Pam, you got to set aside some time for Williamsburg! you won't be sorry! I wish I could live there.

OMG! Got to fly - the JR royal highness will be left waiting out in the cold - per say as it has been hot the last couple of days. Today was only 87 compared to yesterday's 92 but since its winter - it doesn't feel like a 92 degree summer day. Still, I'm sitting here in a sleeveless shirt and capri pants. Doesn't Mother Nature know that its almost winter? I want some cold.

I am gonna do my best to get to VA early on Saturday and do some sightseeing. You never did get to Williamsburg back in June did you??

I am sure there are plenty of us in other parts of the US that would send you some cold if we could. It has been in the low 30s at night here and only got up to 55 today.....Am I really in the South?? :rotfl:

Tell the family HI and take care!

Hi Joanne

The fires were at their worst on Saturday and Sunday. The ash on the ground is horrible but what can you do. Our office was never in danger thank goodness and all seems to be well for now. However, I have noticed that many people are coughing and sounding a bit hoarse so I think it has gotten to all of them. I, myself, am either coming down with Bronchitis or the ash has gotten to me. My oldest DD (she has asthma) seems to be doing ok but she was smart enough to stay indoors all weekend.

Thank you to all that sent a prayer out our way - it was really needed.

Got to go and pick up DD at her soccer practice. It was cancelled yesterday due to the air quality but I guess it wasn't today so things are much better. Had an acquaintance that had some minor damage to her house but she is counting herself lucky as she lives with her elderly parents. Not too much more cosmetic which is something that she can live with.

OK folks, take care, Cpt Jack - hows the weather up there? DH, the girls and I are considering taking a small run up there this weekend. I've been bitten by the antsy bug and DH wants to enter some poker tournaments as he's been on a bit of a run lately. My bank account is a bit heftier now so its burning a hole in my pocket. Time to go shopping :woohoo:

I'm glad to see that the fires are slowing down a bit. I hope that trend continues. Oh, and you can have some of our cold if you'd like;)

Dave's job is almost a certainty now:woohoo: They DO want him (and Dave has had enough discussions with them about money that we feel they will be fair. Oh my gosh I have so much to do:eek:

That is wonderful news Hadley! I will be keeping you all in my thoughts for some great news in the next couple days:goodvibes

Guess what? It finally snowed today! Well...not snowed as much as flurried, but it was really nice! I love snow!!!! :)

Amy come to MN we have lots of snow here. I was so sad the first day we had snow a few weeks ago. I love a month or two of winter, but by mid Feb I'm so ready for it to be over.

Just a quick shout out. Things are still in a bit of turmoil here...Kel has sent out about 100 resumes...no bites yet. She will probably not hear anything until after the holidays. On the up side, we got an offer from the insurance company....for about half of what we are owed (but this is progress.)

We had snow here this morning...enough for snowballs but not a snowman...DD was excited to wear her new boots to school (making sure to walk on the grass in the snow.) We got our wood for winter delivered yesterday...my back is a bit tight, but I am warm and cozy.

I hope everyone is well and best wishes and pixie dust to all who are struggling.:wizard:

I got a Barcelona book from the library and dug out my old high school Spanish books. We should definitely set up a meet for those of use arriving a day or 2 early.

Sending PD that Kel hears something soon :wizard: :wizard:

Jewel, I missed your post earlier. I sure hope things turn around for Kellie soon. I know it is so stressful looking and looking and having nothing turn up:hug:

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Williamsburg is definitely on my list of places to visit.

Anna

I love Williamsburg! I've been there 3 times, once as a girl scout, once back in 1994 and again in 2000. It is definately on our short list of places to go back to again - we'e seriously considering going back next year, it's just a matter of picking the right time of year.

That sounds so wonderful! Right now I am freezing. I know I am not as cold as some of you, but living in Arizona for years has really thinned my blood. I don't even think I have clothes warm enough for what Florida has right now. Woke up and in the high 30's! You have to admit, that is very unusual! I dread going outside even though it is sunny. Yes, I am a whimp. Hope everyone is doing well and the fires are under control. Anybody have exciting plans for Thanksgiving?

