Sept 20,2011 Wonder Repositioning Cruise

The skytrain goes from the airport the the station right by the port, you will have to walk a couple blocks from the station to the port though. I have never taken the skytrain, but gathered all this info from the "vancouver info" thread on the main DCL board here, and then looked it up on google as well, lol.

Here is a link, there is a photo (2nd down I think) that shows the station and the walking distance:

How long of a walk is it? 10 minutes? 20?

Well, probably not. :( Although, I have a sister who lives near SD. ;) But when we get off the boat, we're going to have our sisters (his AND mine both live in CA) join us at Disneyland for a few days before we head back to Washington. But we'll definitely have to plan to meet on the ship! :)

Definitely :yay::yay::yay:

Hi everyone :) My name is Michelle and my husband Steve and 7 year old daughter Kate are also booked for this cruise, we are staying in room 5020 (yah secret porthole room) as well as a stay at the Grand Californian for 4 day after. First cruise for all of us so I am really excited

Welcome to the thread Michelle. My name is Heather, and I will be traveling with my DH John - it is our first cruise also.

Hi Michelle, I'm Crystal. Welcome to our group!
Great job getting a secret porthole room!
Sure wish I was staying at the GC at Disneyland too, but we will be across the street at the carousel inn :)

Hi Michelle. :)

What are the secret porthole rooms and how do you know where they are?

Hi Michelle. :)

What are the secret porthole rooms and how do you know where they are?

Hi all and thanks for the welcome. The excitement is becoming contagious, my mom had now decided to come along with us for the cruise, my dad is not convinced yet.

Makayna, the secret porthole rooms are 4 (I think) rooms that are on the 5th floor that are sold at inside rooms but actually have portholes but since they are somewhat obstructed, the don't sell them as such. When I was doing research on the cruise I found out about the rooms so when they opened up bookings for Vancouver, I called and asked about it. We were the third guests booked on the cruise, so its been a looooooooooooong wait :)

Someone also told me that there are secret verandah rooms, sold as porthole rooms but I'm not sure which rooms they are.

The secret verandah rooms are on deck 7 (same room numbers as the secret portholes, but starting with 7 not 5).

I wasn't going to fly in a day early, but after reading about that poor family that missed their cruise I'm going to.
I want very much to stay at the Pan Pacific but I can't find it for less than $270 usd (including taxes)
Anyone else thinking of staying here? Have you found a palatable price?

We did look at Pan Pacific since I remember staying there awhile back and it was lovely but I didn't see prices less than that. Really I just kept hunting for anything under $200 near the port, never found one, and decided that to stay near the airport on points and rent a car would be a lot more affordable, and I think I've finally worked out all the kinks to that plan. Just couldn't conscience over $200 for a place to sleep for 16 hours ... I only shell out that much if we're going to be somewhere several days and relax and enjoy the room/amenities. There's a list of nice places on the main Vancouver FAQ thread, was kind of hoping the prices would be down since we're the last cruise ship(s) leaving Vancouver, but to such luck. Could always try for a 4* on Priceline and check the Better Bidding website to see what you might get; that was my back-up plan if we couldn't use points in Vancouver on that night.
Now to find the post with the percent off coupon for Amtrak for Princess cruisers and my pre-cruise reservations will be complete ...

We haven't finalized our hotel stay either. It gets to be a long day for us as well as we'll be flying Mexico City to Phoenix (very early departure), a short layover in PHX (hopefully not TOO short as we'll have to go through customs) and then on from there to Vancouver. We arrive in VAN early afternoon and while we'd LOVE to do Pan Pacific, I don't think it's in the cards this time around but being near the port would be a nice touch! I've looked at better bidding but just not sure what's gonna happen!

Maybe it's time for a margarita to think these things over.....

I ended up using Hotwire and got the Sheraton Wall Center for $153 USD, including taxes. I can live with that, and since we'll be in for almost the whole day, it's central location is an asset.

Rosie,
Would you mind sharing the details of that win. 3*, 4*, amenities? I could live with a price like that.

It showed up as a 4* in Vancouver downtown West. It showed a spa, restaurant, pool and a business center.

Can you tell me which numbers exactly? And is this just on the Wonder or are ALL ships like this?!

Well I guess I'm coming home after the cruise and my two days in Dl. :lmao:

I found airfare for $139.00 and said sold!!!! Less than 7 hours to get from sna to phl. I'm thrilled. :cool1::cool1:

So the only thing left is the hotel in Vancouver. We will get into Vancouver about 9:30 in the morning on Monday, so we need to plan a full day of touring and even a bit of touring Tuesday morning.

Welcome to all the new folks on the thread. Can't wait to meet everyone.

So is there an FE exchange happening on this cruise? I'd be interested in participating if there was. They sound like a lot of fun! :)
