Ann says we are three doors down. I assume that means John is close. Do we need a male tranquility collective?
Help, we are now debating whether we need to check for two extra caes.
Yes to the 2 extra cases.

Since quite a few of you are posting how long you have been married, I thought I would share some news that I don't believe I have shared before. Joi and I got legally married in Washington DC on March 14 of this year with our grown children and our daughter-in-law as well as all of my family and a lot of friends in attendence. On March 15 we celebrated 23 years together. We would have had the ceremony on March 15, but it was too hard to get everyone there on a Monday. We are using this cruise as our belated honeymoon, if you can call it that afer 23 years.
Mark and I met through the DIS 8 years ago, became friends and married a year laterLasting friendships and soulmates too are found on these very boards!

Oh I know of another DIS couple who's cruising with us!!!I'll let them share their story though!!
Just dropping a quick note to say goodbye for the next 10-14 days.
UKANGEL - thanks for the you tube site. LOVED IT!

Ok - well thanks to Marilyn I have Esta`d! According to Moneysavingexpert we are going to be charged for this from September. Price is uncertain but probably $10+, not enough to stop us Brits visiting the USA
I thought I`d better have a look at our reservation on the DCL site and it says we will be getting onboard credit for the fuel supplement. We booked with DVC points. Anyone else get this message?
Anyhow we`ve booked three excursions as DD and I really liked the ones we did on the Baltic cruise and the prices aren`t bad.
UK Angel - glad your DD is doing well, it sounds like the same situation with my DD last year. Continued good wishes.
you're welcome, they're wonderful videos aren't they?
Wow! You should write this as a short story or novel!
Speaking of novels, for all you readers spending time in Barcelona, I highly recommend "The Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. It is a mesmerizing story set in 1940s Barcelona--part thriller, mystery, history, romance. The book and Zafon are VERY famous in Catalonia (the Spanish state that Barcelona is the capitol of).
My husband, Greg, and I love Barcelona and this book. In fact, I think we'll take a Shadow of the Wind walking tour this time.

Just dropping a quick note to say goodbye for the next 10-14 days. The packing up has started with a bang. The garage sales are done. The bin is still in front of the house and I keep throwing more stuff into it. They're coming to collect that on Tuesday so gotta move, gotta move, gotta move!
All things working correctly our movers should be arriving next Saturday morning. We'll load their truck and then watch them drive away; hopefully we won't be too far behind them. Looking forward to a stop in Phoenix at a favorite restaurant over there; Barrio Cafe. From there on to Las Cruces, NM to visit a night with one of my brothers and his family and then on to someplace....not sure if it'll be Laredo, TX or McAllen, TX to cross the border to head to the new digs. We're HOPING that we'll be in San Miguel de Allende by either Thursday or Friday of the next week. The dogs know somethings up cuz we NEVER clean a house like this!
I'll try and catch up with y'all on the new installment - hopefully you won't be on No. 8 by then!
Oh, and if y'all decide to have another type of drink tasting, put us down for it!
Until we next check in with you, be well, be safe, and enjoy life.
Adios y hasta luego!
Michael
I, for one, am glad you posted. Everything else is usually top notch and I would rather be informed so that I can take precautions than assume that DCL would be prepared. At least now I know that if something happens, it can be serious. For all I know, I might have waited, if something goes wrong and it might be too late. On our first visit to FL, my oldest DD (about 12) at the time, got so dehyrated after 1 week there, that upon entering Universal, she got sick but I didn't notice. 1 hr after getting in, we ended up in their clinic and were in there for 3 hrs. They finally recommended we go back to our hotel room and hyrdate her. I had no clue. We live in SoCal and she plays sports nothing like this had EVER happened to her. I felt bad but really, I didn't realize how bad she was until after the fact.
Also, we have been on board when there have been medical emergencies and other more drastic events. I guess I need to pay more attn to that and realize there's a reason they call for back-up. I must never forget CC and first PC cruise.

Thanks for the reminder, especially around kids getting dehydrated.
Just a quick note to everyone who posted their thoughts about DD and the blood clot. We believe as does her physician that the clot was cause by taking Yaz. She is fine now with no restrictions.
All of us need to be diligent in our pursuit of quality health care. If you don't agree with a diagnosis get a second opinion. If you have an HMO, get the patient advocate involved. You would be surprised how much help you can get if you are persistent.
Just my thoughts...

Have you considered testing for factor 5 leiden? It is a very common gene to carry and pre-disposes one to blood clots. Even on BCPs blood clots are very uncommon in young people.
Nordkin- congrats on the marriage! That's terrific!
On another completely different tangent, has anyone had any direct experience with laser eye surgery? Considering getting it done before the cruise. My work as a midwife means many 24+ hr days with my contacts in and I am blind without them. So frequently I have severe discomfort, and I have an astigmatism that makes night driving taxing (and getting worse). My opthamologist thinks I am a good candidate but that I should do it soon to have some years before I need glasses again for reading (I currently don't). I know about the risks and complications, just wanting to hear other people's experiences. Thanks!
....

UKANGEL, read "The Angel's Game."
Like "Shadow" much better. "Angel" is darker, more violent and supernatural but still a good read.
Safe travels and I hope you move goes great!

Yaz has seemed to have caused quite a number of blood clots in young adults. She did have genetic testing after the incident but I don't know if she had that specific test. Since she is unmarried at this time, I don't think she has to worry about getting pregnant but I will file this information just in case.
She had been on BCP's for about 6 years of a different type which had helped her acne etc. Physician had just switched within the last two months before blood clot. She now has an IUD which is rare for a woman who has never had children, plus was approved by HMO because of the specific BCP issues.
I had this message too. I wasn't sure how this worked since we also booked with points. I wonder how much the credit will be!?!?
You could try melatonin or an OTC antihistamine like Benadryl.
I`ll phone them tomorrow as I want to add requests for dining. I`m always a little cautious as on our last cruise we got a letter saying we had an onboard credit for $525. After I`d stopped dancing I read the letter further, I realized it was for the stateroom next door![]()
Congrats! on the 25 years! My DH and I celebrate 17 years on July 24th! I think we will have lots of fun couples to play Match Your Mate!!! That is always good for a laugh.
The kids have travelled to Florida before, which is about 20 hours. This trip will be 34, so I'm hoping they will stay awake for the first flight to Singapore, Sleep to London, they stay awake to Barcelona, then if need be they can have a quick arvo nap, then we can make the HRC meet. Plans don't always happen like you want them to though, so we'll see....Your kids have much longer flight than ours do... I hope that they are able to rest!!
I posted there a while back as well. I may hold off and order at the last possible moment so they can be returned if needed. The kids will eventually sleep, and the excitement of Spain will be enough to keep othem going (and going, and going). But I need to be able to rest and sleep to be able to keep up with them, and enjoy the day...
Is it legal in the middle of the Altantic Ocean? Or maybe one of our ports? I can be your flower girlNordkin----congratulations on your wedding. I do remember reading about that on the LGBT boards a while back. That is fabulous. Jason and are "patiently" (or not so patiently, actually) waiting for NY State to follow the lead of MA, IA, NH, VT, CT & DC (and half a dozen non-US countries) so we can do it here, too!
Sounds interesting, I'm up for anything and everything.I don't know how to play either but I love learning new games!! I'm also willing to teach my family's favorite beach card game "Hand & Foot." Which we renamed "Crack" because it became so addictive over the course of our vacation!
Carry on dear DDIL, oh does this make you a DDDIL perhaps not, all the Ds make it appear indecisive. Ill pop in now and again but you are carrying our banner with honor, dignity and courage.
Maybe we should get some of the guys on "DIS patrol" to be sure the kids get their pics first since Todd is one of "ours". What do you guys think?
Until we next check in with you, be well, be safe, and enjoy life.
Adios y hasta luego!

I actually do have quite a few dresses that I can wear but does give me a an excuse to go shopping!!![]()
I am laughing because on one of my other cruise forums, a "newbie" got so addicted to DIS that her husband managed to post one time while she slipped away for a minute - "please feed me." Well, we all had a laugh about that and thefairy tagged her with - Please feed your husband.

It has been a busy weekend prepping for the cruise. I cleaned out my closet, tried on clothes and my gowns....Will neeed a seconf formal gown.....
Today Dsis and I went grocery shopping at Walmarts, Costco and Sam's. To say I am tired is an understatement!
Off to work on FE gifts and maybe do a little web surfing for tour ideas.
....Is it legal in the middle of the Altantic Ocean? Or maybe one of our ports? I can be your flower girl....
....Now that's going to confuse people! They will never guess in a million years!![]()
I will do. I am not planning any long distance trips before then but I am going to try them in the car and see if they work there for a 5 hour drive.
Were living in hope that 3 cases will be fine. We did Disney with 2 last time for 14 days and Dan's already said "can't we just take 2"! Planning on taking a bag too so we can have 4 if needs on the way back as we're allowed 4 (in 2008 we got cornered for a $75 charge because our 1 case was over even though we only had 2 cases and could have had 4! Not doing that again!)
