Sept 19th,2004 revisited.....

My fingers are crossed that Ivan changes course but......We can only hope. We talked to DCL today and they say that the itinerary will remain the same as of now. No changes. We'll see!

Faith (lilpooter)~ I'd love to see your sign when it's done (and everyone else's too!).

If anyone needs any of the clipart or backgrounds that I've used in my signs I would be happy to share it with you. Just send me an email or pm. I don't remember exactly where I got most of it, but if I've got it saved in my computer you are more than welcomed to it.

Well, gotta get to the laundry so I can start my packing! I'll be "checking in" thru out the day!

Disney Cruise Line Ships to Depart from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale Through Thursday

September 8, 2004
September 7, 2004, Celebration, Florida -- Because Port Canaveral remains closed due to complications from Hurricane Frances, Disney Cruise Line announced today that the Disney Wonder three-night cruise scheduled to depart from Port Canaveral on Thursday, September 9, will now depart from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale. Disney Cruise Line reservations agents are in the process of contacting guests scheduled to set sail on the September 9 cruise to make arrangements for them to arrive in Ft. Lauderdale.

Due to the situation at Port Canaveral, both the Disney Wonder and Disney Magic disembarked guests from Fort Lauderdale this morning. The Disney Magic will set sail today on a four-night cruise to Cozumel, Mexico, and the Disney Wonder cruise that was originally scheduled to depart on Sunday, September 5, has been cancelled. Guests scheduled for the September 5 cruise had the option of sailing on the Disney Magic four-night cruise that departs today based on space availability.

The next Disney Magic cruise, scheduled to depart on Saturday, September 11, is still expected to leave from Port Canaveral as planned. "The service and cooperation from those at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale during this time has been incredible, and we greatly appreciate their hospitality as we work through complications from the hurricane," said Karl Holz, president of Disney Cruise Line. "I also want to thank all of the crew members who have done a tremendous job of continuing to focus on providing great guest service through Hurricane Frances."

Holz added that Disney Cruise Line is working closely with the talented leaders at Port Canaveral to re-commence operations there at the first opportunity.

Disney Cruise Line is currently performing a detailed inspection of the company's private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay, including its navigation channel and docking facilities. At this time, all of the other ports of call Disney Cruise Line visits - including Nassau in the Bahamas - are open for business.

Guests who have questions can call (800) WDW-CRUISE for more information or visit our website at www.disneycruise.com . Media inquiries should be directed to Rena Langley, who can be reached at (407) 566-3687 or via pager at (877) 313-4763.

Ok, ya'll got me all excited again! I spoke with Debbie at DCL and she told me that CC could very possibly be ready for our trip. She said the damage was not as bad as expected and that they didn't have to dredge the dock. She did mention that the "adult" beach has alot more sand than it did ;)
She also said that PC has to be dredged. She took our cell numbers to contact us if there is a departure port change. She said there would be buses to transfer us from WDW or PC to new port if that were to happen. BTW, I posted this on a CC thread.
I was very encouraged that she was so optimistic about CC. She did mention that the Radisson at PC was a disaster-- don't know where her info for this came from.
We have reservations at Caribe Royal for Saturday the 18th-- couldn't find anything near PC, but I guess that was for the best since many hotels are not in good or operating shape.

For the record, I am fairly outgoing and so are a few of my kids. You probbly can't miss us since we seem to attract alot of stares walking around with our "herd" .

Can't wait!

Being optimistic is my husband's job. So, I'm trying my hardest to be optimistic about CC . Thanks for the report JusticeandJustin's mom about CC. I cannot wait until next Friday-that's when we leave from Indy. I did a ton of laundry day before yesterday. You should've seen my couch; it was brimming with every one's clothes. I got the kids clothes set aside (minus socks and shoes)...is that considered packing ?? I'm still creating our door sign. A friend of mine suggested laminating my paper to make it more durable. So, between the Mickey heads, cliparts, and Walt's text we should be all set. I have lots to say since I haven't posted in a while. See you all soon!:wave2:

I called too... to see what movies are playing... but also to see what they told me....

She said, it's possible, BUT still a big question mark right now... she like the ones already mentioned, took my cell in case they needed to inform us of any changes...

I wished her a good day and thanked her... and I was polite. and all... I know they prob have all kinds of panicing people...

So, what movies are currently playing on the Wonder? I have purposely not seen Princess Diaries 2 so that my sister & I can watch it on board.

Dzneprincess: Looks like we've lost touch with a few cruisers who posted way back on page 2. They were:

Debbie1967 - 2: herself & DS

Woody309 - party of about 15

Kikibob - party of 7

Don't know if they are still sailing or not since we haven't heard from them in quite a while. If you are out there, Debbie, Woody or Kikibob, please let us know!

On a sadder note: Ericamanda01 (ericamanda01 hope you don't mind me posting this) has lost her dear Grandmother to cancer and is debating on whether they should make the trip or not. Sorry, don't know how to link the other thread, but she has gotten lots of support from other disers. I'm sure we can all lend our support.:grouphug:

ericamanda I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I know it's very hard, but please try to think of what your grandmother would want. I was in the same situation once, supposed to go an trip and lost my grandmother, and the rest of my family made me sit and think about what she would have wanted. I had been so looking forward to the trip. They convinced me she would not have wanted me to cancel. She would have wanted me to go on my trip and try to enjoy myself. I did go and had fun even though it was bittersweet. If there's anything we can, let us know.

LOL, that post was by me orginally... geez, it's hard to keep up isn't it??

