Now this is going to be the laugh of the week!

I was talking to my DSIL the yesterday and mentioned my dress search and the horrible results from some stores... pimp and hoe night.
The she said ... we did that!
YUP... her and 5 BFF's and 1 DH went on a cruise and dressed that way for formal night

She said she would show me her pic when we see her in Orlando!

Now please dont blame me if you just spit your coffee all over your computer!

So i thought I did not get the email but then I read a post where someone mentioned it was in their SPAM mail. So I logged on and checked the SPAM folder and sure enough - there it was! Bottom line, you may actually have the email - just not where you would expect to get it. Not that I planned on buying anything but it was just nice to get an email regarding the trip.

Nope - same price - we bought those before the cruise last time too - hubby decided he did not want to go so I used both days.


Truthfully the reason that I buy things ahead of time or put on board credits on is to get the 6 months no interest on my Disney Visa - see if you put it on the card BEFORE you go on the trip you get this benefit - but anything you put on the card ON the trip doesn't - I found this out after our first cruise - and by doing it a month ahead of time for the cruise we also get disney points to spend on the cruise from our things we prepaid.

Now here is what I prepay

Water Package - it is nice to already have it in the room when we get on board (we do not really drink alcohol but we do drink water and I know the water on board is just as good but this is something hubby wants to do so we do it - I will pay $1.66 per bottle for it - but refuse to pay $65 for a bottle of wine I can buy for $20 stateside (we both love Rosa Regale and will bring a bottle of it for the cruise)



after that I just add up the money for the following and put it as an OBC:

Pictures
Excursions
Spending money for the kids
Spa treatments we have booked
Palo meals
and a little bit for extra's

This helps us budget also - then on board we use a different credit card that gets us points for other things if we go over

So, if you use Disney Visa to put money in ahead of time as an OBC this counts as 6 mo same as cash, but if you pay with Disney Visa onboard to settle your account, this does not count toward 6 month same as cash?

OK yes they will go where you want to go but they tend to have a set route so will check when you get in where you want to go and then take you in the best route. You can definately do the cave and the rock.
Were doing DCL just because I did it last time and I know that Dan will enjoy it but taxis are just as easy.
I would definately go up the rock and see St Michaels cave! Its breathtaking!

We're doing this one with DCL as well, the explore the rock on your own package was very reasonable.

I'm so glad the ride is being refurbished when we get to WDW. Sorry, but I can skip it this go around.

I thought that they premeired movies at midnight the first day that they would show in the US - someone please correct me if I am wrong... I really want to see Sorcerer's Apprentice, so I hope it is showing!

On the ship we lose a kid (DS) for most of the time thanks to OQ and the other part of the time... I love the time I can sit and relax at the adult pool... Not to mention that they work hard to make sure that I have as good a time as my kids, and that helps!!

Don't wait to see the Sorcerer's Apprentice. It was great I do enjoy the adult time we get, but there are many times that you have to drag them out of the kids club kicking and screaming just so you can spend a little quality time with your family.

I am not totally sure but from the way I read it you can pick a bottle from a set list for the package ...or pick 7 bottles for the 7 night one. It works out at $27 per bottle and I am not sure how much individual bottles are if you buy them separately. Does anyone have a wine list from the Magic ??

$189 for some dinner wine!?! I think I'll stop at El Cortez in Barcelona and stock up and carry a tumbler to dinner

Might go for the 6 bottles of water and the rainforest passes for a couple of days.

Undecided about the wine package ... is it better value than purchasing individual bottles ??? Anyone worked it out??

We did the math on our first cruise, and it seemed like a very good deal for the wine we were drinking. The issue (on shorter cruises) is that you have to drink a bottle a night (or double up one night if you miss dinner or want something else) to get them all in. You can take unopened bottles off the ship, but they count against your customs allowance (and who wants to do that.)

Is the rainforest pass cheaper than buying onboard?

No. And someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think anything is cheaper in advance than when onboard. Some things (like gift shop items) are more expensive (since they add $1 to the cost.) And as someone mentioned with the picture credit package, you lose the flexibility of upgrading that you have on the ship. In my mind, the advance purchase items are best used for gifts, especially when given by people not travelling on the cruise, though just giving you money would be more efficient/effective.

I know this is the case when you put the gratuities on your Disney Visa. I do that to get that VISA benefit (though it isn't as great as it used to be since they changed the credit card rules, which means you effectively only get 4 months no interest now).

We can just invite but some people just never respond. I think the thread moves pretty fast for some people and they get intimidated. I guess they think we all know each other which in the beginning many of us did not know anyone.

They just don't realize how friendly and welcoming people are whether you post a little or a lot.
