ATTENTION ALL DANIEL TAXI MADERIA TOUR CRUISERS:

Just heard back from Daniel Taxi.

The only questions are I think that is still unanswered is if someone did not want to ride either the toboggan, would they have time to see the gardens?

I assume we ascend the cable car to Monte, then take the toboggan back to Funchal. Is that correct?

Also, if people are going back to the ship and not wine tasting will they have an opportunity along the way or in Porto Moniz to taste the honey cakes? I have emailed her for a response.

I have also addressed her question about posting in a PM to a DIS board moderator.

Anyone have any more questions or comments or want to change/add to itinerary?

Hello Noel,

Sorry I kept you waiting so long again, but now I’m all yours J.

Below this last e-mail, I copy-pasted your other e-mail from early this morning and I’m now answering both e-mails at the same time.

No problem about the e-mails you’re sending me. I’m very pleased to assist you and your group on whatever may be necessary, after all… this is my job and I do this all the time. In fact, it’s only with good communication, that we can provide a service as perfect as possible and that will meet our clients’ wishes and expectations.

Ok, so the big bus is definitely out. You have good points there and I surely agree.

Thank you for the link to the DISboards. I had a quick look already and I enjoyed it so much, especially as you make reference to us. And I was amazed at the huge number of pages you manage to have in a short space of time.

I’d love to take part in the DISboards’ chat, but I must know if I’m allowed to speak freely businesswise. Do you know what their rules say about this? I’m asking, because on Cruise Critic I’m not allowed to deal with any business matters at all, I’m not even allowed to recommend any local businesses. In case I can speak freely on the DISboards, I can answer your tour companions directly, as I could see some questions related to their tour with us.

Oh… and I loved to see you and your husband on your avatar!

Yes, even people with walking difficulties, have taken part in the our tours, so your guest will be ok. The lady can choose to stay in the van sometimes, but on the longer stops she’ll be able to get out and be with the others.

Now, the Porto Moniz volcanic pools. Yes, you’ll have time to view them, but if some people are really interested in having a swim, we worked out a plan to enable the group to spend more time in Porto Moniz and is, basically, to stop only on the best locations. So, we suggest the following:

· Cable Car and Toboggan rides.

· Câmara de Lobos – just passing by.

· Cabo Girão – a 20minute stop.

· Ribeira Brava – passing by only also.

· Encumeada – a short stop.

· From Paúl da Serra to Santa – a short stop for sightseeing along the way.

· Porto Moniz – you’ll be able to stay there for something like 1h30m to 1h45m. The people interested can stay in the pool for about 30 minutes, before lunch.

· São Vicente – a 30 minute stop.

· Finally, back to Funchal on the express way.

I don’t think you’ll feel rushed, either by following this plan or the one we have on the website, but it’s true that you can’t do it too leisurely.

Yes, these stops are for sightseeing and picture taking. For your shopping, Porto Moniz is good, I think you’re meaning souvenir shopping, right? You’ll have honey cake, our very own “Bolo de mel”, with your wine tasting at Blandy’s. This cake is made not with bees’ honey, but with sugar cane molasses.

Noel, I read on DISboards you commenting that, even though you prefer the small vans, you also liked the idea of having a guide, so maybe you’d like to know that the drivers of the smaller vans are driver/guides. In fact, these driver/guides are the same people that accompany the groups in the big buses.

Greetings to everybody

Eusébia.

Sounds Amazing! Can't wait! And I love it that all of the drivers are also guides.