Princess Daries 2 is still playing... Finding Nemo, The Village, Ladykillers..(what is that???) POTC, etc... I didn't hear King Arthur though :(

Oh, well....

Ericamanda01, so sorry to hear of your loss. Please know my thoughts are with you and your family.

aeryncrichton, did you find out what movies are playing? I think I read on another post that The Village (isn't that scary?), Princess Diaries 2 (so glad, we also have held off on seeing that til the cruise!) and was it Home on the Range?

Well, I've finished 2 signs for the door. I will post soon for any comments or suggestions!

Quick question, is anyone packing 2-way radios? Was thinking of it, but didn't know if it was necessary.

Thanks,
Faith

aeryncrichton : "Ladykillers" is the Tom Hanks movie

Faith (lilpooter): Can't wait to see your signs!!!

I got the following info from two websites: THE VILLAGE- "At first glance this late nineteenth century village seems picture perfect. However, this close-knit community lives with the frightening knowledge that a race of creatures resides in the woods around them. The villagers share the fear of the evil and foreboding force that lurks outside. So frightening that one dare not venture beyond The Village and into the woods. Despite the advice of his elders, a curious and determined Lucius Hunt has a burning desire to step beyond the boundaries of the town into the unknown. Town leader, Edward Walker warns Lucius of the danger amongst the town's outskirts, and Lucius' mother, Alice Hunt advises him to stay at home and spare himself of the greed and desires that exist in the outside world. Lucius' strength is matched only by Ivy Walker, a beautiful and mesmerizing blind woman with an unusual wisdom beyond her years. Her fearless nature and gift-like perception are beyond anything Lucius has ever known. Both Lucius and the mischievous Noah Percy admire Ivy passionately, though her heart only has room for one of them. Her devotion eventually leads her down a forbidden path where terrifying truths are revealed. The ominous presence of the unknown boils over into chaos for the town, with one's bravery being the only thing that can save them. The truce between The Village and the creatures is ending."

LADYKILLERS: ." Hanks stars as Goldthwait Higginson Dorr III, Ph.D., a charlatan professor who’s assembled a gang of "experts" for the heist of the century. The thieves: experts in explosions, tunneling, and muscle, and the critical "inside man." The base of operations: the root cellar of an unsuspecting, church-going little old lady named Mrs. Munson (Hall). The ruse: the five need a place to practice their church music. The problem: it quickly becomes evident that Dorr’s thieves lack the mental capacity to do the job. The bigger problem: they have all seriously underestimated their upstairs host. When Mrs. Munson stumbles onto their plot and threatens to notify the authorities, the felonious five decide to do her in. After all, how hard can it be to knock off one old lady?"

Hope the info helps!

Our symapthies to you. ericamanda01 see my PM I sent to you when you have time. Hope to see you on 9/19. :flower2:

Finally, we got our cruise docs. We had about given up on them making it. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc doing the happy dance now. We are going to get to sail on the Mickey "boat" as Dom calls it. One week to go. We are still in room 7623, we are happy with it. Real close to the aft deck on 7.

Ericamanda01 sorry for your loss.

OMG, w/ Hurricanes and all, I didn't even notice, we are past the 10-day countdown...

*blushes*

I havn't had a chance to start packing. (I did take tags off new bathing suit, and new outfit, does that count???)

I need to find my 'island' outsite (You know, wrap around things, the sell everywhere? I got one at Belize back in Dec, but this one is pants and halter.. it's bright orange and has fishes... it's neat) iron that, and pack it neatly somehow....

I got a phyiscal Thursday...

We booked Radisson, but they didn't have any 'cruise' rooms left, so we ended up cancelling that one after we called the Comfot Inn on coaco beach, got a room for the 18th and 24th, the first date no 2-room suites, but we got one for the 24th, and they charged the same amount...

We also went on-line and booked the Confort Inn Suites Paradise Island... internet user's rate. It was 178.50 plus 10% for 3 adults, so we are set for Atlantis....

There is soo much left to do. I am soo glad Disney types all your room info on your luggage tags, all the other lines make YOU pen it in your-self. That is nice...

I'm gonna be run here and there next week like a chicken w/ it's head cut off....

*screams*

8 days....

GO AWAY IVAN, OR SPEED UP ONE....

Looks like Ivan, like Frances, may be heading for US again... if it slows down any more, it might get to us, when we are gone and our cats will be outside...

*panics*

GO AWAY IVAN...

Besides all the excitement that I don't want to stomp on:rolleyes: I am worrying about this "IVAN" coming? I pray we all can go on this cruise.. My kids have been looking forward to this for 7 months now.. I pray everyone is ok in Florida... I have 12 family members there.. Some in Tampa, Miami and Orlando.. They did ok thru Frances but Ivan is still pretty nasty... I pray it goes up the gulf and misses all of Florida all together...

I mean, there will be another cruise if they would have to change things.. But people whom have airline tickets? What happens with them? Plus we are flying down on USAIR and my boss just informed me that this Sunday they might be announcing they are BANKRUPT? :earseek:

My father is in the ICU at our local hospital with congestive heart faliure.. So I pray nothing happens to him while we are gone.. I tell ya what I NEED THIS VACATION, Badly....

Lets all keep our fingers crossed that IVAN does NOT come to Florida......

Thanks for letting me kinda vent.. I am under SO much stress right now....

Hope to see everyone on the 19th.. Even though I don't know any of you.. At least I know you all are there that have been visiting this thread!!!!

Thanks gain'
