I know just what you mean, yesterday at the gym, I counted I used 6 different products, none of them makeup, after all the stuff I used in the shower. I was wondering if I think I need this stuff because I'm older and falling a part or because I've believe all the junk I hear on television. With the length of this cruise you can't bring travel size stuff. I'll need a darn suitcase just for this stuff!!
val

I am with you there!! I was just looking at all the toiletries that I use as well today. No way to take travel sizes for 3 weeks!! A lady must look her best!!

OhMy Gosh....
Are you talking about me ???:rotfl2:
Howard swears my middle name is "Over Packed":rolleyes1

Annie:flower3:

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Some years ago we had a caravan to go off on vacations in, and I would just scoop up almost my whole wardrobe on their hangers and hang everything in the caravan wardrobe. No room for anyone else's things. On top of that I had baskets full of everything else filling all the spare space. I have always overpacked.

We are peas out of the same pod. I keep thinking, what if.....

That's the BEST kind of shopping!!! :goodvibes :cool1: :thumbsup2

SO, one of my plans for this cruise was to improve my camera skills so decided last week to purchase a couple of additional lenses - until I saw the price, OUCH!!! Looks like it'll be one lens and a book to study this time...

Rather then buy the lens, why don't you rent the ones you are thinking about buying? Or even rent a better lens. Some places offer month long rentals, although they still won't be uber cheap but less than buying the lens. It allows you to have access to those expensive lens you might not own, need, want on a daily basis but want for your trip. Some also rent tripods, flashes, cameras, camera bodies, etc.

The photography board should be able to direct you to an online rental company if you don't have a local place nearby. I know some places might allow you to use some of your rental cost toward the purchase of a new camera or lens within a certain period of time.

John and I are off to a back-to-back ophthalmology appointment, he at 11:30AM and me at 12:00PM.

I am sure I will come back to 10 pages!!

This worked fine for us until we caravanned through the Western Isles and I needed space for the outputs of the distillaries :):):)

Well I am just off for my last night shift before the cruise .... so tomorrow I will be happy happy happy :banana:

I've just Googled lens rental as I didn't know such a thing existed so thank you very much for pointing me in this direction... :thumbsup2

Has anyone checked out the port of Gibraltar on Google earth? If you look at the cruise ship berth you will find the Queen Elizabeth II cruise ship, it's about the same size and tonnage as the Disney Magic.

:beach: Many of you have mentioned how you don't like the sand. Perhaps some of you have heard of this trick already. If you put baby powder on you while you're brushing yourself off, the sand will just crumble off your body. I know...I know....one more thing to pack! For those of you in the US, you can get a 1.5 oz bottle of it at Bed Bath & Beyond for $.099....I just saw it this week in their travel sized "stuff" display.

....At first I thought you were asking if they would possibly drop prices to clear out inventory before they head into drydock. Then I realized (I think) that you are wondering if perhaps they will have enough inventory on the ship for those who want one of the bags!.....

OHHHH I know they won't be reducing prices to get rid of inventory. Well, maybe TA specific stuff they will towards the end of the cruise, but certainly not otherwise!

...Tonight I am working my last night shift before we leave for Barcelona ... just can't wait to get that out of the way. Then I only have 9 working shifts until we leave !!!!

Yeah!!! It's one more of those "last times" milestones that means we're so much closer!

Hi everyone.....having a hard time keeping with all the stuff with dd going on at home......so just wanted to say a quick 'hi' .....this cruise can't come soon enough!:rolleyes1

....:banana:Oh.....on a brighter side I went shopping today......in my wardrobe!:rotfl: (sounds like Narnia!!):lmao:
I can now fit into 5 more pairs of shorts and a pair of cropped cargo trousers.....plus several tops and a dress! :dance3:....

So I do have something positive to post after all!:dance3:

:hug::hug::hug::hug: I was thinking about you yesterday wondering if things are looking better. Hang in there. We're thinking about you!

I'm glad you had some positive news to dance over! Congrats on the free shopping!!! :goodvibes That's awesome!!

Home Depot! :thumbsup2

:lmao: Weren't you also the one who stated you wanted to change the topic from Spanx to power tools? Arrrrrr (in a Tim Allen voice) :)

I don't think I could manage with just 1 piece of luggage, Sarah!!! ...It's all the flippin' toiletries/skin stuff I have to take....

I'm trying hard not to take 3!!! I just can't imagine taking one suitcase! I can fill one up without any clothes in it whatsoever!

.....I just bit the bullet and paid extra (for excess luggage)...

...we paid less than $100 total for both of us.....I shouldn't really complain as we are using United points to get to Frankfurt and flight only cost us $5 USA dollars total.....

I'm still amazed at how well you did with your flight and hotel savings!!

From the very beginning I put excess baggage allowance in my cruise budget, so I'm just biting the bullet as well. I'm just trying not to add that third piece now with my new dress! I may be going to Target this week to get a cube-shaped travel Space Bag try and stuff it in there. It's going to have to be steamed anyways when I get on-board!

I am taking note of all of those with a high weight allowance and loads of bags so I know where to come to borrow stuff when I run out of outfits :thumbsup2
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Perhaps we need yet another list with people who are taking far too many clothes and will lend them!!!;)

:rotfl2: Too funny!

We, (Ann), Have democratically decided we are taking 4 pieces of luggage - paying for two extra bags.

Off to weight lifting classes :rotfl2:

:rotfl: :rotfl:

What I do with the extra toiletries that I pick up in my travels is donate them to a battered women's shelter.

Wow! What a brilliant idea many of you have. Why hadn't I thought of that????? Seriously, Kimberly. Geez!

....Oh - Becca would love it if Tinkerbell paid her a visit... She has no interest in wiggling the tooth, so it very well may happen.

Wouldn't that be the most magical thing that could happen?

The idea of Becca loosing her tooth while we are cruising reminds me of a story that I read here on the DIS some time ago that had may of the readers tearing up over. A DD had lost her tooth while they were sailing, and the DW happened to mention it to the stateroom host/hostess simply as a topic of conversation telling him/her that her DD was just so excited the tooth fairy was going to visit her that night. When they got back from dinner, there was a trail of shimmery pixie dust that led from the veranda door to the bed and nightstand. There was a signed picture of Tinkerbell for the DD sitting on the bed along with something else (I don't remember what though). Anyways, that was incredibly special and absolutely unprovoked! That's the best pixie dust one can get!

This worked fine for us until we caravanned through the Western Isles and I needed space for the outputs of the distillaries :):):)
:lmao::lmao: No such problem for us.;)

So, so true!!

Well, speaking as a pea, I think I should have been freeze dried about 20 years ago!

And miss 20 years of a great life?;)

Well I am just off for my last night shift before the cruise .... so tomorrow I will be happy happy happy :banana:

Hope it goes well and uneventful.