We were in Orlando last two Novembers and it was so hot. What you have at the moment seems like real freak weather.

I heard we were getting a cold front from the North. Just last week we were in shorts and T-shirts, it was hot! Amazing. I am enjoying it more now that I put on a huge sweater, hot tea and actually turned the heat on!!!!!!

Uh Oh Karen! You have to be careful around here with the blanket invites! YOu just never know who pops up! :lmao: As for me, I love the idea of Christmas in Colonial Williamsburg. I visited back in 2001 also and I loved it. Always wanted to go back as 6 hrs is not enough for a slowpoke like me. Pictures, post pictures of the Christmas Season - that might entice more

As for me, went to the doctors as I woke up with a little green phlegm. Turns out I am in the beginning stages of bronchitis but she thinks I caught it early. Started my Z-pack today and I should be done by Sunday. This might put a crimper in my plans. Dh wanted to stay at the Bellagio but -ladies - get this - he's starting to think like me - the stay at the Bellagio would have cost around $1000 for 4 of us - apparently they charge for extra people in the room. So, DH made the calculations, he said he could call his contact and try for a free room because he knows that $1000 is A LOT of shopping for 3 girls especially since Christmas is coming! :headache:

But at least he knew better than to spend it. Now, :scratchin free/reduced room or the convenience of staying at the hotel that holds the tournament - if you ask me - its free room hands down! ;) (More shopping time for us!)

Gosh its quiet around here today.
Just thought I would say hello.:goodvibes

Its cold but dry here today. I am going to meet Angie (Mrs. Mork)and her DH on saturday:cool1: We are so glad it is suppose to be a descent day on saturday. I am very excited to meet her before the cruise.

Enjoy your evening everyone,

Kathy

You will LOVE Angie & Dennis! :grouphug: They are about some of the nicest people on the PLANET! ::yes::

I'm walking the plank, cap'n. pirate:

Not a big fan of looting and pillaging, me'self, but I think y'all do a mighty fine job of having fun with the dress up. I am impressed by everyone's creative abilitites. Just don't do any pirate damage to me other than keel-haulin' and plank walkin', please :worship:

I really like the rotating three-cruise logo - that is a right fun touch. (Mixing in Southern speak to go with the pirate lingo...)

That sounds so wonderful! Right now I am freezing. I know I am not as cold as some of you, but living in Arizona for years has really thinned my blood.

I lived for two years in Arizona - know exactly what you're talking about. Took a trip to Vegas one December, everyone else was walking around in shirt sleeves, and I was layered in a turtleneck, wool sweater, coat and gloves. Now I'm back in Alabama, where I complain about the heat (it's not a dry heat, that's for sure).

:lovestruc Having just finished a DIS-filled cruise, I know it's the friendliness and comraderie :grouphug: of fellow cruisers that really take the voyage up a notch, it must be exciting to have a continuity with your theme. I'll join in to the fun as a representative of the peaceful landlubbers who you will one day learn to love

Planning my Elizabeth Swan dress (pre-pirate) even now princess: .

:surfweb: Still have about 100 pages (in the middle of the thread) to read before I am caught up.

Also, ibouncetoo - I lived in Phoenix and loved it till it got to built up. I was by Desert Ridge.

Hey Hoagie Pie: I lived in Phoenix 2001 - 2003 and lived in Grayhawk for the first year. They were still adding stores and restaurants at Desert Ridge at the time. The second year I lived in Higley/Gilbert off Power Road. I worked was an L&D RN at Banner Desert Samaritan.

I'm from Tennessee, so I don't think we have any candy that's strictly from here, but we do have lots of Elvis stuff and Jack Daniels! :lmao:
Aren't goo-goo clusters from Chattanooga?

PS: Kept reading posts (up to page 190 now, and see the answer)
