Hello everyone -

I was last on Page 111, so if there's anything between when Gizmo Sarah published the nearly final mini-navigator and now, I've missed it. So if there was anything specifically addressed to me, please PM me. I do know I have some hotel and flight updates to make, so I'll try to get to those this weekend.

The last six days have been a whirlwind and haze. One of my friends, Becky, for the past 27 years was told last week she had two days to live. They found she had pancreatic cancer after they believed she just had a kidney stone. She had better predictions a few days before that, to the point that she would go home and start chemo that would prolong her life for about a year. Not sure if she had really even decided to move forward on that plan or not. Everything just changed SO fast. I'm thankful that three other friends and I got to be with her all of her last day on Earth on Saturday. So for those who believe, please pray for her mom who's now lost her soul mate and her first born. They are an extremely close family, and anywhere you saw Becky, her mom was with her. Parents just shouldn't have to watch their children come in and out of the world. I'm getting ready to head back to my hometown for calling hours tonight and her funeral tomorrow, so her family really needs some extra strength in the next 24 hours and beyond.

Then....I have to get back home for Lisa's memorial on Thursday. She's the one who I told you drowned in the Atlantic on August 15. I highly encourage all of you to "Like" the group "Shea It Forward" (like pay-it-forward) on Facebook in honor of her. Share random acts of kindness that you've given out or received. It's so enriching to see how wonderfully selfless people can be.

I hope everyone's pre-boarding plans are being executed and everyone's really excited. I have to admit that I've had a hard time with my checklist nor desire to read the boards, but thankfully I had a huge jump start on my packing. See...things happen for a reason.

My mom is going to come down and stay with me Friday. We're going to finally go see the Titanic exhibit at COSI here in Columbus. Its exhibit is over here on Monday, so we had to get it in this week since we failed to do it earlier. Despite the timing, I'm looking forward to seeing it. I was so disappointed when it was here last time and I missed it. This time, they have artifacts that haven't ever been displayed to the public before, so I guess it will be even better.

On Thursday night or Friday, I'll try to get back on and stick with you all until we begin our adventure! I really can't wait to be with all of you. Many of you have been soooo supportive to me on Facebook (you know who you are!), and I really really appreciate it. I know sometimes people just don't have the words to say, and I assure you I feel you thinking of me, too.

To all of our B2Bers who are about to leave, have safe travels and a WONDERFUL time on your Med cruise! I can't wait to hear all about it!

Love you all!
Kimberly

Kimberley, I read your posts on Facebook, so it is 'good' to read the full story. How very traumatic and sad for her family, and for you her friend. It was lovely you could be with her and I am sure it was heartbreaking, but a beautiful thing to do. I will be thinking and praying for her mom and the rest of the family. This is a hard time for them. It sounds like you have some wonderful memories of this very special person.

She is so helpful, isn't she? I think there is no other thread with a better welcome wagon! :goodvibes
Thank you for the nice compliment!! I am very flattered!!

Welcome aboard!! I speak a little Spanish and would love the opportunity to practice with you and your family. Please tell us about Barcelona. I am sure we are all interested in your knowledge of the city.

Kimberley, both John and my thoughts and prayers go out to both Becky's and Lisa's families. I know how hard it is to loose a love one in the prime of their life.

I am so glad you were able to be with Becky on her last day. What I am sure of is you will treasure that memory forever.

Recently I read a great essay called Life is a Journey . I made it a hot linkfor anyone who wants to read the whole article. I passed it along to another DISer who lost her spouse.

Here is the first paragraph in red:

Over the years, I have discovered life is a journey, a pilgrimage, a sacred adventure. Within everyone’s inner solitude, there is that bright and warm hearth where the spirit dwells waiting to be roused. There are many paths to enlightenment, their teachings rich and varied offering wisdom and “food for thought” and everything we need for our journey to awakening lies within us. In the beginning, spirituality appears like the bud on a bloom, opening gradually, tempting us with a glimpse of its splendor and unfathomable depths. It is here we create the blueprint of our collective existence.

Gotcha , customs is pretty fast , or at least it was the last time I was in Barcelona ...I think we were off the plane and at our hotel in about 30 minutes from landing ..(honestly it was fast)

We are staying at the Pratik Barcelona ...we get in around 7:50 pm Tuesday night , so hopefully we will be strolling the Rambla around 9ish ...we wont get to see much of Barcelona before we get on the ship but we may get off when we return and do the Go Cars (GPS guided tour cars) http://www.gocartours.es/ did this in San Francisco and its a great way to tour a city ...

