Oh, and we stopped at a roadside fruit place and bought a box of peaches. Now I will be making peach jam and whatever else I can think of with these. Yummy! DS has already ordered a peach cobbler and Dennis wants a peach pie. :thumbsup2

We are home from our 2 day trip to WA state. Dennis is already in bed, still not feeling very well. He is really struggling with his eye sight. This is evidently a rapidly growing cataract and he was trying to read the Sunday comics when we got home and just gave up after struggling with just one strip. He also had me drive the whole trip, which is really unusual. He loves to drive the mountain passes....me not so much! I'm glad he has just another week before he gets it fixed. He also has been struggling with a cold for several days. That's what he gets though for bragging that he has not had a cold in 2 years now! :rolleyes1 Poor guy. He will be all fixed up soon though and will be ready for those sea days! :thumbsup2:goodvibes

I've caught up on all but the last 13 pages....:surfweb::sad2: Of course there will likely be many, many more when I wake up....Good morning, European friends!! :)

Sorry to hear Dennis is under the weather!! I am sure glad he has his surgery scheduled in another week. Hope his cold get better quickly.

You sure make the most yummy things. I love peach pie. My other favorite thing is a peach milk shake from the Pine Shack in Chester!!

So it is 10:15 pm and I am not tired (usually winding down and heading to bed around now), but no desire to keep working on things for the cruise. I did send a photo for the website. I am really bad with my photos i) I don't have many with me in them and ii) I just download them to a server at work sometime after I get back and then don't do anything with them. So I grabbed some and put them up on facebook tonight since I did not have any albums.

You should live here in Woodside. At Stanford Shopping Center, the majority of the clothing in the stores is 0, 2 and 4!!

How nice!
Im not kidding... we have walmart, k mart, JCP, and Dillards.
Next closest shopping is 60 miles away!!! Or I can do a long day trip to Vegas(150 miles one way).:rolleyes1

Annie:rolleyes1

Tristan turned 11 months yesterday...

Well, you will just have to make a trip out here just to shop!!

Thanks for the tip about the BBC. Never spend any time in downtown LA anymore since Bullocks Wilshire was gutted so can't comment. Usually spend time in Santa Monica, Malibu Huntington Beach, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, or Pasadena area.

I love HB... Howard went to HS there, and we both spent many years getting those Cali tans there. Shopping there is still right up my alley.
Fav place: Jack's surf Shop!:worship:

Brethern and Sistern, I have an idea!

Now, don't get frightened. I admit, it's in a strange place, but it's not dangerous, and might even be fun.

I propose that we first nominate, and then vote for a Friend of Tinkerbelle! This would be a person (or potentially a couple) who have spread the most pixie dust among the guests on the Magic before and during the WBTA. There are several candidates from among our number, but first let me explain my thought:

First, think about who has done the most to help you, to help us all, enjoy our cruise. They have spread pixie dust, and therefore are doing what Tink herself does.

Next, watch your fellow travellers - who is helping others? Who is spreading fun and joy? Who has earned our appreciation, our love, our respect?

Then, we need someone who has artistic talent. That wouldn't be me - I can't draw a straight line with a ruler and a pencil! We need someone to design a certificate, or a trophy, or some kind of award. It must feature Tink, and it must be magical. Other than that, anything goes. I will be leaving home soon, but am willing to underwrite ANY (reasonable) cost to produce such an award.:yay:

And, I'll admit, I don't really know how we'll all vote - many of us won't be online on the ship. So I'm open to ideas. Do we convene a meeting to vote? Do we buy Drinks of the Day with different drinks indicating a vote for a specific Friend? I have no clue - I told you my idea was in a strange place! :rotfl2: But this could be fun!

Finally, this must be lighthearted, fun, and a joy to all involved. Those who are nominated must be pleased. Those who nominate must be proud. And everyone should take pleasure in honoring one another - as it says in the Bible. It must not degenerate into vote-grubbing - we get enough of that elsewhere.

Whom would you wish to honor?

I nominate su_kraft :cheer2: :woohoo: as a Friend of Tinkerbelle, for all her tireless work on all of our behalves!

Any other norminations?

See You Real Soon! :flower3:
Richard
Sounds cool......
I would have cried too..esp at lack of pics! Well done you!

OH YES! We are off with the shoppping list, esp for the laundry liquid/tabs and Sun tan lotion and Shampoo/Conditioner..al the weigh heavy stuff.

