If I dressed like the naked Barcelona guy...would I look like a tourist?![]()
I don't know, but you certainly wouldn't be pick-pocketed!

Is THAT how I am going to recognize you??The stories from mdwoodman scare me enough. Long pants and I will NOT take off my shoes, which I usually do, especially on these flights.
Val, I hope your sister with MS is doing well. I have made lemonade many times with my MS. She has a great attitude and it really does help.
I looked at the earthquake pictures and it is amazing more people were not hurt. It looked horrible.
I think we are all ready to just get on THE SHIP!!!!! We all come with a story that makes us unique and so glad we have each other to share 2 weeks with.
Just popping in to say hi.
We made it Emiel and Yvette's without any problems. The flight was smooth, the food not so much.
After a day of taking it easy to get onto the new schedule they took us for a 3 hour tour. They surprised us with a trip to little town in Germany where Dreams are made, well the Disney Dream that is. Seeing the ship as it is coming together was impressive. Even though we couldn't understand anything that was said, as the whole tour was in German, we still took it all in.
It just makes us more excited to be on the Magic with everyone. We'll see you all in just a few more days.
I hope I haven't missed much on the thread, but I can't go back a read all the posts now. Maybe Lyn can give me the Readers Digest version in a few days.
Until next time, safe journeys to everyone.
Jon

Sorry, I didn't mean to scare anybody. Flying is very safe (especially commercial flying); I just like to be prepared. Plus, as someone else mentioned, those aircraft cabins sometimes get very cold.
And if they try to pick-pocket you while you're naked, you might actually like it. ; )
We will arrive the 12th and considering seeing Madrid before going to Barcelona. We really don't have a time schedule, just need to be in Barcelona to board. Would it be better to just go directly to Barcelona and sightsee or try to catch sights in both places?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

How are you getting from Madrid to Barcelona?
I highly recommend spending your first 3-4 days in Madrid and using it as a base of operations. You can catch trains from Madrid to see some of the best sights in Spain.
Madrid:
Plaza Mayor - tapas y cervezas; people watching and relaxing in the middle of history
El Prado - incredible art museum
Botin - the world's oldest restaurant; it's just off Plaza Mayor
Royal Palace - a must see if you spend a day in Madrid
Flamenco - it's the real deal here; dinner shows are relatively inexpensive. It's not native to Barcelona - they only do it in Barcelona because the tourists expect it as part of their visit to Spain.
Extending out from Madrid via train:
Toledo - probably my favorite city in the world, plus it's in La Mancha, which has some of the very best (and inexpensive!) red wines - even better than Rioja IMHO; sights to see include the cathedral, el Alcázar (inlcuding the Museo del Ejercito, or Army Museum), Casa de "El Greco," and just walking around seeing all the churches, synagogues, mosques, and shopping. (I always wanted to bring home a suit of Toledo armor, but it wouldn't fit in my suitcase)
Segovia - one of my other favorite cities; Roman aquaduct, Alcazar, cathedral, city wall, and one of the most famous restaurants in Spain, Mesón Cándido. They are located right next to (almost under) the Roman aquaduct and make absolutely the most phenomenal roast suckling pig. My mouth is watering just thinking back on it!
Avila - just to see the city wall and walk around the old town
Sevilla - if you're really adventurous hop on the AVE on spend a day here
If any of this sounds interesting to you, let me know and I can provide more details.
Don't worry, I scare easily! LOL!!!!
I'm the person on the plane when the flight attendents are going over the safety procedures who is 110% paying attention...then I start to cry because of take off. Might I add that is even with Xanex! LOL
I have almost finished packing!!!![]()
What is everyone wearing while doing tours of Barcelona? We are arriving on Friday and going directly to a city tour then to the hotel and to HRC for the meet. I dont know if I shoud wear jeans or capris/shortsI dont want to stand out to badly as a target for pickpocketing but also want to be comfy. I will also be watching the weather as we get closer to see how warm it will be.
What are your plans of what to wear around town?
Call me paranoid, but as a retired pilot I would NEVER wear shorts on a plane. I've seen way too many situations that, had things gone just a little bit the wrong way, I would want every bit of protection that clothing over my bare skin would provide.
Also, in over two dozen trips to Spain, I have never seen a Spaniard man wear shorts in public (other than on holidays). Bare legs = tourist! (and target!)
DLP is a shadow of the real thing, but is great to go to in between trips to the US or if you haven't been!!!! The main park is lovely, but the CM's were a miserable bunch when we were there a few years ago! Hopefully they will have cheered up by now. For us, we wouldn't go back unless we happened to be staying close by.
Beware of smoking, and pushing in line!!!
I figure if something happens over the ocean. it really won't matter what I wear!
And I agree....Spanish men don't wear shorts...in fact, I have only noticed English men wearing shorts the last few years (in England I mean, In WDW.....anything goes!)
I convinced my husband to wear long pants on all excursions, but he'[ll be in his shorts on the ship and in the Carribbean!![]()
What about the DH's?Shorts, jeans or casual pants?