If your out an about Tuesday night we may see you guys

pirate:

I'm going to try to get to the port around 10am, drop the bags, then head over to the Go Cars

We are coming from Valencia. When I was a girl I studied in an Irish school, but though I understand the English written languaje, the spoken is very difficult for me. Of all forms, my family and I are very happy of joining to this group (though we do not know very well what it means).

We are doing a bit of both. Wearing pirate t-shirts with pirate accessories. My hubby does have a Jack Sparrow costume. But hated the hat well hated the whole out fit cause it was too hot and itchy. My husband is really a princess in disguise. Cause he can not sleep it there is one crumb on the bed :rotfl:

:

If my DH see's this he won't be happy - but - I call him my princess and the pea husband. If the sheet has a crinkle or the blanket is to tightly tucked in he can't sleep. I say it is because when we were growing up little boys were allowed , and it was expected, that they wouldn't sit still. Even the nuns let the little boys fuss in church where the girls would get rapped on the head for not sitting still. Then there is the panty hose and spanks. We were taught to put up with the discomfort for beauty. val

What the DIS boards do is give Disney Cruise Line new and old cruisers a place to allow us to get to know each other and make plans together before the cruise.

I do a welcome post which I will do for you now. Since I don't have your name, I will just say Bienvenidos!!

I think you are doing an excellent job writing in English. Please tell us more about yourself and your family.

Bienvenidos!!
We are Noel and John Birkner from Woodside, California. I am 59 (cincuenta y nueve) and John is 66 (sesenta y seis). This is our 4th DCL cruise but we have cruised many times on other cruise lines.

When your post number reaches 10, you may want to send some of the PM's (Private Messages) about the subjects I have mentioned below.

Other DIS members I am sure will answer more of your questions, so let me give you some general information about our cruise thread.

Be sure you read page one for all the exciting things that are happening on this cruise. Here is a partial list.

1. You may want to send a PM (Private Message)DisneyVegas1 to see if there are any cruise shirts left. Here is the Link to what the the shirts look like. Last post I believe there was 1 AS. If that size don't work for you, you can print a copy of the logo from the transatlantic pirates site and make an iron on tee shirt

2. PM Buckeye Gal with your hotel and flight information, see post #9

3. Decide if you want Mickey Mouse shirts which some of us are wearing to dinner of Sept 28 and if you want to join us to order them or make you own, see post #1

4. If you want to link your dining reservations with fellow DIS board members, PM (Private Message) Angie (Mrs. Mork) if you are early dining or PM (Private Message) Sarah (Totally Angelic) if you are late dining.

5. Sign up on the roll call and send your pictures via email to the our cruise website at Transatlantic Pirateswebsite.

Once registered you can add in the activities you are interested in that are OPEN - so the HRC meet, as well as any excursions that you are taking. All of the DCL excursions are pre loaded into the system, so it is easy!

Post a question or PM (Private Message) to either Sue (su_kraft) or Glenn (Buckeye Goofy) if you have questions!!

6. PM (Private Message) Connie (Con5421) if you would like to purchase a lanyard pin. see post #6.

7. Let Michael (mdwoodman)by PM (Private Message) know if you can join the HRC pre cruise meet on 17 September @ 1700. See Post 15.

8. If you are interested in seeing if there are any wrist bands left, you should PM (Private Message) Krisann (KrisannB). See post #21 for details.

If you cannot send her a PM, please email her at akblair@charter.net

9. PM (Private Message) Sarah (Gismo1554) if you have any special occasions or birthdays that you are celebrating on board so she can put in our personal cruise Navigator.

Hope that gives you a good place to start. Any more questions, please do not hesitate to ask us and we will do our best to answer them for you before the cruise.

Noel

Kimberly, My thoughts and good wishes are with you. I lost my mom in 4 days from pancreatic cancer about a year ago too. It is devastating. I was with her when the Drs told her she only had days. Your ability to be with her in the end will always be with you and, I believe, her. Val

Sandi just called me with WONDERFUL NEWS. Her tests today showed everything is good. :yay::yay::yay::yay: We are going to have a great cruise.