Oh yes...lets all shop for the necessary crap

Oh yes! Do they do PINK CHAMPAGNE?

Am concerned :scared1:
:thumbsup2thats funny.
All this chat about pickpockets in Barcelona has made me think back to the only time I have ever been pickpocketed .... you'll never guess where I was .... in Disneyland Paris !! In the preshow for Honey I Shrunk the Audience to be precise !! Now I never expected to experience this inside a Disney Park, but you can never tell. Hopefully none of us will have any negative experiences in Barcelona ::
doesnt surprise me.

This sounds awful and you probably picked the worst cruise you could have done for this. We were on the last cruise before the Magic went into dry dock in 2008. While we were on the ship, they tore up and replaced all the carpets, they varnished a lot of the woodwork and started to paint the public areas. There were always some strong chemical smells around.

Corinna
We were on the 1st one out of dry dock and it was the exact same, vowed I would never do it again,oh well.
Oh My!!! DH is organizing an event!!!! Be still my heart...
:rotfl:
It doesn't have to be a blokes thing but is on at the same time as the ladies tea which was why I thought making it a blokes thing made sense!
Im not going to tea.
Sorry, I love you ladies, but tea and cake or football and beer:rotfl2:
Its a no brainer.
i guess like anywhere it has nice places

i was shocked how dingy la was
Everybody told me it was like that so It was kinda what I expected.
I hate to hear that people are afraid to enjoy Barcelona. Don't let fear keep you from enjoying travel. Most of what we hear is blown out of proportion to reality. It seems every place I have traveled to has been cited by friends and family as "unsafe". I have never found it to be true once I got there. We all must be careful, of course. That goes for our own home towns. We are just more familiar there and so, don't worry as much. One person"s advise I always trust is Rick Steves. I have used his guide books for numerous trips and he has never let me down. This is what he says about Barcelona: "You are more likely to be pickpocketed here - especially on the Ramblas - than about anywhere else in Europe. Most of the crime is nonviolent but muggings do occur. Leave valuables in the hotel and wear a moneybelt."
So I will follow his advice, which is basically to go out and enjoy all that Barcelona has to offer, but be careful. I do that at home also.

Rene
I agree.
I have woken up from my last night shift before the cruise and I am very tired after only 3 hours sleep in 48 hours so I am sorry if I have missed anything but I really do not have the stamina to read through the 10 + pages you have all posted since my absence ..... I apologise if I missed anything important, and if someone could just point out any essential highlights from the last 24 hours I would be eternally grateful ... thank you.

Normal service resumed as of now .....

Only 9 shifts to work until the cruise
I have 13 nights to go.......
So, with all this talk about being sold out, I thought I would try again on the DCL site to see if there is anything available. This time they did show CAT 11 and some oceanview (I didn't check the category available here).

Anyway, after booking the first day available for silver people back in October 2008 (in a CAT 11) I have found that after paying the fuel surcharge (and of course not getting it refunded), after two years - I have saved a total of $10.50 by booking early!!!! :thumbsup2
Some you win, some you loose, the price could have went up also:confused3
When we booked switzerland last year it was a thousand pounds each, we booked it over a year out, when it was time to pay the balance( 8weeks to go) the price had went down by 200 pounds (same as the deposit/very convienant) Its annoying but its a gamble to book so early.

from what i have heard they all take euros but the exchange rate is poor

lol whats the thoughts after gibraltar the ship sinks from the extra weight of shopping bags:lmao:

pirate:Maybe the pirates will come and plunder us............

I love HB... Howard went to HS there, and we both spent many years getting those Cali tans there. Shopping there is still right up my alley.

WE loved , I think it was Ventura beach, would that be correct, Malibu was vvery busy, so was another place we went that I cant mind the name.

I wanted to post this close to the cruise so many will read it. If you see me and I don't respond to you this is why....please do not take offense,,,

I get the occasional migraine so you have my sympathy - mine are usually stress related. I rarely wear any perfume so you will be safe around me :)

Do not ever ever go shoppping in the far East..all clothes are tiny tiny tiny and short. I was very traumatised .............however SHOES and HANDBAGS/PURSES are the same world over...go for them

I foolishly decided to try buying new swimwear in Sumatra (Indonesia) when we visited from a very expensive (for Indonesians) shopping mall. I was mortified to find that most of the swimsuits were too small and I finally found a couple of XL ones that fit - I'm a UK10 (US6)! When Mum asked for herself, the sales assistant just laughed.

