We have been busy trying to survive this weather. My grandparents live in orlando and my grandmother was in the hospital the first of August, so in addition to working, I have made 7, Seven, VII, round trips from Jax to orlando since the first of August. I am just checking in now to see whats up with our ports of call. We Floriadians have been wishing, hoping and praying Ivan dissapears! We just went 5 days without electricity last week and are all worn out. Plus we have spent most of our play money on plywood, batteries, can goods and other supplies! I refuse to go to the grocery until we get back from the cruise so we have juice boxes and jello in the fridge!

We understand. We feel like we're spending more time monitoring the weather the last few weeks rather than getting ready for our trip.

We too were without power for several days. Our fridge will only have the essentials (juice boxes, milk, coffee, apple sauce, & water) in it until after the cruise.

We hope that Ivan leaves us alone, and that you have a better week.

I feel like you do greenacres. I have spent the last few days working and watching the storm that I have not even begun to pack or booked an excursion. I think we are going to do the catamaran sail and snorkel in Nassau. Anyone else?

I am so overwhelmed with the thought of packing that I'm paralyzed. We're going to be gone for 10 days total- at a minimum that is 70 outfits for my family! AAHH!!

How many w/d are on the ship??? I have a set of two in my own home! I've read that they're difficult to get into. Does anyone know if you can send laundry out on the ship-- like the drycleaning?? I think I'd love to pay....

So, here's hoping I can get the lead out and start hopping. I, too have been preoccupied with Ivan updates. BTW, has anyone heard about CC yet-- can't find anything recent.

We havent even started packing. When I get home tomorrow, I guess that is what I need to do. We will be gone only 7 days though. Thank goodness. I dont know exactly what to even pack. I do know that we are taking Dom's princess dresses with us. Other than that and swimsuits. I dont know.
They are saying to expect 80-100 mph winds in our neck of the woods on Wed evening. So we still have that to look forward to. Looks like we are getting the type of weather most of Fla has been experiencing.
We also go back to work tomorrow night for the next 5 1/2 nights. Fun fun fun.
I think this is going to be the most unorganized I have been getting ready for a trip.

All I can say is WHEN DO WE LEAVE!!!!! I can't imagine living in FL! Having hurricanes bomb your power... water etc must really SUCK! Frances paid us a visit here in Western NC.... It was the worst I have ever seen... I am a little to young to remember the last time it was this bad (1970's)..... Well let me tell you... our house is fortunately high and dry.... we don't live close enough to any water to worry about floods...we live on the side of the mountain LOL... BUT.....

We have had NO water since Friday!!!! And I have to go to work TOMORROW!!!!! We did get to go to my ILs and shower as they are on a well. But the kicker in the whole thing... we got water back this morning about 9am... just to lose it AGAIN about 7pm!!!! AND all the sites giving out drinking water RAN OUT! I told DH I am NOT cooking, I've got a little water saved up and can buy more if I have to but sheesh! Now if Ivan comes hopefully I won't be home if it floods again and won't have to worry about having no water... I'll be SURROUNDED by water!!!!!

Can ya'll tell I am SO READY for this cruise!!! Will Saturday ever get here!! We're heading out bright and early Saturday morning to drive down!

I just read a post that said the Wonder will be in Charleston today. I'm a bit naive about these things, but I was surprised to hear that it moved up the coast and stayed near the mainland for Ivan (which seems to be moving westward and I didn't think affecting the Atlantic??) It would be really nice if DCL would like list potential alternativesl...

YEAH!!!!! I have only one sleep left then I will be on a plane for WDW!!!! I don't think it has hit me yet. All I could think about this morning was being late for the plane tommorow. I think it will hit me when we are landing on Fl. A couple years of planing is about to pay off! Then the Sept 19 wonder, I could just explode.

Getting very excited here too!!! DH wants to leave a day early to be ahead of Ivan... we are driving from Baton Rouge!

Picked up our green Mickey heads, have a few things packed, filled out our docs, ready to meet all of you (not shy btw but a little goofy!)....am I missing anything??

Has anyone ever ordered one of those gift baskets for their stateroom? I'm thinking about one ....

I am so excited that I can't get myself to start packing!!!!!!!!! Actually, I just don't know where to start! I know, I said I was gonna start packing this past Friday . Well, I did get all of the laundry done & our outfits/clothes are nicely stacked on top of the suitcases, but it just hasn't made it IN, yet! Just curious........how many pieces of luggage is everyone bringing? Does anyone know if a rolling duffle would be too big for the airport type scanner at the port? Just trying to figure out what my carry-on bag should be. Anyone else made any signs?

On the Hurricane Ivan thread someone posted there is another storm forming. NOT GOOD NEWS!

I emailed DCL last night to see if they would give me any info on CC. I got an email that said there have been no changes made to the itinerary at this point. Is that good news or do they just not want to commit to whether we are gonna get to go to CC or not. I wish I knew for sure!

Ok, I've really got to get my behind off of this computer & get to packing! My husband says I'm addicted to this computer. I have to admit he is right!

We are bringing 3 checked bags, one of which has another bag in it. Along with 2 carry on bags. DH thinks I am nuts to pack a small suitcase in a larger one. But I think he has forgotten how much we brought back with us on our last land and sea trip! I can't believe that we have just over 24 hours and we will be landing in FL!!!! Sailing, sailing, over the open waves....I CANNOT WAIT UNTIL FRIDAY gets here so we can get outta here! What I can wait for is the cleaning I have to do before our house guest comes to stay. Ha ha ha! Our hotel in Melbourne has been severely damamged due to Frances. All the hotel rooms faced the beach. Whoops! ((not sure of the hotel name)). We're not sure where we will be staying now, but I know the details will work out. I sent our door signs to the print center to be laminated. I feel happy knowing that one more task has been accomplised. I'm happy when any task gets accomplished as I am a procrastinator!

I was sad to read about baby Sophie's death. Her Grandpa wrote a beautfil note to all DISers. The note brought tears to my eyes.

Is it just me, or are more smilies and icons being added? Maybe you get more smilies each time you post??? I must be crazy. :

Our packing has begun! Our docs are ready! We are set to go! I just hope that the weather holds out for us. Has anyone seen tropical depression #11 yet? Heading for the Bahamas and scheduled to visit there Sunday & Monday as of right now. hurricaneadvisories.com I hope it fizzles out! Lots of pixie dust!!!!!

I just called DCL and asked them about our itinerary and if it would be changed due to tropical storm #11. They expect TS #11 to be a cat 1 hurricane by Saturday night and its expected to be inthe Bahamas early Sunday morning. They said that as of now our itinerary remains the same but a decision would be made either Thursday or Friday about any changes for our cruise. She said an itinerary change is an option and if it was chhanged, we may sail to Key West and/or Cozumel. They advised that they would be calling all booked passengers if this change occurred and suggested we call back on Friday. They also advised that the calls would be made in order of booking date with the most recent bookings being the last called. Hopefully all will go well!
