Wow, I am so impressed by the level of organization and effort everyone has put into this disboard/cruise.
Welcome to everyone new. This is going to be an awesome cruise.
I will be power walking the Disneyland 5K and 1/2 marathon this Saturday and Sunday. I'll pack and weigh my luggage at least 10 times on Monday and my flight leaves Tuesday. I am so excited.
Amy

Wow Amy you are adventurous there! Good luck with the 5k and 1/2 marathon!

Just 2 weeks today and we will be hurtling(I hope) down the M1 to Heathrow Airport ready for our flight to Barcelona!!

I just read on the main board that Brent isn't on the Magic right now. He's apparently taking some time off. Will be back for a short while in December and then on the Dream for a couple of months before becoming DCL Entertainment Director in Celebration. :sad2::sad:

:cutie:

That does not sound good. If he is not on the ship during the Transatlantic, then I hope we will get Clayton and not Peter. Two weeks of Peter is really more than I can bear.

This is the post from the main board. It says Brent will be returning to the Magic soon. Who knows what that means?

Brent update
Hi everyone -

We just got off the Magic what a wonderful trip it was!!! Brent was missing and he sure was missed. Peter just wasn't the same... Anyway, on our last morning, we got to talking to Yolande and asked her what the true story with Brent was, as we kept getting different stories. We figured if anyone knew the truth it was her!!!! ANYWAY... Brent will be returning to the Magic soon and stay on until Dec and then is off for a bit and then will be on the Dream for some of Jan and all of Feb and is then moving to be head of DCL entertainment in Celebration. It looks like Brent's Cruise Directors days are definitely numbered!!!! I'll for sure miss him, but I think in the end this will be better for him and Yolande to start a family.

Thanks for posting this. I suppose there is hope yet that Brent might be back on board in time for the Transatlantic.

Well, our flight home from Orlando was going to be PERFECT! Got to spend a good chunk of the day wandering around F&W before we headed to MCO for the flight to Mexico City.

Well, last Friday Mexicana Airlines ceased operations. Yup, went bankrupt! OY!

Much scrambling this morning - as we really thought we were on AeroMexico -to grab another flight at a decent fare. We did grab AeroMexico this time. Not the best fare but not horrible either. At least it's a nonstop flight from MCO to MEX!

Finally got around to prepaying the Praktik Rambla, too! Got the Euro for $1.27US so not horrible.

Michael

I am sorry that you had to deal with this with so little time before the vacation. I am glad that you managed to get it sorted though.

Eye surgery went very well - as we knew it would!! Dennis was released an hour after surgery and we stopped by friends' house for coffee for an hour or so. Now we are home and he is napping. Thank you all for the good thoughts and prayers this morning. :grouphug:

I am glad that everything went well.

Updates on Hurricane Earl:

From Bernard at Bernard Tours on St Maarten:

as you know we got hit by hurricane earl yesterday and today, some part of the island is without power, some roof took off, but we should be back to normal in the next 24 hrs..

Bernard..

I am so out of the loop. I did not even know that there was a hurricane out there. I am glad that St Maarten was not badly affected.

Howdy all! pirate:

This will be the afternoon of one of the formal dining evenings.

Please review your plans. If you have decided that you will not be attending, please let me know so that we can keep the seats filled!

If a time conflict or anything else pops up when we are on the Magic and you won't be able to attend, please let me know. Room 7622- I will have my fish extender up for notes- or just give me a call! Thanks!

I will be sending a PM to everyone on the list, as I am not sure everyone is able to keep up with the reading! ;)

If you wanted to attend, and we had already filled the seats; you have a couple of options. I do have a waiting list with 3 names on it. I could add you to the list in case we have openings. I will try to keep the tea as filled as possible!

When we board the Magic, you could go to Rocking Bar D (I think) when we board the Magic where they are taking Palo reservations and try to book the same date and time of the Ladies Tea. (please let me know if you are able to do that. Room 7622 Kathy Allen Thanks!)

I have sent you a PM regarding the waitlist.

OK....we've created our blog page on which we intend to make regular posts during our vacation and pics...anyone who wants to track us before you join us for the WBTA can do so by visiting our blog at http://erikandjason2010.blogspot.com (I also put the link in my signature)

Thanks for posting the link. I have bookmarked it and will check it every few days. I can't wait to hear what you think about the Med cruise.

I am nearly caught up.

Jon, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sue, I wish you a belated happy birthday.

