ericamanda01, I just noticed you are from Portland! I lived in Oregon (Hillsboro) most of my life. We just recently moved to Louisiana.
Looking forward to a meet with all of you! Are you all veteran cruisers or is anyone going for the first time like us??

This will be our first ever cruise too! I'm getting really excited! :sunny:

::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

Count us in as well! First cruise for 2 DS and first time on DCL for myself ::MickeyMo and DW::MinnieMo . Looking forward to a great time - can't wait :hyper:

My children and I went May 03 for my 30th birthday on the Disney Wonder. However this will be my husbands first cruise and Im very excited about having our whole family there.

Well, add us to the list of first time cruisers, too! My ds(ister) cruised this past March, but this is her first Disney Cruise! We are all excited! DD can't wait to see the "Mickey Boat" (and neither can I:hyper: )!

A lot of first timers in here... that makes it all the more exiciting for me, being excited for all of you....

My first cruise was a 4-night on RCCL's Soverign of the Seas...

we did her again in Nov 01 a 3-night, cuz it was cheap and took my aunt (her first)

We have done Carnival's Fascination (00) 7-night southern out of San Juan, and Carnival's Inspiration 7-night Western out of Tampa (just back in Dec, took another couple, it was the husband's first cruise)

in 02 we did Princess's Pacific Princes (the orginal one, the one from the 'love boat' tv show) to Bermuda 7-night out of New York...

and before papa died (dad's dad) we did their first cruise (him and grandma) that he wanted, Alaska... out of Vancouver to Seward... 7-night, on HAL's Statendam (HAL is BORING.. shows good, but entertainment, like clubs, and music.. THERE IS NONE)

that was in May of 99. I believe.

BUT this is our first DISNEY cruise... looking forward to all the differences... and of course all that goes w/ the name... ;)

Our family will be cruising for the first time. This will be Grandma's second cruise (she went on a short cruise to Mexico; she lives near Los Angeles, CA). Hooray to those who received their final docs-we're still waiting. I'll let you all know when we get ours! :earseek:

Does any one know what the best things to do in Nassau are for families? We're thinking of bike riding or the Sting Ray enounter.

AAAAH!! Still no documents. So I called Disney. They said they sent them to my TA, Travelocity, last Wednesday. I called them and they said they should arrive to them today and won't be sent to me until probably Friday. I don't want to wait!!!! But I guess I'll have to. Oh well. As long as I get them.
Hopefully Frances will miss land and head back out to sea, quickly so we will have smooth sailing.

Krystina'smommy- just some advice about snorkeling in CC. If you have a snorkel kit or buy one at Walmart you can use that and it is much cheapier.

:jumping1:

Ok, so I went to Walmart today, but didn't find the snorkel kits. Were they in sporting goods? I asked the sporting goods guy & he said they didn't have any. I did find the childrens snorkel kit (just the snorkel & mask) in the clearance aisle, so I bought one for DD (though I think she's too young). Also, beach towels were 1/2 price, so I bought 2 Mickey beach towels (they didn't have Minnie:( ). Completely forgot to look for the Bonine, too! Well, it's not like I don't go there often enough, anyway, I'll just look next time.
They also had the small collapsable cooler (says it holds a 12 pack) on clearance (3.75) so I picked up one of those to take the sandwiches I plan to order from room service for our day out in Nassau. I think that's about it. As always, I went in for milk & such & came out with MUCH more!:p

Still counting down the days!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

When I got our snorkel kits they were in with all the beach toys and floats. But I got them about a month ago.

Guess our local Walmart ran out of the adult kits. I forgot I also found a couple of floats in the clearance aisle for $1, so I picked up a couple of those, too. They also had their sand toys there. Oh well, guess we'll have to rent the equipment if we decide to snorkel.

Has anyone else been keeping up with the hurricane situation? I'm afraid it doesn't look good for this weekends cruisers. Probably a change in port, but I'm sure some cruisers won't even be able to make it in.

We've read the great information in the posts on using Bonine for motion sickness, but any good advice for the kids? Does anyone know if the kids usually have a problem, and if so, any recommendations?

We don't want the little DS (6 & 7) becoming green. :crazy2:

Thanks,

I have not been keeping up with hurricane forecasts. I just dont want to know or I will worry, KWIM?
I think we will just rent our snorkel equipment on CC, and if we decdie to do a snorkeling excursion in Nassau, I should hope they will provide it.

Thanks,
I remember reading another thread a couple of months back where the pediatrician recommended benadryl for motion sickness in kids. Don't know why, but something about one of the ingredients. I've never given my DD benadryl, but doesn't it make them drowsy? You might want to try doing a search on earlier threads for more detailed info.:wave2:

"Does anyone know if the kids usually have a problem, and if so, any recommendations?"

We were recommended Benadryl by our pediatrician. It makes my kids sleepy. If it makes your kids not drowsy bring it.

BTW- :hyper: WE'RE DOING THE DOC DANCE! :hyper: Now that the final package arrived we're getting more excited! I can't wait to meet you DISers out there! :thewave:

No docs yet! Just called my TA and she said to expect them any day now.

I too am a little worried about the weather and also not trying to think about it. My only concern is that I was going to call Comfort Inn today to book a room on the 20th so we can enjoy Atlantis for the day. Am a little hesitant to do so now just in case our excursion dates/places change due to the weather. Any thoughts on this?

Also, regarding kids and motion sickness. My DS(8) gets motion sickness and in the past those "seaband" wristbands have worked great, for land that is, hope they work at sea.

We'll see everyone real soon!:earsgirl:

Since this is our first cruise (and meet!) how do we all go about getting together?
Do we have a secret handshake???

That's a good question. How will we recognize each other? I'd really like to meet everyone that I've been talking to. Veterans, how do we meet? Do we set up a time and place for the first day or what?

At our Walmart they are in the sporting goods section for adults. You could try a sporting goods store. I know our walmart still had lots left. So if you have time stop when you get down here. Also if you can pick up a cheap dollar float that is cheapier than the $6.00 rental one and afterwards you can just toss it.