Thanks Noel for all of the emails to Daniel's and the updates to us! This will be a great trip thanks to all of your legwork! You rock! :woohoo:

And thanks to Eusebia for being so helpful and attentive to our wishes for this tour! It is greatly appreciated! :goodvibes

:welcome: Welcome to the new arrivals! Can't wait to meet everyone! :welcome:

With so many newcomers I thought it was time to repost the most recent Martini/Tequila Tastings lists. All are welcome and there is still time to sign up. Please send me a PM with all of the names in your party if you would like to participate. There are other tastings being planned and they are posted on the first page of this thread.

pirate: Hi Monica!! Yes, I was told all about the Pirate Festival - I'm SO JEALOUS!! But if I can ever get my never-ending list done and somehow move to Tampa then we will all have to do Gasparilla also!! (See how FL pirates compare to CA pirates :rotfl: )

Hey, did Trevoy find his hearing aid? And what excursions did you finally decide on? You said you were snorkeling in Tortola - is that with the Virgin Island Sail, Snorkel, & Beach Adventure?

Would love to see how FL pirates match up.

Still no hearing aid. I did finally get a hold of a supervisor at Six Flags today. He wasn't really sympathetic and advised me to go ahead and purchase a new hearing aid. To which I advised him to mail me the $2k and I would. I also talked to his audiologist who suggested that for the insurance claim possibly he 'lost' both hearing aids since she's been wanting to change him to a different model anyway.

And thanks to Eusebia for being so helpful and attentive to our wishes for this tour! It is greatly appreciated! :goodvibes

I can second the thanks to Eusebia on her helpfulness. I've actually been working with her directly to arrange a shorter tour for our family, and she's been equally helpful and has been providing good recommendations and ideas. She also offered up car seats and figured that we'd need a car seat and booster seat given the ages of our kids, without us even asking.

I have had to literally turn my head when I drive past them. Monica, its on Imperial Hwy and Santa Gertrudes if you ever want to visit it straight off the 5 fwy. Yikes, I go skimming and this is what I come across? Yeah, so in trouble. ;)

You're BAD!!! Now you know I'll have to detour the next time I drive down. Which may be 4th of July weekend. You got any plans??

She still has hers, I have moved them several times to keep the darling grandchildern from playing with them.. :littleangel:

Wow, how do you find time with Farmville and cafe world and pet world to pick up after me.;)

Thanks sis I really appreciate it. Thanks for letting rib you about Farmville. Not everyone appreciates my sarcasim. You at least have no choice, your stuck with me:rotfl2:

Thanks sis I really appreciate it. Thanks for letting rib you about Farmville. Not everyone appreciates my sarcasim. You at least have no choice, your stuck with me:rotfl2:

I cannot go a day with out you, To all who do not know she is the BEST SISTER in the WORLD...
(No she did not force me to say that)
I hear all about the trip and the planning that goes on but play my games anyway. Now I got to tend to my farm she just went to bed. Night all ;)

So have any of you ever purchased a gift card from DisneyStore.com? I have once, and it came pretty quickly. I made a $300 GC purchase along with an apparel purchase 2 weeks ago, and it hasn't arrived yet. The clothing came last Thursday, but the GC still hasn't showed up. It's making me nervous!

I love the show (Deadliest Catch). The next few shows should be very interesting and sad.
We watch this show! Although, we are a little behind so I won't see tonight's episode for a few weeks. So sad! Not looking forward to it....

I wasn't home tonight, so indeed I'll be watching it later this week. I'm guessing that as Paul was suggesting, tonight was just the beginning of the end of Phil's final story.

....I've spent the day with my sister  who lives about 50 miles from me.....I feel very lucky and blessed today, just wanted to share :cloud9:

I'm glad you had such a wonderful day!

....Goodness! Kimberly, was this the one right after the EBPCon the Magic? If so, I was on that one, which is why your name was sooooo familiar. I knew I'd seen it before. is my face red if you weren't. LOL

Sorry! I was not on that cruise. I'm sure you've seen my name on the main forum OR, come to think about it, if you ever go to the Pop Century FAQ thread, I "own" the consolidation of info in the first two posts of the thread. So perhaps that's why it seems familiar. :confused3

The Sept '08 Double Dip Delight was right after the Magic came out of dry dock (well, they did end up inserting an unplanned 3 day cruise prior). We were suppose to be an alternate Western with a stop at Costa Maya, but with the tragic hurricane they had in 2007, we had to settle for Grand Cayman.

