Maybe we could have our own informal DVC information session. I'd be happy to share our experience owning DVC as well. We've been members since 1998.

We bought one of our contracts on the cruise and got a great deal.

Kristi

I'm not surprised about Westgate. David Segal :snooty: has been tightening his belt quite a bit lately, even selling his unfinished - what was it, 80,000 square feet :confused3 - home. His wife wanted to be an actress princess:, so he once bought her a movie to act in; my DW did the makeup for that one (don't look for it at Blockbuster - it didn't even make the "B" movie list!). Interesting aside: every one of their children (5, if I remember correctly) has the same birthday as his; they deliberately arrange it that way. :scared1:

We'll have to get together on board and have a little DVC frank and honest discussion :grouphug:. Just so noone is scared away, it can definitely be a great thing depending on what you want out of it as long as you know the whole truth going in. :goodvibes

I will totally take you up on that! We have a Westgate TS and would like to sell it as they are no longer working with Disney for the parks. We can do a cruise through them, but not at a great savings. They were in with the park hotels for all of 3 months when we bought, and of course, that was a big deal for us.

So, if the benefits were right and we could sell that, we are interested in the DVC... However, I want the good, the bad and the ugly upfront with this one...

An informal DVC discussion would be great......:goodvibes

And my standard reminder... If you haven't posted a picture please send one in so we will recognize our DIS family!!

Done! :thumbsup2

For those of you who are concerned about forgetting something or require something extra for the rest of the journey there's a MORRISONS supermarket only a short(about 10 mins) walk from the terminal....

....I understand that good vodka (and Rhum) can be had for £7.00 ($10.86) per Litre.

Wow - wish our Morrisons was duty free! ;) Thanks for the info.

valbob - That sounds like your friends experienced a commonly reported scam in Barcelona. I have heard many people talk about being told they have something on their clothing, or that they have sat in something, just before they have been robbed. :sad2:

Sadly, the well-dressed "helpful" gentleman was part of the scam and probably was the one that squirted the ketchup in the first place.

Thanks Michael! I appreciate it! We were definitely "TimeShare virgins" so to speak and it just isn't what we were hoping for... Not giving up on the idea, just looking for a real picture of what is out there...

I was looking on the US Postal Service website about shipping to Spain and something caught my eye- you can't ship playing cards to Spain. Weird?!?

We have been DVC members since 2002 and will talk to anyone that wants to listen about it. The good, the bad and the ugly.

We have an issue with the football jerseys- do we go BLUE or go GREEN? I love Michigan's football program as they usually lead the Big 10 but in 2 years I am transferring from our community college to Michigan State since we live 15 minutes from that Campus. What's a girl to do?

Strawberry FE participants: I really need the full names (first and last) of everyone in your cabin ASAP. Thank you to those who have already responded!

I probably should have mentioned for anyone who doesn't know the name that David Segal is known as the Timeshare Magnate in Orlando - he owns Westgate and several other timeshare properties.

Or Greece, lol. I used to work the Post Office desk in our store and would skim the postal restrictions book, it was very fun and sometime very odd.

Thats what you get for skimming... The urge to eat peanutbutter and chocolate candy!!! Maybe it was a sign.... You could change you user name to Buckeye Candy... :lmao:

That's funny!!! Maybe you should, especially since I seem to recall you saying you really don't like candy apples!

MMMMMMMMM........peanut butter buckeye candy!! I want some!

BuckeyeCandy.jpg

.....I literally get sick. So if I greet you and then don't hug you any more after that, it is only because you are wearing something that gets to me and could start a migraine.....

Oh that must be terrible to have to deal with every single day. I really hope you can be migraine free for 2 weeks!! :thumbsup2

....We have been busy getting my husband's company that he is starting up and running and I haven't had a chance to read......

I'm really excited for Darrell! :goodvibes All the effort will be worth it!

Just noticed that we have added a country to our website! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

We had our first family from Spain register. I havent seen them post on DIS yet, but they have also sent in a photo! Glenn has reached out to them and extended an invitation to join the group here. We hope to see them post soon!! But, in the mean time, Monporma, if you are lurking out there...

:welcome:

:cool1: Sí! Bienvenidos al grupo, Monporma!!!

....We're back from a small weekend camping trip in our pop-up.....

It's been a bad week: hit part of our roof/car port structure....our trailer battery stolen....hit my hand at the hospital....diamond flew out of my ring....injured my hand.....annoyed a co-worker at work severely....I didn't mean to do....annoying bank matter....job unendingly stressful and consuming....

I keep joking that the cruise is going to be so fantastic, and nature likes a balance, so she's just giving us these petty annoyances ahead of time to right the balance for our trip to be totally fabulous!....

Geez, girl! When it rains it pours! Cheers to a new, better week!! :drinking1

I saw this adorable Tinkerbell Disney Cruise dress on ebay. I thought it may fit one of your princesses.

..... Surgery on Tuesday. Hopefully home late afternoon or early evening Tuesday......

Oh yes! Please someone snag up that sweet dress! It's aDORable!!!

In case you're not on tomorrow, know I'll be thinking about you! Stephen, please keep us posted!