There are still 7 packages with jewellery making kits that are somewhere out there. 4 are headed to the USA and all three that were sent to Canada are still MIA. I am hoping that they may arrive today. Please let me know once you got them.

I am doing well with my to do list and I am actually slightly ahead of the game. The first two lots of Fish Extender gifts have been sorted and packed and I am well on the way with the final gift. All the ones for the DIS have been done and I am more than half way with the Cruise Critics ones as well. Of course, I just noticed that I forgot to add the cards to them so I have to open them up again and add the cards, but that should not take me long. Tomorrow, I will sort out all the Secret Mickey gifts and then I am done as far as what needs to be shipped to Barcelona. I will head out shortly to try and get a box. I am going to use DHL to ship the stuff and for their cheapest service, they will actually come and get it. I will just schedule a pick up for Friday and have it picked up from work. I am on a late again on Friday, but I can just bring it in on Thursday and leave it with one of the secretaries just in case they come to collect it on Friday morning.

I got my eBooks all sorted and the Reader is synchronizing as I type this. I got some books for the Med cruise that I never got around to reading ("World Without End" by Ken Follett, "Tea Time for the Traditionally Built" by Alexander McCall Smith, "61 Hours" by Lee Child, "Burn Marks" by Sara Paretsky, "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown and "Cruel and Unusual" and "The Body Farm" by Patricia Cornwell). Specifically for this vacation I got "9th Judgement" by James Patterson, "The Burning Wire" by Jefferey Deaver, "The Chosen One" by Sam Bourne, "The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World" by Susan Veness (for our post cruise stay), "The Ice Cream Girls" by Dorothy Koomson, "The Killing Place" by Tess Gerritsen and "The Angel's Game" and "The Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. I admit that 15 books might be a bit much even for me as some of them are quite long ones as well, but the beauty is that the Reader takes up the same room whether it contains 1 book or 50. At least this way I have something to read for whatever my mood is.

I had a bit of problem with the two Carlos Ruiz Zafon books. Even though I searched for eBooks, I somehow managed to order them as paperbacks. I only noticed this when they were not on my download list. I reordered them as eBooks and as soon as the paperbacks get here, I take them back to the book store in town. They accept returns at their stores and I got free shipping as well, so there is really nothing lost.

Right, I better get going. So much to do and so little time to do it in.

Corinna

Goodness me Corinna ... thats an incredible amount of books for 2 weeks ... it took me longer than that just to read "World without End" .. thats a looooong book! I have just bought one book and I doubt I will finish that !!!

I am an absolute bookworm. The likes of the James Patterson book or Tea Time for the Traditionally Built, I can finish in one seating. World Without End took me four or five days when it first came out. I did jury duty at the time and because of all the sitting around to see if I would be chosen, I made very short work of this one.

Just have to share...

Ya know when you are on the Magiv and you meet wonderful CM's, and you think, these people are wonderful?

Well, on our first DCL trip we met a bar server - Victor form Chile. He took very good care of our party of 17 people. We did the whole comment card about him, and sent in an additional letter that mentioned him as well. In addition we had Maricar for the Philippeans as our stateroom hostess, and did the comment cards nd letters for her as well.

They were both wonderful, and we thought of them when we booked our trip for last September. We boarded last year and someone said welcome back to us and we didn't think twice, said thank you and kept on going. Well, that was Victor! Later that day we saw Maricar who laughed and hugged the kids, commented on how much they had grown. It was like seeing family that you hadn't seen for years...

Well, this afternoon I logged into FB and noticed a chat window had opened. It was Victor telling me happy birthday. It isn't like he is trying to get a head start on a tip - he is on the Wonder! He logged on at sea and happened to notice it was my birthday and took the time to chat with me. I so wish that we would be seeing him, but he is getting off the Wonder next week and going on vacation. I completely forgot to ask if he is getting on the Dream or back on the Magic!

I'm telling you, this is why I LOVE Disney!! The people do it for me!!

Victor from Chile worked in the Promenade Lounge on our trip last September and was delightful!!! He made me some very delicious champagne cocktails to try as he knew they were my favourite. He got a special mention from us on the comment card too... Hope we see him soon - whether on the Magic or the Dream... :goodvibes

I have had a very BAD weekend - mainly because, for the first time in almost a year, my brain went MIA and I 'forgot' I can't eat wheat!!! I demolished a Big Mac and it wasn't until it was almost finished that I realised what I'd done!!! And I've paid the price... So I'm 100% focused on the STRAIGHT & NARROW from now on. I can't believe I had such a blip - I'm normally very good. Oh well. Lesson learnt...