In Vietnam, I had my bottom patted a few times by ladies in the market - they were envious of my rounded bottom as they are very slender compared to my western figure.

I believe there are quite a few DVC members sailing on this cruise. We have been looking into DVC for quite some time and wondered if from past experience if there were better incentives for buying in to DVC onboard?

We are DVC members and love it. Haven't found a downside for us yet. Make sure you check out resales too - you can get some good prices at resorts that Disney typically aren't selling. There is advertising on the Dis for a reputable seller. Happy to also discuss how we use membership if its any use.

Hey you chatty bunch! Hello!

We're back from a small weekend camping trip in our pop-up. I am going to take a lovely bath soon to wash away the weekend's grime but first I thought I'd quickly catch up - ha! 30 pages since we left on Friday!?!

It's been a bad week: hit part of our roof/car port structure as I slowly rolled out pop-up out of the driveway. We had to immediately go purchase and install a wall jack to avoid the carport from coming down. We got to our camping site at 11pm - we still went to avoid disappointing the kids but leaving to go camping at 930 at night was not fun. Now we have to do the real repair of replacing the supporting structure for our carport (which is a major portion of our roof, is all tied in together). Argh.

We also had our trailer battery stolen at some point in the past, and discovered it gone this week. Argh.

I hit my hand at the hospital and a diamond flew out of my ring, and I injured my hand. Ring is currently being fixed. Argh and ow!

I annoyed a co-worker at work severely (we usually get on very well) for something I didn't mean to do, and I'm feeling the strain of our relationship being wounded. EEk.

We had a very annoying bank matter than is ultimately fine, but was as bad as banks usually are, compounded by a rude overseas operator who had a very bad connection and was very frustrating to deal with. We can get back that two hours of our life correcting that problem! Sheesh.

And besides that, work has been unendingly stressful and consuming, and juggling everything seems too darn hard these day.

I keep joking that the cruise is going to be so fantastic, and nature likes a balance, so she's just giving us these petty annoyances ahead of time to right the balance for our trip to be totally fabulous!

I am sooooooo looking forward to meeting all of you so soon! Yay! Sorry to hear about the doggy who ate the fishing line. Poor, silly thing. I hope the surgery all goes well and she heals up very soon.

You poor thing ..... hope all of your problems are sorted out soon and that you can finally relax and enjoy the build up to the cruise. Sending :hug:

Glenn

There are 2 of us from Wales .... Sarah Gizmo and myself ..... wonder why it only comes up with 1 :confused3

My favorite combo--peanut butter and chocolate!

Andrea

oooooohhhh .... mine too

Could we take this a little further and do nominations like wayyyy back in high school.?????

Most likely to cry at a drop of a hat

I would definitely win this one on a Disney cruise :rotfl2:

Poor Dennis .... sorry to hear he is still feeling poorly and having worsening eye problems ... sending :hug: and hoping that the surgery sorts everything out for him. It sounds very frustrating.

WE loved , I think it was Ventura beach, would that be correct, Malibu was vvery busy, so was another place we went that I cant mind the name.

One of my oldest friends(we known each other since we were 5) lives in Ventura... love it there. And a great place to take our OC2 or do an OC6 race.

Annie:rolleyes1

Excellent, thanks! If possible, could you add that it depends on weather (i.e., not if it's raining), and that people should bring a beach towel or two to cushion their hands and knees?

Thanks,
Richard

No problem will do!

Trust me, I don't like this at all, I feel awful when it happens. I remember wearing Jean Nate and would literally douse myself in it. If I offended anyone, I wouldn't know cause I felt I smelled great!!! Now I only use certain Bath & Body products and I mean only a few of them!!!

Okay, back to fun stuff!!!!

Terry Im sure it wont offend anyone and definately wont offend me!

Back from 2 weeks doing Eastern Med on Ruby Princess.

Loved the Greek Isles, beautiful ports, incredible weather.

Glad we tried something other than DCL, the ship was beautiful, but truthfully too big for us (3600 passengers). Princess was very nice but won't be taking our vacation dollars away from DCL :) Although I do wish DCL could do Movies Under the Stars like Princess and get a real popcorn machine.

Now I am looking forward to catching up on this thread and planning this cruise.

Now the question is, was it me or Sarah that registered as Wales????
