Sept 19th,2004 revisited.....

I am to nervous about our passports coming back in time. We both got so caught up in our wedding that neither of us noticed that both our passports expired. I sent them out this morning with a prayer. Once I have those I will be ready to cruise!!!!!! I can't believe it's so close!!!!!!:Pinkbounc

We'll probably be the oldest. I'm 43 and my DH will turn 52 while on the ship. I like the idea of us all getting together.
ericamanda - if you are US citizens don't worry about the passports. All you need are picture state issued IDs and certified birth certificates, the kind with the raised seals. If you need, I can give you the website to order them and get them fast if you are not close to where you were born.

Congratulations on your recent wedding! Am I correct in assuming your name is Amanda also? I am getting a wee bit excited! Anyone else? LOL I still do not know what excursions to do. I guess we will decide on board.

Ok, so is anyone else worried about the weather when our turn comes? I know there is nothing we can DO, but I still can't help but worry. I did just purchase travel insurance thru Access America, so I feel a little better should something happen. But I can't stand the thought of not being able to make our cruise after all the waiting & planning.

As far as excursions, I think we have finally settled on the Historic Tour in Nassua & maybe snorkeling at CC. Anyone else?

I wouldn't worry, we will cruise, we may not be cruising to the same places if we have a hurricane or tropical storm, but cruises go on.... they just divert...

I.E. in Nov 2001, instead if RCCL's private Island, we went to freeport...

I have antcipated possible 'waves' due to 'bad weather' and gotten a package of Bonine (it doesn't make you sleeply like Draminine)

On our first cruise, the first day (same iternary, except we went to key west instead of sea day) I got 'sick' took dramine, was sleeply, and missed all the 'fun'... patches don't work either, a friend tried them... Bonine is great, and less than 3 dollars at wal-mart....

I got sick in Alaska too, and then in 02, Oct, we went to Bermuda, while Hurricane Kyle was 'circling' no rain except last day there, and other than 20 ft waves 'coming' in to Bermuda, we were ok (I had anticipated this, and me and mom got Bonine, started taking it two days before sailing, took entire time, and was ok... lots of people who had patches or nothing got VERY sick the last day coming into Bermuda...)

I always say, sea sickness is NOT determined by if you can ride in a boat on a lake, it's the body of water, how long your on it, and weather that determine that...

My advice... make the 'small' investment, get the Bonine, take in the day we leave (a few hours before we sail) and see how you are

(for all the new ones) The Atlantic CAN be a bit rough (especially to Honeymooners, the last thing you want is to get sick.... :) )

You should be ok the rest of the days, but on the last 'sea' day, you may again want to take one as that is when you are 'again' likely to get sick....

Check the weather, if Tropical storms and/or Hurricanes are in the vancitity, no matter how far, get more Bonine enough to take everyday...

20 ft waves are pretty bad, but if you got the medicine, you'll be fine (other than walking like your drunk, you won't feel it...)

sea sick stays untill you take medicine (a green apple helps too, a crew memeber told me this once), you throw up, and won't feel better, so don't count on that... like I said, Bonine WON'T make you sleeply, so you won't 'miss' anything...

Hope that helps...

any other questions, feel free to e-mail or pm me.

Meg

Thanks for the info on bonine. I wanted to get something just in case. We've never been on a ship so I'd rather be safe than sorry.
3 weeks from tomorrow we set sail!! yay!!!!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :hyper:

NAh I am not worried about it. Our 1st cruise was when Hurrican George was going on. I was worried then. I just knew our cruise was going to get canceled! I then learned that what aeryncrichton said was true. We can sail around, behind or in front of it. As long as you can get to the port it shouk be no problem. You are getting in at least a day b4 right?
I wish I could find someone to keep my kids on Friday night as well, Then we could leave on Friday and spend Saturday park hopping!

