Sept 20,2011 Wonder Repositioning Cruise

I've been scouring my closet for things that will work. Ironically, just about everything I found are things I never wear anymore. I found some bronzish looking earrings that someone gave me that I've never worn, a white 1/2 sleeve shirt that I never wear, a white skirt that I never wear, some white thigh highs that I never wear (they look good with the outfit and really "seal the deal" but I'm having a hard time getting them to stay up ) a long brown, orange and gold necklace that I DO wear a lot, and some brown boots that I DO wear. So 4/6 of the items, I haven't worn in probably a year or more, if ever! LOL! But I think they'll work for this. I *might* go get a brownish/reddish vest that would really seal the deal, but I'd really rather not spend any money on my pirate outfit. We'll see. But otherwise, I think I've got my outfit put together!!!!

Now, to figure out what DH is going to wear.

YAY!!! all sounds perfect!!!!!

We’ve scoured the closets and found most of what we need for out pirate outfits. We’ll see if we can put something together in the next few weeks.

Oh…and I have a 79 year child that is looking forward to dressing up as a pirate.

My mom and I have a bunch of stuff in bags to divide up by room # and I have a few more things to make up since I'm working on it when ever I can get a spare moment from the kids and this heat we're getting!

to those who have done it before on other disney cruises.
Whats so special? are those lounges really hard(tile)?
any part not working?

I'm not sure that's true. On the Alaskan cruises, they started in Vancouver, went to Victoria, then the rest of the stops were Alaska (U.S. stops). But maybe because they were also ending in Canada as well, so that was OK?! I really don't know much about the foreign port requirements, so you might be right. Just trying to figure out why it's OK for the Alaskan Cruises that they don't go to another country other than Canada, but it's not OK for this trip.

The Alaska cruises go back to where they started. Since ours starts in Canada and the first stop also is Canada, we still need to head to foreign port before heading to L.A.

And I was mistaken before: It's not really the Jones Act (which covers cargo) but rather the Passenger Vessel Services Act of 1886. Although it is a U.S. law, Canada has something similar on its books but I'm not sure what it is called or what it covers.

Yes the loungers are hard, but as you sink down on it, the warmth just lulls you and you will really enjoy the sensation.

On the four days I used it every day. On the 14 day I used it on a day by day basis.

Then why next year, for the repo cruise back to LA, are they stopping in Victoria, San Francisco and San Diego, but NOT in Ensenada (or anywhere else in Mexico)?

I think the only way you will ever get any kind of real answer would be to ask Disney themselves, and even then, depending on the CM you get on the phone, they may not know.

I will be the voice of dissension. I am not a fan of the Rainforest Room.

On our December '10 Wonder cruise, we won a Rainforest Day pass playing Bingo so we gave it a try and hated it. The Rainforest Room really isn't that big. I think it had four of the tile loungers, several saunas and maybe four showers (2 were out of order on our day). ***there might have been more, my memory is trying to block the visit .*** Anyway, with the loungers in use and other people walking around, it seemed way too crowded.

We were told by staff to leave our swimsuits on. Apparently not everyone was told that because DH got flashed by a grandma. So DH lasted less then five minutes before he was out of there.

Since people were camping out on the loungers, and sweating in a sauna isn't my thing, I wanted to try the soothing showers that everyone just went on and on about. So I took a shower...and I still don't see the appeal. It was a shower...yeah it had lots of different buttons and settings but still it is just a shower...a shower with my swimsuit on. I hate taking showers with my swimsuit on. The suit sucks up all the water and then I had to walk around with a wet squishy swimsuit looking for a towel in the crowded Rainforest Room. Hmmm, wait I am pretty sure we were given robes to wear but I don't remember thinking they were very absorbant.

So yeah the Rainforest Room isn't for everyone. I did enjoy the changing room and got a free disposable razor...which was actually nice since I forgot to pack one for the cruise. But would I visit the Rainforest Room again? Absolutely not, not even if I won another pass.

And if I hate it, I'm only out $16. Seems like a pretty small risk in the grand scheme of things. I'm hoping to get to try one of those loungers that everyone keeps raving about. And I'm patient enough to wait for one for a loooooooong time.

LOL, if I win another pass I will definitely put it in your fish extender. On the two cruises I've been on, one Bingo night is designated for Spa door prizes. The navigator should list which night is Spa prize night. Even if you don't want to play Bingo, you should stop by because they have a table of Spa reps who let you fill out a card to win some spa coupons. The reps go around later that night and put coupons in your Fish clip.

Yeah I never got to try the loungers because the occupants looked like they were going to spend the night on the loungers . Plus the Rainforest Room is hot, hot, hot. Technically you don't even need to use a sauna to sweat, just hang out in the main room.

There are some very unusual and archaic Maritime laws on the books, that have no rhyme or reason behind them.

For instance, the San Diego Maritime Museum has four vessels that are operational and are used on a regular basis. They are the Star of India, a three-masted barque (square rigger) built on the Isle of Man in Great Britain, the Surprise, a three-masted frigate used in the movie "Master and Commander..." built in Nova Scotia, the Californian, a schooner built in San Diego and the Pilot, a 30 foot boat also built in San Diego.

Because the Star and Surprise are "foreign-built" hulls, by US law they cannot be used to carry paying passengers, even though they are US flagged. Passengers may be carried but they must be guests of the museum. California and Pilot, because they were built in San Diego, may, and do, carry revenue passengers.

Thank you for posting this, I had the wrong idea completely about the whole thing. In my fantasy world, it was just me in there, hot rock lounger and my own private non-bathing suited shower, relaxing on a cruise ship kind of thing. Not some naked granny flashing a packed room of lounger hogs whilst I sweat in my soggy suit. That doesn't sound fun