Oh yeah - need to change my signature since Buckeye Gal stole my name! :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: :lmao: Hey! You don't have to be a has-been (ie. "formerly")! I can share Kimberly, Kimberly!! :flower3: :rotfl:

I know we have talked bras and undies - I was waiting for the spanx talk! I just got mine about 3 weeks ago and absolutely love it!! It sucks in everything....
Spanx! The topic of conversation on Saturday. My question was - "Does underwear need to be worn under them?" Inquiring minds want to know. :rotfl2: (Seriously, do you?) :) ...

I love Spanx, too! I have so many variations of the garment and in various colors!

(Oh my gosh...here we go again with TMI!) Personally, I do wear underwear under my Spanx. I'm sure that wasn't the designer's intention, but personally, I like to have cotton against my skin. I'll stop there! :rotfl2: You're turn Sandi! :lmao:

What did your friends say, Laura?

Guess what finally came in the mail today????

My income tax refund check! Now I can pay off the credit card that I used to make the final payment on for the cruise! :yay::yay::yay:...

Well it's about TIME!! I'm glad they discovered that you live in a real dwelling, not one that doesn't exist!

OMG!!!! We just booked this cruise today and I'm OVERWHELMED with all the information and activities on this thread! :scared1: Is it too late to get in on all this...

Congrats, Andrea & Greg!!!! How terribly exciting to have something new in nearly arms reach!!! There's still time to get included in many things. Don't be overwhelmed and do not be afraid to ask! There's always someone on here willing to guide and direct!

Sounds like you're experienced with Barcelona! Are you going to spend extra time there this time?

Hi all....we are leaving tomorrow for our TA on the Epic, so I'll me MIA for about a week. I know when I get back, I'll have a ton of pages to read. I'll try to check in tomorrow before we leave.

Melanie, I hope you both have a splendid adventure! Enjoy!!!

Sounds Amazing! Can't wait! And I love it that all of the drivers are also guides.

Thanks Noel for all of the emails to Daniel's and the updates to us! This will be a great trip thanks to all of your legwork! You rock! :woohoo:

Three "yes"es and nods! I completely agree on all counts, Dorothy!

...Still no hearing aid. I did finally get a hold of a supervisor at Six Flags today. He wasn't really sympathetic and advised me to go ahead and purchase a new hearing aid. To which I advised him to mail me the $2k and I would.....

I'm so sorry! I hope you can get it ordered soon and have no issues with the insurance claim.

Well, I MUST go to bed before I get a second wind and want to stay up until 3:30am like I did last night/morning.

Have a good day everyone!!

I invested $30 in a little pocket size pedometer. Has clock, step count, distance and calories burned. We have 2 huskies so they have to be walked everyday. We are usually gone anywhere from 35 min to 1 hour. Our circuits last from 1.45 miles to 2.35 miles depending on how good they have been. Bad as in they need some exercise or if I've skipped a day then I pay for it by walking for over an hour. Its amazing how much I've come to rely on that little thing. Its about the size of a matchbook but after making so much fun of me , DH has now started asking me for different routes and "how far have we come now?" So if you can, I would recommend buying one. There's a 10,000 step site on that other chat site many of us are on that gives interesting info on that. I walk a lot and the goal is 10,000 steps a day is good for the heart and to maintain weight loss. I've not come to the realization that I must increase this I do walk that much but apparantly its not enough. :rotfl:

:welcome: Best to just jump in and start posting. Once you get past 10 posts, you can PM (Private Message) and it will help you learn the ropes better. Good Luck!

