Sept 20,2011 Wonder Repositioning Cruise

:yay::yay: We got an email from our TA yesterday saying Disney gave us an upgrade so we're now in room 8036 :woohoo:

Wow, upgrade :thumbsup2

I cannot believe it is almost a year since I started this thread and all of the things that have happened.

I retired.

My son moved out of the house.

My wife retired.

re-did the dining room.

Congress took a large chunk out of my retirement savings with their fight over the debt limit. (Glad this trip is already paid for)

Daughter started senior year of college.

Hurricane Irene and some basement flooding. Cleaned out the basement :(

In a couple of weeks we drop the dogs off at doggie camp and we are off to Vancouver and the Great Disney Adventure!

Hope everyone else is hanging in there. I will spend some time catching up on the 100 or so messages in the thread since I last had enough brains to actually read this.

Really, really, really ready to start this vacation.

My, what a year, time flies :goodvibes

I've had some good news too: Yesterday I got a phone call from a woman who owns a business that was right next door to my old job. She said she's known my boss/owner for over 20 years and was so sorry to hear of the business's demise. Then she went on to say that my boss and the company's owner had told her what an excellent worker I was and she had an opening she thought I'd be perfect for!!!!! We meet next week and she said I could start after the cruise!!....I'm on cloud 9!

Congratulations on the job :dance3:

What about the shopping tour in Ensenada? I kind of feel like we should at least go to Mexico...

I am rethinking Ensenada (at first I wasn't getting off the ship) and may do the shopping tour just to see some of the sites. Not sure yet :confused3

i too have a crummy cold - but glad to have it now & OVER before sailing :) Not sure if next weekend's Giants game which got moved to an evening start will be all that good for me - oh well....not missing that!!!

Still working on my cold, but I'm feeling a little better :)

Still to do:
  • Find the FE gifts that I hid somewhere safe but now can't remember where that is!
  • Pack
  • Oh yeah, and tell the kids

Our still to do:

1. Transportation to and from our Anaheim Hotel after the cruise
2. Pack

Well, I'm all packed up and ready for the cruise! :cool1: Is it September 20th yet?! :confused3

Packed? :scared1: You are packed for the cruise and packing the house too, that is a lot of packing. :worship:

The only thing I have packed is the first aid kit :confused3

So DH and I still have our colds :(
DD is getting a bit of a cough and DS just has some sniffles....
I was hoping that it would go away a little quicker!

Hopping you feel better soon. My cold is hanging on also. :sad2:

Today I completed the Disneyland Half Marathon and with that behind me I can concentrate on this trip for a much needed R&R. But this break will be short lived because within less than a week after this cruise I'll be flying out to WDW for the W&D Half Marathon.

Great job :worship: A Disney Half Marathon is on my bucket list.

My oldest daughter loves Seattle. She especially loves the food there.

My oldest daughter lives in Seattle. I go up twice a year for a visit. It is a great town.

Is anyone besides me playing the "I'll be doing ___________in two weeks or going _____________ in two weeks"!!!!!
OMG it's less than two weeks!!! Less than two weeks!!!!:cool1::dance3::yay::woohoo:
sorry - i'm just a LITTLE bit excited!!!!!

In two weeks we will be in Vancouver

We got our door decorations done and I finalized the packing list :woohoo:

I am so excited I just can't stand it. :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

I was going to pack today but figured I could pack on Wednesday after my colonoscopy. Won't have anything to do then!!! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

9 more working days & 11 more sleeps till we are on our way.....i still have to pack - did get out the suitcase & the packing cubes - and I have packed the swim suits...(i am optimistic that it will be warm enough to use them) ;).....

Charged the battery camera & deleted the photos from my card - hummmm 2nd card??? maybe.....

still have to hit the liquor store but thinking i had better wait till sister arrives - she may want to pick up a bottle of somethin....or can help herself to my wine cabinet (we never drink wine at home anyway)

Hey there. We're going to be on the repositioning cruise, and are very excited! I just found out about this site, so hopefully I'm not jumping on too late for a meet-up. Any information anyone has to share for a new cruiser? We have NEVER been on a Disney -or any -cruise. We've got two girls (nine and five), and would love any thoughts, ideas, meet-ups, etc!

Thanks!!!

WELCOME.....where are you from? We are having two DIS meets, one at the Pan Pacific Hotel on Monday 9/19 from 4:30 - 6:30 (come and go as you please) and onboard the ship Tues at 3 pm in the Promenade Lounge....not sure if you have time to read thru the 118 or so pages, to get ideas etc. but feel free to ask any questions you may have - this is a great group - i'm so excited to meet everyone

It's really real isn't it!!
Wow - after a year and a half wait!!
YES it finally is!!!! and i just jumped on this cruise in APRIL....i have waited a year & a half for other cruises and that IS HARD TO DO!!!

Thanks for the quick response already! We're from Olympia - about an hour South of Seattle. We've only been waiting since January. We told the kids about a week ago, and they're already complaining about how long they've had to wait!

The only question I have at this point is about our dinner at Palo. I managed to schedule it for 6:30 at the exact same night as the pirate dinner. At this point I can't change it via the computer. Are they tough to change the day of boarding? Would 6:30 run into pirate night?

As soon as you get onboard, go to Guest Services or Palo directly & see about changing it - they always keep some open reservations for onboard guests etc

I am also counting down the days. I am kinda rubbing it in with a couple of people as I am missing a big fundraiser at work (and there are a couple of depts, who want me there. They even asked my manager if I could be flown in for the night and he said no)

Welcome to the thread. My Husband and I are also first time cruisers (as long as you do not count the Navy - then DH has several cruises under his belt)

Is there a list already put together for this cruise? I didn't see one in the threads...

Or I could have looked at the start of the thread :) Any way we could be added?

Rick and Holly Chisa, Angela (9) and Maggie (5) in stateroom 6048 Deck 6

I'm not the official FE organizer, but I'll chime in. We had set a cut off date of the end of Aug.

I know with my gifts, they are handmade, and I won't have time to make more this close to sail date with all the other things I have going on, and I know others were hand making items as well and might have the same issue.

I hate to be Debbie Downer but the cutoff date was 8/30. I'm holding firm to the date. My gifts are done and packed. Sorry.

Do we have a final list for the FE posted already (updated with the couple of recent upgrades). I'd like to compare my list and make sure I'm not leaving anyone out, or have wrong room numbers.
Thanks

Rchello added the list to the very first post of the thread so it is easy to find. I just looked it over and everything looks good.

I completely respect the previous comments - I didn't realize we were past the deadline. We'll have to get in on the fun next time! Still looking forward to seeing all of you VERY soon!

Didn't someone recently get upgraded to a room # in the 8000's? I don't see that on there, anyone confirm for me?

We did a gourmet food tour last year in Seattle , through Savour Seattle-It was amazing!

Janice

We have the 2pm Savour Seattle tour booked for Monday and then will head out on the train the next morning.

I know there are a few on the Monday train to Vancouver. Who's doing the Tues. train with Donna and I ?????:cool1:
