Sept 20,2011 Wonder Repositioning Cruise

hummmm...you could get it & just have it packed away - then on Pirate Night (if she/he) wants a costume - you have one and won't have to scurry around the ships shops to put something together or worse have a sad child because you weren't able to find anything....if not needed - just return it to costco upon arrival back home....
That's genius! I may need to do this for next year's costume. Got to love Costco's return policy!
That's a good idea! Even though I have a costume, I'll still play the night by ear.
Taaren- you're son is adorable!! Sometimes, in my head, my daughter is still a little girl...but then she'll asks me if I need to use the bathroom, grabs my hand as we cross the street...and insist I drink some water...and I realize that the roles have changed and now she's looking after me!!
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
The years go by too quickly. Seems like yesterday he was an infant and now he's in kindergarten, tomorrow he'll be graduating from high school. Hence why Disney Cruises are going to be my way of holding onto the joy or making memories while he's young.
While not usually a dressing up kind of person (Used to be a theatrical technician before the DS was born so I was always in black making and fixing other people's costumes), when I saw the POTC4 costumes online for adults, I couldn't resist. Having the small person around is a good excuse for me to be more playful since otherwise I might think myself far too dignified to dress up! ;) Hoping there will be lots of other adults dressed up too, but if I end up having one too many cocktails on Pirate Night and being silly in my costume the only place I'll see everybody again is here on the DIS! :rotfl:

One of the best aspects of having grown children is I can now slack off and behave like a bit of a kid myself. I was always so careful and diligent when I was raising my girls...always tried to set the example of who I wanted them to be. I had to rein in my uninhibited side, though I was always playful. Now that they're grown (and I am extremely proud of the women they've become) I am truly enjoying their adult company...though it seems so weird that they are not my "babies" anymore.

I say enjoy every minute of it! Young, teenage (:scared1:) and fully grown.

I'm gonna encourage you to wear that costume and enjoy yourself...

YIKES!!

You know, when I was a little girl I used to play a game on the NYC subway...I would pick the grumpiest looking person and I'd smile my toothless little girl grin at them until they relented and smiled back.

beware...I still do it, but with more teeth.

This, I can't wait to see! :lmao:

it is SOOOOO amazing (& much too sad) how FAST they grow up but sooooo NICE when you're really proud of the adults they have become!!!! Mine are 10 yrs apart....hoping to drag out those childhood years as long as possible

A little off topic, but I figured it was about time for an avatar that fit my user name better...

oh dang - we are not leaving for Anaheim till early Friday a.m.

I'm trying to decide what to wear for Pirate Night. I used to have this bar maid costume, but unfortunately, I do not have it anymore. However, I DO have the little white hat that went with it. I think I can find a flowy white skirt. Wish I had a black or brown one, but I doubt I do. I've got LOTS of black skirts, but they wouldn't be the right for this occasion. Not sure what type of shirt to wear. I obviously don't want to wear white because I'll probably be wearing a white skirt and a white hat. What color skirt should I wear? What type of shoes should I wear? I think I've come to terms that I'm going to have to buy shoes and/or a shirt, but I'd rather not buy anything else. I'm sure I can find some hoop earrings and I've got LOTS of long necklaces that I think would work. I'm just at a loss for what type of shirt to wear. Anyone got any suggestions or ideas?! :confused3

Oh, we have a few pieces packed already for her. It's a 50/50 shot as to whether she'll want to dress up but we're prepared if she does. My older daughter will dive right into it but the younger one is a moody little thing

I once wore a black / white striped sleeveless shirt with white capris and long black /red belts tied around the waist, another time i wore a black flowy skirt that i got on ebay with a red/white striped shirt that had short puffy sleeves...last time i had a shorter black skirt with a white off the shoulder sleeves...all times i just wore sandals/flipflops - lots of jewelry!!!! you'll look great in whatever you choose

We'll see...

We have our "outfits" for Pirate Night... They consist of a Mickey ears bandanna for Heather and a Goofy ears bandanna for me.

"Don't let dog ears in your boat!!"

I've been scouring my closet for things that will work. Ironically, just about everything I found are things I never wear anymore. :lmao: I found some bronzish looking earrings that someone gave me that I've never worn, a white 1/2 sleeve shirt that I never wear, a white skirt that I never wear, some white thigh highs that I never wear (they look good with the outfit and really "seal the deal" but I'm having a hard time getting them to stay up :confused3) a long brown, orange and gold necklace that I DO wear a lot, and some brown boots that I DO wear. So 4/6 of the items, I haven't worn in probably a year or more, if ever! LOL! :lmao: But I think they'll work for this. ;) I *might* go get a brownish/reddish vest that would really seal the deal, but I'd really rather not spend any money on my pirate outfit. We'll see. But otherwise, I think I've got my outfit put together!!!! :yay:

Now, to figure out what DH is going to wear.

We’ve scoured the closets and found most of what we need for out pirate outfits. We’ll see if we can put something together in the next few weeks.

Oh…and I have a 79 year child that is looking forward to dressing up as a pirate.

I have been reading (and reading and.....well you get it) and the Rainforest pass for the showers and steam room sound really interesting. I looked at what we can book now, and its not on the list so I am wondering two things: 1) Is it available on the Wonder? and 2) Do you have to book onboard?

Any info is appreciated :)
