest kid (dh), it would have been perfect.

Dr's appts tomorrow and since I had yet another loss this week and am now into NEW pounds (lowest weight) I am thinking of taking myself to Chili's for some of those egg rolls. Congrats on the continued loss! Though I have to admit, when you said you were having your "eyes retouched" I imagined you getting an eye lift--which you definitely don't need, so it didn't make any sense to me. Then I figured it out.  Hope it goes as well as expected!

Just popping in to say "I'm going to Disney September 12 - 19th"! :thumbsup2:woohoo::woohoo:

:woohoo: :woohoo: Sorry we'll miss each other, but have a great time!

Competition is good--we switched to that new Verizon FIOS, and it's way better than our old Comcast. I didn't dislike Comcast enough to consider switching to satellite, though. Too many horror stories about it around here.

Glad you all had fun at TL, but sorry you're all paying for it with a sunburn. I completely forgot that Total Drama Action was starting--I didn't TiVo it and my kids are going to kill me. :headache: Good thing they rerun everything constantly on cable channels.

One more week of school, and about three weeks worth of stuff to do to get through it. I'm so ready--I think I'm looking forward to it more than the kids are this year. Have a great weekend everyone!

Hope all are well...sorry I've been neglecting my PopTarts but DM is here until Sunday....went to Schlitterbahn, beach, lots of shopping and eating! :goodvibes
Now its my turn to complain....DM & DD decided they want to join us @Disney in August :cheer2:
but I called last night to add them to our reservation the CM said there is NOTHING available at POP (with free dining) for our days (8/16-8/22.) They suggested I keep calling back for cancellations :headache:
The worst part is that Diva Becky just called last week and cancelled their reservations! Had I known my parents wanted to come we could've just changed the names on the reservations! :sad1:
So do any of you wise Poppers have any suggestions or advice for us?!?!?