Done! :thumbsup2

The other one that has caught my attention is the lady that throws the baby to you... You drop everything to catch the would be infant and someone scoops your stuff up... The baby ends up being a doll, and you end up empty handed. I keep telling the family that I wil not catch any flying babies... :)

Really, I think that being city smart is the way to go. I know we went ver all of this in part 5 or 6... I should go and find the posts with the links to helpful hints... That is one downside of having this besy of a thread...

Bring both!! Change half way through the game... Sorry - not really helping am I?

Here it is:

MS Disney Magic

Avda Ports D'Europa, 100 3rd Planta
Edificio Service Center
08040 Barcelona
Telephone: +34.93.298.4614

Fax: +34.93.298.4612

Packages must arrive 2 days prior to embarkation. List the following on the outside of the package:
Name
Sail Date
Ship
Stateroom Number
Packing list must me attached - if single item, list contents on outside of pacakge.

As I mentioned, the post office was quoting 10 days for first class (and priority is about that amount of time as well). I went through the options with the PostMaster (that ought to teach her to come out of her ffice) and first class was the best for us. I could have done global express - but at about $45 or so for the magents I just couldn't see it. Not to mention that there is still a stop in customs.

Thank you!

Do I need to get a Mickey Mouse paddle to hold in the air?:rotfl2:

A paddle would be a good idea, but I think it should have an eagle, globe and anchor on it so we know who you are, since that's the icon we're used to seeing associated with your name!

Hello all,

I believe there are quite a few DVC members sailing on this cruise. We have been looking into DVC for quite some time and wondered if from past experience if there were better incentives for buying in to DVC onboard?

Not a member, but I sat through the presentations in December and January and from talking with others before and after, it sounded like the incentives were good. We're not buying anything until DH has a job, but that doesn't stop us from listening. Plus I won a $300 OBC on my last cruise from the DVC presentation so I actually made money by attending!

I was looking on the US Postal Service website about shipping to Spain and something caught my eye- you can't ship playing cards to Spain. Weird?!?

Does it have something to do with gambling? Time to go adjust the FE gifts for the kids if I decide to mail them afterall. The cards were only going in if they got mailed, so looks like that's a no option at the moment.

I'm obviously very behind on the board.

I talked to 1 of my daughters teachers last year about it and the Principal (who gave me a little bit of a hard time.) I also e-mailed the truency officer to make sure that I wasn't going to be ticketed when I got back. I explained that my girls are only going into 1st & 3rd grade and that last year they had perfect attendance and that we plan to do some lessons on the ports. She responded that it sounded like a wonderful and educational trip and thanked us for letting her know.

I was soo worried about what she would say and she was the nicest out of everyone about it. :confused3

How do you even know who the truancy officer is so you could email her? I think I'm going to email his teachers later this week.

We talked to both kids schools and neither had a real issue. The vice prnciple did try and tell me that I had to take her... :rotfl: Then at the meet and greet we talked to each teacher that we knew he was assigned to and everyone thought it was a great opportunity. his social studies teacher wasn't too happy - but then after talking to us was really OK about it.

Last year they did tell us that Stephen would need to keep a blog about the trip so that the class could follow along. So, we will both be blogging while on board. I figure that we can get a small package, type it all out ahead of time and then just cut and paste into the blog once on line. We will not be adding photos unless we find free wireless and a good connection somewhere - or the connection on the ship is good.

I think we are lucky. In middle school, there isn't really a ceiling oin missed days of school. But, once the kids are in HS, there is a 8 days and you have to repeat rule. So, this is the last sha-bang for family vacations that are not in the heat of summer for a bit...

I like the blogging idea, but we are not bringing a computer and definitely not spending the money for him to spend time on the computer. I might see if they want him to do a journal.
That's funny!!! Maybe you should, especially since I seem to recall you saying you really don't like candy apples!

MMMMMMMMM........peanut butter buckeye candy!! I want some!

Now, this is just cruel and unusual punishment. I gave up eating anything after dinner and this looks good enough to just reach into my computer and eat it. I'm going to bed hungry again tonight.

KIMBERLY!!!! STOP!!! You are making me wonder if I have what it take to make the 1-2-3 recipe!!! YUMMY!!!!

Thank you!

Your very welcome for the address!

I have a sign that I may try and fit in the suitcase! It is DCL all the way, but no anchor on it...

Noel, Will this tour and the Madeira tour be added to the Events website or will we just note it in "on your own" portions? I think it would be nice if they could be listed after all the hard work you and Betty have done. Just my thoughts on the issue. Val

Val, great suggestion!! Just added the St. Maarten information to Post #2

Are we supposed to dress for one of the teams playing or just wear OUR favorite teams jersey even if they are not playing??:confused3

Please wear YOUR favorite team jersey. As Michael noted, most game times are not even posted as yet, and even if they were, we have no way of knowing who will be on the stations we receive on the ship.

Of course, I'm hoping for the Buckeyes, and one thing I have in my favor is that they like to play at noon whenever possible. I think this has to do with the fact that if they play at noon, the tailgate drinking begins at 8am; if they play at 4pm, the tailgate drinking begins at 8am and if they play at 8pm, the tailgate drinking begins at 8am.