Don't you hate that, every time I eat eggs I get so sick, but my brain refuses to hold that informations, and every few months I go and have a scoop of scrambled eggs and pay for it later. :headache: I hope your feeling better now.

Much scrambling this morning - as we really thought we were on AeroMexico -to grab another flight at a decent fare. We did grab AeroMexico this time. Not the best fare but not horrible either. At least it's a nonstop flight from MCO to MEX!
How stressful for you guys, I am so glad you got on another flight. :upsidedow

Eye surgery went very well - as we knew it would!! Dennis was released an hour after surgery and we stopped by friends' house for coffee for an hour or so. Now we are home and he is napping. Thank you all for the good thoughts and prayers this morning.

Fantastic news, So glad he is doing well. :flower3:

I'm going to do a trial run packing this week to make sure it all fits. I have taken all the suggestions I found here and on passporter's and bought EVERYTHING...well almost. I think my DH is getting dizzy from shaking his head.
Sounds like my husband, I'm suprised his eyes haven't fallen out from all the eye rolls I get! :sad2:

And THAT is a good reminder to everyone to PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK THE LANYARD LIST

....WE PACKED!!

......oh....and it's 2:55pm EST on Monday here.....exactly 3 days and 5 minutes from now I will be getting in my car and heading to the airport to catch our flight to begin our vacation!!

Lanyard list is perfect, You guys are legends! :flower3:
Packed, YAY!!!! Big relief, I bet!
Oh, stop boasting, you lucky back to backer! :dance3:

My hubby is working late tonight so I'm just hanging out at my parent's house for now. Sadly, I'm still really tired from being sick and I may have to work tonight. I need the hours, but just not tonight! LOL!

I hope your feeling well again soon, I think you were going to the endocrinologist last week, did he change your meds? It may be making you feel tired and different aswell? Just a thought????

Ya know when you are on the Magiv and you meet wonderful CM's, and you think, these people are wonderful?
I'm telling you, this is why I LOVE Disney!! The people do it for me!!

Love hearing your stories, gets me so excited! :goodvibes

I'm stalking you! :surfweb::rotfl::surfweb:

OT and funny story from yesterday... gotta love kids.
Sitting at church yesterday and 2 rows in front of us sat a young familywith 2 kids. The little boy was about 4 or 5 and the baby girl was about 1.
The little boy was fussing with a toy and making comments like" it's not right, here this is better". A few seconds later he stood his Mr. Potatohead on the banister going up to the pulpit. In view of everyone! :goodvibes He looked at it and started fussing again... Mr Potatohead #2 showed up!:rotfl2:

Again he sat down for a few seconds and took Mr. P #1 down and fixed him, putting 3 arms on him and a hat.:rotfl: By now Howard and I are almost in tears watching this show. Mr. P #2 came down and was adjusted with 2 ears where the eyes should go and a leg for a mouth.:lmao:

I couldnt watch any more ... I was starting to giggle and now tears are running down my face. This continues for the last 5 minutes of services, and before leaving, he told his mom that his friends were not done yet.
I have to admitt... that was the most entering church service I've been too in a long time.popcorn:: What a great day!

Annie, that is priceless, We love our Mr PH, he comes out quite often and we always get new bits every trip to Disney! :thumbsup2

:rotfl: I'm debating whether to bring the pirate outfits, or just wear our Pirate t-shirts and a bandana that matches Paul's. ;)

We will be in Pirate T-Shirts - I know we have a luggage issue already

Is the Disney rewards card a card were you get points on for things you spend whit Disney?

The Disney Rewards card comes from the Disney Visa - $1 for every $100 you spend on the card

The credit card is offered by Chase Bank with no annual fee - high interest rates but if you pay off every month it is a good deal. I think the points can accumulate for up to 5 years. You also get a discount with the Disney Store online when you use it for purchases. HTH

Morning all. Quick question, has anyone had a random refund from DCL? I've had around £10 credited back to my credit card on the 28th Aug for no apparent reason? Anyone hazzard a guess why?

