The Wonder is about to leave Port for the LAST Alaskan cruise - my friend "Sunshine Brenda" is on the ship - i'm hoping she will hear WHAT is planned for the dry dock...if she does - i'll keep you posted...

Brenda ~ if you're checking the boards at all while you still have some internet....let us know what you hear on the dry dock plans! and bon voyage~

Well we may already have our answer....got this off the dry dock boards:


"I was just on the Wonder and asked the Captain. The ship will be dry docking in Victoria BC. The Walt Disney Theater is getting a new lighting system and new carpeting. All the outside decking will be refurbished. He said no big structural changes. Mostly just overall and refurbishments."

Some cruise lines forbid you completely from bringing alcohol on board, but Disney Cruise Line has always been an exception. Now, the line is tightening the rules starting on September 19. Here are the new restrictions:

-You may bring one bottle of wine or champage per person over age 21, or 6 bottles or cans of beer

-The alcoholic beverages must be carried onto the ship

-Alcohol found in checked luggage will be confiscated

-Excess alcohol found in carry-on luggage will be confiscated

As always, Disney Cruise Line charges a corkage fee for personal bottles of wine brought into the restaurants. Expect to pay $20 per bottle

I'll let dh figure out how he's going to get his bottle of rum on board.

I am planning on buying a Brita individual bottle for my drinking water. I usually bring a case of water on, but figured I'd make it easier for dh this cruise. I am a heavy packer and am trying to change my ways...

I would love a new camera for this trip. I will bring my Canon 20D. I wish I had just one perfect lens for traveling. I usually bring my 50mm and 75-300mm. I also wish I could learn how to shoot in manual. Must get out the manual!

ummmmm...can you tell i really really want to bring my Jim Beam Red Stag Black Cherry Whiskey on board????? Had it last year at the Epcot Food & Wine Fest....ohhhhh SOOOO good with GOOD lemonade (which is why a need a grocery store) in Vancouver as well - i'm really NOT a lush - i hardly ever drink but when cruising i do like to try the DOTD unless it has banana in it & love to have Jim Beam lemonade at the pool...thought i better explain - didn't want you all to think i'm a drunk LOL

i too drink a lot of water, but i have always bought the case of water onboard - it's a little more exp than buying it & carting it on....but i may try your idea....

TA has talked with DCL - the tweet & the examiner print has been retracted....the alcohol policy is still in place as it was & has always been,
soooo i will have my Red Stag Black Cherry whiskey & Momto3Princesses' DH will have his rum & whoever wanted to bring their tequila - bring it

I also wouldn't get too worried about the new alcohol rules. It wasn't DCL that posted it, it isn't on their website, and the CM's (when people have called to ask about it) didn't know anything about it....

Won't be a problem for us though since we aren't bringing any on with us. I would love to have a drink of the day or two though, lol.

My mom was talking about bringing water on board, but I'm trying to talk her out of it, and to not purchase a case on board. The tap water on board is perfectly fine for drinking, so why spend the extra for bottled (just my own opinion, as I know some don't like the taste of some tap water).

For anyone going to Disneyland afterwards, is anyone using Von's grocery delivery service to your hotel? (or have used it in the past)?
I think we might use them for a few things like drinks/snacks/lunch stuff to bring into the parks with us. We will get continental breakfast at the hotel, and then I'm hoping to cover lunch or dinner and snacks each day so that we don't have to purchase more than one meal each day in/around the parks.

We've never used them and I'm hoping that it won't be too much of a hassle. I wonder if the hotel would hold our order for us, or put it into our room if it came while we weren't there... I'll have to call Carousel and ask them!

I have not used Von's. But I have used Albertsons in Disneyland. It was relatively painless. The Albertsons’ site stated that I needed to pick a time of delivery and be at the hotel at the time that they delivered. I have no idea why, because they simply dropped off the order at bell services. Bell services then called me and stated that they had my order and a bell boy brought it to our room about half an hour to an hour later.

Oh...this was at the Grand Californian

That is a bit crazy when you break it down.

Question for those in Vancouver - how easy is it to find a taxi at 1230 at night by the train station? I sent an email to Yellow Cab asking them, and I have not gotten a response yet.

I'm not a lush, however, I will consume more alcohol during this trip that I have consumed this entire year to date. I'm relaxing... I'm not driving... I don't have a corporate "image" to uphold... I love trying different drinks o' day. The result....I am barely seen on deck without a drink in my hand.... and one after the spa... and one after the show in Cove Cafe... and one while I'm reading on deck.. on my way to dinner... on my way to lunch... during dinner... I think you get the idea......
