I just booked today for a three day. We have a 7 day booked in Jan, but I decided I could not wait. Anyone else out there?
Lisa

Bump...anyone...will we be on this ship all by ourselves?

:earsgirl:

Hello,
We are taking our first Disney Cruise on that date. The whole family is excited. This is also my first visit to this message board. I am doing a lot of research on the cruise. My husband and I have been on Carnival and RCCL. This is the first with our boys. (12 & 14).
Any hints would be wonderful.

Yeah! Someone else!

My husband and I had been on Carnival (yuck) and RCCL (ok) but once we did Disney, I do not htink we will ever go back! We are big Disney Fans. This will be our 5th Disney.....2 each 4 days and 2 each 7 days and this will be our first 3 day.

I will be happy to answer any questions, welcome to the boards! I have had great fun here and made very good friends! I have DS 16 (disney son), DD (disney daughter) 11 and DD9....at least that will be their ages in Sept. We live in Fairfax Co VA and school does not start until the 6th. My birthday is the 4th.

Where do you'll live?
Lisa

Wow!
We are in Harford County, Maryland. Our kids start school on August 29th. We thought missing two days of the first week was better than 2 days later in the year. How much snow are you getting?
We are still thinking about airlines & transfers vs. rental car. Is it best to get Disney arranged airfare or go your own. I know Southwest and Air Tran are the only non-stops out of BWI.
We have recently relocated from Florida, so WDW was a half a day car trip. We are borderline Disney freaks. My parents & siblings just do not understand the obsession.
I could go on & on. I am trying to remember all the trips we have made to WDW as a family.
Thanks for the reply.

That is so funny. My mom DM81...thinks I am totally crazy for loving Disney so much. She went on our last 7 day with us and had a great time. Maybe she understands a little better now. She is going next Jan with us again. I can't even tell how nutty my brothers think I am.

We usually drive to Disney. It is 13 hours straight through and when we do the cruise we park right at the terminal. I think we have done Disney airfare once....when we do fly, I arrange it. Don't forget to check FLYI from Dulles. They go direct. They had a sale 2 weeks ago and I missed it. $44 each way!
My nephew is a big FLYI fan and he is watching for the next sale. If you want I will let you know.

Not sure where your county is. I was brought up in Montgomery Co MD. Today I am leaving for a women's retreat in a place called Northeast MD, I think??

Snow....I guess we have 6 inches...sounds like more for Monday. If you have just moved from FL, I bet your boys are loving this!
Lisa

Lisa,
Good Morning!
We have not tried FLYI. We have not heard a lot about the airline. My DD flew Southwest this past summer and did not complain. On the other hand I flew Airtran last month (weekend of the huge snow storm) and was not very impressed. I know they can't control the weather but customer relations they can. I spent most of the weekend in Atlanta instead of my destination of Wisconson.
:sunny:
Harford County is north of Baltimore. We actually live in the town of Bel Air. We love the community, most everyone is well educated and socially adjusted. The boys love the snow! And they close the school here for snow days if the wind blows. They only went to school 2 days last week and probably will not go Monday if we do get that snow storm.

My DD grew up on the east coast of FL. So, WDW was a frequent destination. My first trip was when I was 4, shortly before my Mom past away. So It has always been a special heart string for me. (Grew up in Ohio). I think my DD and I were meant to be. This cruise is also a mini celebration of our 15th wedding anniversary.

I am starting to catch on to the lingo and other things on this message board. We are starting to think about a 7 night for next summer or fall.
My DS 14 is looking forward to the time w/o DM & DD. My DS 12 is looking forward to time w/o DS 14. My DS 14 is a video junkie, how intertaining will the teen club be for him? DS 12 is more interested in the food, loves the ideal of free room service. Today is DS 12s birthday.

Have you tried any of the spa treatments? They all sound wonderfull but pricey. Thinking of the rasul bath w/ DD. Have read lots about that on various web-sites. I could always use a facial & massage.

When you have flown to MCO, do you use the transfers or rental car. I have read lots about rental cars. Is saving a few dollars worth the extra work of picking up & returning a car?