We got a $13.80 credit. I have read on the main board that OP have gotten credit due to changes in port taxes. More drink of the day money :thumbsup2

Hey Todd (& anyone else who is curious)----

You asked yesterday where we were staying in Barcelona and I couldn't remember off the top of my head but I looked at our paperwork today to verify (we booked our air and pre-cruise hotel through DCL). We are at the "Hilton Diagonal Mar" in Barcelona. (Our TA told us this is one of the nicer resorts that DCL was using to put up folks---it is not where we had originally booked as we really only wanted a convenient bed so we went with one of the cheaper options...but several months ago when the prices for the Med cruise dropped so dramatically and many of us rebooked and got back large refunds we did so and it actually switched/upgraded us to this resort----so that was our pixie dust, I guess! ;)) We arrive at 9am hope to be at the hotel by noon or 1 at the latest (no idea what to expect from baggage and customs, etc.).....Honestly I'm not entirely sure where in Barcelona it is. Jason is/was doing all that research. I do know that we had hoped to spend the day doing a HOHO bus tour, maybe Park Guell, strolling las Ramblas and then magic fountain at night----but we heard from friends the fountain doesn't "perform" on Tuesdays :sad1:----we we'll have to figure out what we'll do instead.

Don't you hate that, every time I eat eggs I get so sick, but my brain refuses to hold that informations, and every few months I go and have a scoop of scrambled eggs and pay for it later. :headache: I hope your feeling better now.

My mother was allergic to eggs. She used to get bad stomach pains. she couldn't have the flu jabs either because they are cultivated on eggs.

Erik, the lanyard list looks fine for me. Thank you so much for doing this. Can't wait. I'm following your blog....:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Thank you Terry for posting the insurance link!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I am so up for tea. I don't care what is happening after! :cool1:

I am having serious problems with the darn pirate costume. And then I saw someone said they were wearing their t-shirt!:idea::idea: Yay!! I'm hereby done! :goodvibes:goodvibes:banana:

I have my gown for formal night, my outfit for villian night, my pink for champagne day, my tiara, the materials for my f.e's and all of the kids f.e. are done. I have my drugs for the medicine chest, my packsafe, my cameras and tripod, several cards (enough for 30,000 pictures, I really think enough) I have blank dvds. I have 18 days worth of mentionables, 3 swimsuits, coverups, socks, Crocs, sandals, sun tan lotion and sun screen lotion, curling iron, dressy shoes, shorts, jeans, tshirts and makeup.

I am waiting on my spanx, my drivers license renewal, and the logo for my MMC shirt. I should have it all by Friday. :hippie::hippie::hippie:

Are we there yet????:dance3:

:rotfl: I'm debating whether to bring the pirate outfits, or just wear our Pirate t-shirts and a bandana that matches Paul's. ;)

We are doing a bit of both. Wearing pirate t-shirts with pirate accessories. My hubby does have a Jack Sparrow costume. But hated the hat well hated the whole out fit cause it was too hot and itchy. My husband is really a princess in disguise. Cause he can not sleep if there is one crumb on the bed :rotfl:

We are wearing Pirates of the Caribbean T-Shirts (can't remember which movie they are for) as we are at Palo that night so don't want to have to get too dressed up after dinner!

I sincerely hope that's what my darling daughter says about me!!! :teeth: ::yes:: :thumbsup2

Updates on Hurricane Earl:

From Bernard at Bernard Tours on St Maarten:

Glad they weren't too badly hit...didn't even know about it!:confused3

Tomorrow is my doctor appt. and I hope I get wonderful news like Dennis. I will keep everyone posted because you have all been so kind with your input and experience - greatly appreciated.

Best of luck Sandi, will be thinking of you

I know exactly what you mean! There are CMs like that for us as well. Daniello worked at Cove Cafe for a couple of years and we just loved him. He calls Dennis "my brother" and taught Dennis a bit of Tagalag (sp?) each time. He was a server on our last cruise and so was quite busy, but not too busy to stop and give hugs. :grouphug: And our first cruise...2 young women in Sessions treated us SO nice. Goy from Thailand and Paula from Chili. They even sent a bottle of French wine to our stateroom the last night! :lovestruc I'm sure that cost them more than the tips we gave them!! This was a cruise that was sailing about half full and often we were the only ones in Sessions and we so enjoyed having them stay by our table and visit with us. Then a couple of years ago we met Sondra from France, again in Sessions. It was her first trip, first time away from home. She was such a sweet girl and really missed her mama. She said although she loved it, she did not think she could sign up for another contract. The last night of the cruise she gave us a small bag and told us to open it in our room and that we would "understand what it meant". It was a Romeo e Julietta cigar that she had purchased. What wonderful memories they have given us!!

Lovely stories which show how special some of the staff are :goodvibes

Whilst I am sure my daughter thinks it, she would probably have to be extremely drunk(very unlikely) to say it like that, and on FB as well.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Sounds about right Marilyn!:thumbsup2:rotfl2:
