Sept 20,2011 Wonder Repositioning Cruise

so glad to hear the correct news about bringing liquor on board - I was NOT pleased with that policy change - so glad it was bogus. Did anyone ever post where a nearby liquor store is to the port?
got my cruise documents - they're not as fancy and fun as they used to be..oh well.
also ordered my rainforest spa passes - wahoo!

I'm putting together two Welcome Aboard packages for both of my children. My son will love it since he is 5 and I am hoping my 2 year old daughter will just love the Mickey.

They are going to be made out to be from Mickey Mouse. Each child will get a card with a note from Mickey AND a Cruise Line Mickey Mouse and Ears.

I hope to get them in the mail soon!!!

SWWWWEEEEET!!!! what a cool dad!!!!

I found this on Trip Advisor...

There is a BC liquor store about 4 blocks from the Pan Pacific - at the Harbour Centre

here is another note by the OP....

"Forgot to add that even though the Harbour Centre liquor store is the closest, it is a smaller store and doesn't have the choice of the Alberni Store. The largest government liquor store in Vanocuver is at Cambie and 41st, on the Canada line route if you really want to be overwhelmed by wine choices."

Bear in mind too buying liquor in Canada is different than in the US. Here it is very regulated and isn't sold in every grocery and corner store. It is licensed and only sold from "Beer and Wine Stores" or the Government run "BC Liquor Stores". The BC Liquor Stores will be the cheaper place to go, since the Beer and Wine stores have to buy from the Government BC Liquor Stores. (Can you say Monopoly?) On top of that, or more accurately because of that and all the taxes they pile on it, alcohol is more expensive in Canada than in the US.
Guess what I'm saying is, if you want cheaper and are allowed to bring it across the border, do that. Duty Free at the border might be an option too. Otherwise, the BC Liquor Store will be cheaper than a Beer and Wine Store as well. Just be prepared for some pricing "sticker shock" between Canada and the US.

John & Heather- Love you photos, especially the aviation ones. We really enjoyed The Museum of Flight and the Boeing Factory last year in Seattle. Sadly, my photos look nothing like yours....

Terry-Loved your sons wedding pics, especially the one with the bride and the golf club...too funny
How are little Caleb & Vivienne (sp?) doing?

Brenda I've always liked the Creative Memories line, haven't yet made the switch to digital photo books yet, but now that the camera's are digital I think that is the way to go. I still have a ton of old photos that need to be in photo albums. I am a procrastinator though....

Janice

Thank you Janice, I love when he posts pics on his facebook page. The last big Cambodian one he did, he had hubby help him.
I was with Vivian today and she slept the whole time!! But I did get her to smile and laugh at me!!
Caleb is doing fine, apparently he has a dr appt tomorrow with an Endocrinologist to check his thyroid levels.

Okay, with only 12 more work days, I'm starting to pack. Woo Hoo!:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

I was wondering if there are any pin traders going on this cruise? I'll have mine.

Finished up all the FE gifts today.

Now all I need to do is find room in my suitcase for them along with fitting in my clothes.

If you see me wearing the same thing twice....don't laugh  it's cause I won't have enough room after fitting in all the fun things to deliver.

We decided to deliver over 3 different days.:tinker: Hoping to get my exercise in that way.

So If it looks like you didn't get much from us after day one, just keep on checking there will be more coming.:smickey:

Thanks for the info! I think I Map Quested a Government store to go to. But now I'll double check. Must have wine a sip of Bailey's for vacation.

Thanks so much for all the info on liquor - I could put some in my checked bag and hope it doesn't break :)

oh yes - I am a fanatic - I'm bringing lots so let's be sure to get together - I hope there are some artist choice pins on our cruise

so is this our final list now that it is Sept 1? Thank you again so much for managing this. I want to buy you your drink of choice at Cove Cafe'? or elsewhere :)?

wrap well in bubble wrap & enclose in a couple of leakproof baggies; i decided to just bring mine as well, but will still need to find a store for good lemonade.

I made Jacob a count down chain and he got to take off the first link today!
He still doesn't realize that when he gets to the last one we are leaving for the cruise, I just told him that when he gets to the end he will get a surprise, but that I hadn't decided what it was yet, lol.

I'm going to have to video tape him on the morning we leave for the cruise, I have a feeling that it is going to be a reaction to remember once he realizes it is THE day that he has waited so long for!

So, who all is posting a trip report when they get back?
I'm planning to do one. I think it would be neat to read different peoples views of the same cruise :) We might all be able to spy ourselves in each others photos too, lol.

If you have room in your carry on, that would be the much safer way to carry it. I think Disney asks that you don't put any in your checked luggage. Those bags can get thrown around quite a bit!

One of the items I'm doing is a pin for the trip... I was wondering if there were any parents that particularly didn't want a small child to get one. I was sort of figuring the parents would decide if they want to keep it for their small child or they could trade or give it away. If you could please let me know if you wouldn't want me to give to them so I can remove them from the list.

That is such a great plan....wish i could do that with my 20 y/o LOL!!!!:rotfl: but may keep in mind for Baby Jaxon, once we decide on a cruise for him & his parents (or maybe just mom)

Yes - if flying it must be in your checked baggage (is that even still allowed???) but for the ship - it must be in your carryon....

Uh-oh...It's starting!

A few nights ago I dreamt I was on board but my daughter was not, she was getting on at the next port. I got off to meet her only to realize I hadn't taken any ID with me and had no way to get back on the ship! :sad2:

Last night: First there was a major storm with huge swells (yikes), then the family staying next door used our room as an entry way and 5 loud kids went traipsing through...that and two servers were using my room as a dressing room. :scared1: When I went to guest services to complain the fellow mocked me! :headache:

I can't wait to see what I think of next!