And Palo. I have heard very mixed reviews on that. Is it worth the extra time? (reservations & dressing up) I really was not impressed with the menu that I have found posted online.

I am sure I will think of more. I don't want to occupy too much of your time. It is nice to find someone that loves Disney and understands. My coworkers just don't understand the thrill. Do you think e-mail would be easier?
Thanks again,
Charleen

Feel free to e-mail me anytime. lisa.halterman@cexp.com.

Lets see....I saw Harford county as I was driving to Northeast. It really was not far from Bel Air. We went out to eat at this seafood resturant named Woodie's Crab House I think. It was so good all my girlfriends were talking about driving up just to eat there again. If you like seafood, you should try it.

If you book your 7 day while on the three day, you will get 10% off and a $200 per room credit. It really is a good deal.

I have never been to the teen club, Daniel is a sprots nut , so he plays basketball and hangs out in diversions watching sports, till they throw him out (9:00pm no one under 18). I understand The Stack (Teen area) has Playstation. Most kids seem to like that....Your child that likes foods...will be in heaven!

I have done the spa.....not all that impressed. I always get massages before I leave, at my favorite place here. That way, I do not feel deprived on the ship and I do not waste the time while on the ship either. My girls and I always go get our nails done the day beoffre we leave.

When you used to fly, we always rented....but that was because I had a baby in a car seat...I was fussy about that....it also meant a stroller and I was happier in my own car. If I were going to do it today, I would rent. That is very helpful when you return too...if you flight is later on, you can drive around and see family, friends, sights....you know.

Palo is AWESOME! It is worth every bit of the time and trouble. We have never done brunch...so we may try that this time.

I work too.....but like my job. I design and sell office building furntiture. What do you do?

I have to admit in my haste to get away, I forgot to send in my deposit for this cruise I hope my reservation is still there...not sure when it expires???Oh well,,
Lisa

One more family going on the cruise with you! We're doing the land/sea combination for our first family cruise. We have one munchkin, DS who will be 9 when we cruise. Just thought I'd say hi! Oh, and just by way of coincidence, although I live in Alaska now, I'm from Virginia (Hampton), but spent time in Arlington, Alexandria & Boling AFB in DC.

Lois,
Gretchen will be thrilled there will be another 9 year old....Gretchen (my youngest) will turn 9 on July 24th. If you send me your e-mail I will send you a picture of Gretchen.

What is your daughter's name? What does she like? This will be Gretchen's 5 th Disney Cruise (yes I am nutty !!! about Disney)...we have our sixth booked for January 2006.

Gretchen likes dance, gymnatics, singing....anything she can do on a stage.
Thanks for writing....we can not wait!
Lisa

Well, Gretchen may or may not be happy to hear that my 9 y.o. is a boy. Zack is turning 9 on Tuesday (next week), and is a typical boy, into typical boy stuff. Some days girls are just other kids, some days girls are "eww, yuck, grrrls!" :earboy2: But it is nice to find other people who'll be on the same trip and I look forward to talking with you more between now and then!

Lois, You just made me laugh out loud!!

:rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

You did say DS and I just read right over that.....gues I wanted Zack to be a girl!
Well, show Zack Gretchen's picture....I forgot one was part of my signature...and see if he says GROSS....(her best friend is a boy, Andrew...but she would NEVER admit that to anyone)
Lisa

Hi Lois,
Would you happen to be an Air Force Family? Just wondering. I'm sure you read that I have a DS that is now 12. (Birthday last week). I can't remember from screen to screen, is this your first cruise? I wish we had more time so we could do a few days at WDW after the cruise.
Gotta go see why it sounds like the ceiling is coming down.
Charleen

We will be on this cruise. It will only be DH and myself. We are being greedy and leaving the kids at home!

Am I reading this correctly, counting us, there will be 3 other families from Dis on this cruise? Cool. Does anyone want to meet while onboard? Feel free to PM me. I will be glad to give anyone my email address on a PM.

Counting down the weeks, 9 weeks left! I can't wait to pack. Busy working on Mon & Tues. Then playing catch-up around the house rest the week.

Less than two months to go till the Wonder begins for us...anyone else counting it down?