Well, I'm not worried about the cruise getting cancelled, I'm worried about not making into Orlando! We fly from McAllen into Houston, then on to Orlando. Yes, we do fly in the day before so I guess we've got some time, unlike those who fly in at the last minute. Thanks for reassuring this cruise newbie!:wave2:

Exactly 3 weeks from right now we should be in Houston waiting for take-off to Orlando! Yeah!!!!!!!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

We are driving, but orginaly were going to drive down Fri, but now I think Sat... cuz Dad is all excited (I showed him this board...) and We are definately leaning towards booking a room at Comfort Inn Paradise Island, and doing all of Atlantis....

so... we will be down early, and I keep watching the weather channel, seeing what's going on....

Looks ok, for now. I imagine Frances will be gone in 3 weeks time.

Today when we got home from the beach and checked the mail we got a big suprise. Our tickets have arrived.
Krystina'smommy- just some advice about snorkeling in CC. If you have a snorkel kit or buy one at Walmart you can use that and it is much cheapier.

:jumping1:

I bought our snorkel kits at walmart. They were about $10 each, I think. Much cheaper then renting at CC, and I get to keep them and use them next time.
I'm jealous. I want my docs too!! :hyper:

Kidless...well just for this trip:) celebrating our 20th!
:earsboy: 49 :earsgirl: 44
travel docs...arrived yesterday
bonine...ready!
meet fellow cruisers...:chat: sounds fun!

:hyper: because this is our first cruise!

WOW That makes 4 kidless couples! I know I for one am looking forward to it!

Congrats on doing the docs dance! Can't wait til it's my turn!

Thanks for the info about the snorkel kits. I didn't even think to look for any at Walmart, but I guess I've have to check them out next time I'm there.

j&j'smom - Yeah on your docs arriving!!! I know I was thrilled the day ours came!!!

dodle - I bought myself & DS(3) each a snorkel set at Walmart. I'm the definite swimmer between my DH & I and since my other DS is only 1.5 he won't be snorkeling, DS(3) just wants to be like mommy LOL

Hurricanes - Hurricane or No hurricane I'm excited, and won't be disappointed regardless what happens... OK OK if the cruise is canceled then I'll be upset. The idea of a 'mystery' cruise excites me LOL!

Packing - I've already gotten things put aside, and organized!! LOL I'm just ready to put it all in the suitcases and GO! :p

No Fair :(

I want my docs....

LOL.... the suspense is killing me....

Anyone have the number for Disney? We need to call in like a week to find out what movies are playing...

I personally havn't seen King Arthur, so I hope it's playing still...

and I'd like to see Princes Daries 2 again...

Are we setting up a time and place to meet????

It would be funny if some of us, end up 'table' mates ya know???

That happened on our Princess to Bermuda cruise, this couple that had a daughter same color hair as me (she didn't go w/ them, and she was a few years older than me) I meet at the Cruise addicts board, and e-mailed, they were next door to my parents (me anf grandma had a seperate cabin) and they ended up our dinner mates... it was great...

Well, my parents have me, but I'm not a 'kid', I'm 20 and grown, so... I go off on my own and stuff, so I don't think I count... ;)

LOL... 3 weeks for today we set sail...

I would love to get that website info. I have my birth certificate but i'm not so sure where DH's is. Thank you.

That makes 4 kidless couples. We'll have to do somthing together. I think that all of us DISers meeting is a great idea. I'd really to be able to put faces with the names.Being on this board has made the trip even more exciting than ever.
That website for the birth certificates is www.usbirthcertificate.net/travel They also have a phone number. It is 888-736-2693. Hope this helps.

ericamanda01, I just noticed you are from Portland! I lived in Oregon (Hillsboro) most of my life. We just recently moved to Louisiana.
Looking forward to a meet with all of you! Are you all veteran cruisers or is anyone going for the first time like us??

This will be the first cruise for my DH and I. We will be kidless for this cruise, and they will join us on the next one.
3 weeks from today we will be enjoying the sunshine (hopefully) and waiting to set sail!!!:Pinkbounc :hyper:
