Sept 20,2011 Wonder Repositioning Cruise

We were it's third official voyage on Feb. 5th. I found it to be very user friendly and not overly crowded...but then again, I sailed w/o kids and I think those areas had a more frenetic feel to them....maybe that's the way it is on all the ships.

How about it guys: Do you sail with or without kids?

Do you think Disney does a good job of making all areas as relaxing as possible?

I often thought of how different the experience might be with children...

I don't know if you've seen my earlier post but I'm single with no children so obviously I travel alone.

I like children and from what I've seen on the DCL they really take care and entertain them. I've spoken with the cast members who work with the children and they have all sorts of special events just for the kids including character visits, talent contests, dances and video game competitions. I've visited all the different kid areas which are separated by age groups and I would love to be a kid on a Disney cruise.

I also enjoy the adult only areas such as the pools and lounge areas and of course Palos.

Oh yes, I did see you travel alone.
What I meant was, Since I travel w/o kids I wonder how that experience differs than those who do...Is it as relaxing?

I know I have seen the kids area and wish I were a kid myself!! Even the teens and tweens have areas that look amazing.

But, I have raised kids and wonder how parents feel about the family areas....To be honest they looked crowded. Is that just because I'm not parenting anymore and I've forgotten what it's like?

Parents: If you've gotten to experience both the family and the adult only areas..do you think Disney does them equally as well??

I hope to be a grandma someday...Gotta start planning early :rolleyes1

On our first Disney Cruise we had our 2.5yr old son with us on a 3-nighter.
I found that with it being only 3 night (with no sea days), we never took our son to Flounders or the kids clubs at all, actually we never even saw them once, lol. We were too busy going to port/CC or our meals and shows.
So I'm quite looking forward to experiencing the children's activities this time.

And I'd really love to check out the Quiet Cove area too, our last cruise we didn't even step foot in a pool (except for DS who got to play in the splash pad on embarkation day for 15 minutes). I will definitely be getting in a pool this time!

I am so excited for this cruise. Got our airline tickets booked, our hotel at Pan Pacific for the night before the cruise, and a room booked at the Disneyland Hotel for the day we disembark. So the only thing we have left is to book transportation from the cruise ship to Disneyland.

Yay! It is so much fun getting everything planned and organized for a Disney trip!We too need to figure out our transportation from the cruise to the Carousel Inn.
Does anyone know if Disney will have transportation options for their good neighbor hotels or is it just to their DL hotels? I wonder how much it would be to rent a limo, that could be fun :)

Yeah we aren't for sure how we are getting to the cruise ship to Disneyland. DH is still researching that. We have done two Disney cruises in Florida. The first one we hired a limo service. The second cruise we used Disney's buses. I preferred the limo service, less waiting. I say "limo service" but they technically drove us in a town car. The driver was super nice and had great stories.

So, we still have not been able to add our infant to the 5 night cruise.....

So we decided to go on the 7 night Mexican Riviera Cruise :cool1:

We are not the biggest fans of any of the stops (went once a few years ago with Carnival) so we will be enjoying the ship for 7 great nights!!

Best part, no need to fly up to Canada. We get to haul all of our crap 35 miles to the port and toss it in!

You guys have fun on the repo trip, and remember to be gentle to her, we will be embarking the day you disembark.

Aww, that's too bad that you couldn't get him added :headache:
We'll keep the ship nice and 'ship shape' for you though :thumbsup2

My kids were teens when we went on our first cruise, so I can tell you that they do a fabulous job with the teen club-my youngest spent all his time there!

Quiet Cove is very nice and never too crowded, also there is an enclosed adult are above the Cove called the Outlook, it was built for the Alaska cruises and they don't have a similar area on the 'Magic'. Nice place to have a drink or coffee and watch the ocean of read a book, especially if the weather is bad.

After the MR cruise, we used Supershuttle from the Port to the Candy Cane Inn. We had prepaid, but you still had to wait in line for the next available shuttle. I think we had to wait over an hour ouside in the rain. Not fun at all
next time I think we will spend extra and just grab a cab. The Disney buses just go to the Disney Hotels, not sure if you can even book one if you're not staying at one of there resorts...it could be worth enquiring about though..

But you'll have a great time and I bet you'll feel better about having the babe with you

We decided to book Disney transportaion to the GCV. It was only $30.00 per person. I had to call member services to add it.

I am so excited for this cruise. :cool1::cool1:

Welcome to all who are new to the thread. :thumbsup2 (or new since the last time I checked in. ;) )

So sorry they couldn't add the baby! :confused3 but very happy that you are doing the MR. That should be loads of fun. There are a few people on this cruise that will be on that cruise too. :):)

For my cruisemates who are taking the train into Vancouver, how are you planning on getting to the port from the train station? We're taking Amtrak in on the morning of the 19th, then have an Enterprise rental reserved near the train station so we can go to see the aquarium etc etc and get to our airport hotel (only one avail that date on points-would have prefered the harbor), then returning the car to the downtown location near the train station. Any idea how much the cab fare is to the port from the train? Kinda curious if its not too far if I can get enterprise shuttle to drop us at the port. How early are people planning on trying to board?

Can you drop the car off at the airport at all? You can then take the skytrain from the airport to the port :)

Another group, checking in!

There will be four of us - three have sailed before, on the Magic. Can't wait to explore the Wonder!

We're in the process of looking for a hotel in Vancouver and figuring out what to see in the few days we have there before the ship sails!

Hi There!!

So tell us a little bit about your group.

Oh, I'm afraid we're super boring!

Two sisters, a sister-in-law and daughter. I believe we're all most looking forward to doing nothing.
Ha!

Ha!

Doing nothing sounds great!

I think our group is most looking forward to the food, lol. And the fact that we don't have to make/clean it up and it's plentiful! :lmao:

Picking up the car downtown by the train station so will be dropping it off there, otherwise there's a drop fee. The good news is that some rooms at the Marriott Pinnacle near the Harbor just opened up which would solve the complications of getting to port, the bad news is none of them are available for points which is what we're using. :sad1: Just have to keep watching the Marriott site until the last minute I guess ...
I'll look into the Skytrain though. Hadn't considered mass transit with luggage but if DH dropped the rest of the crew off with the luggage, then returned the car and came to the port that way it might work. Thanks for the idea!

I believe we're all most looking forward to doing nothing.
Ha!
Funny I think that's why many of us booked this cruise - for the sea days of being pampered Disney-style. Since I live on an island I have no desire to go to the Bahamas/Caribbean, and most of the destinations the cruises offer, I just want to experience the Mouse feeding/entertaining me round-the-clock.