Spanx! The topic of conversation on Saturday. My question was - "Does underwear need to be worn under them?" Inquiring minds want to know. :rotfl2: (Seriously, do you?) :)

Cool! On one of the WBPC's they set up a tournament style that was to host only about 20 people, but they ended up having over 30 people (guys and girls) show up. They ran it tournament style and was such a success that they even had a 2nd day which was more fun. If there's any interest in one, I can ask DH if he would be willing to do something like this. Don't hold me to it. I think the original group just held it on the Starboard side of the adult area. OOOPPPPPSsSSS....DH's is home, got to gear up the dogs as they are jumping and figure out a way to break the news gently to him if he'd be interested.

:wave2:

I was given one of those pedometers while I was doing WW. I used it in WDW just to see how far I walked on a typical day. One day I walked 9 Miles!!!!! I felt sometimes that the amount of steps it would register or even the mileage may have been off but only a little.

According to Oprah, she doesn't wear underwear under her Spanx :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

I think i have found my second formal gown...been on Ebay :rolleyes1 Hope it will fit! Sourced a Tiara to suit...so am getting done.

Working on the diet and excercise...I have 7lbs left..and some flab...to loose so I can fit formal gown no 1 lol! Now....where can I buy a corset like the one Keira wears in Pirates :rotfl2::rotfl::laughing: If I faint...please hide me from public eyes before you cut it open and let it all fall out :lmao:

Lyn

Great news on finding your dress .... I have been checking out Ebay for formal number 2 but not come up with anything so far. At the moment I am about 2 inches too wide for my existing formal and semi formal, so I hope to lose enough weight to fit into them, otherwise I will have to leave the zip open and wear a shrug :rotfl:

I have the patio open still and its boiling hot! Im loving this weather!

Me too .... we are having lovely walks along the sea front every evening and eating outside. Hope it lasts.

We're here. I had to get a DIS board 101 class to learn how to reply. We are very excited about the trip!:woohoo:

Hi and :welcome: aboard! Great to see you posting.

Good for you, where do you get your willpower from? Can I have some? :confused3

More wishful thinking than willpower .... its a lot easier to write it than to do it .... and if the weather stays nice in July / August the BBQs will be out and the willpower will be seriously threatened. I am trying to limit my social life in August just to lose weight ... so far I have one wedding and hopefully a celebratory meal out for DS if he does well in his GCSE results.

I know we have talked bras and undies - I was waiting for the spanx talk! I just got mine about 3 weeks ago and absolutely love it!! It sucks in everything. It is comfortable, but haven't tried it during dinner or even sitting down for that matter. My head might blow off:rotfl2::rotfl2:. For standing up and the "look" in the outfit, so worth it.

OK .... what exactly is "spanx" It sounds like some sort of support underwear. I have found that support underwear doesn't get rid of the flab, it just pushes it up or down and so it just sticks out in a different loacation. If it really "works" I will be interested for sure.

OMG!!!! We just booked this cruise today and I'm OVERWHELMED with all the information and activities on this thread! :scared1: Is it too late to get in on all this...Is there a summary somewhere or someone who can help condense all 168 pages of stuff to know...Help!

Really looking forward to this cruise. We love Barcelona! Gibraltar and Madeira will be new ports for us.

Hi and :welcome: aboard. We are Sarah and Tony from Wales, and it is our second DCL cruise.

Might need to invest in a pedometer .... would love one which tells you how many calories you are burning.

Have a wonderful cruise :woohoo::woohoo:

Munich is one of my favorite cities. DH and I spent two weeks there in the Bayerischerhof Hotel.

Yes, Munich is beautiful. They just become a candidate to host die Olympics again. I sooo cross my fingers!!!

Where else have you been in Germany?

Steffi.

Isn't it a term like we'd use 'flippin' or 'blasted' cleaner? ;)

LOL I've heard of it! Guess maybe a Scot/Welsh thing! Just means getting sweaty - the moment you start sweating like. I have the patio open still and its boiling hot! Im loving this weather!

Well, I actually googled the words and a Flimmer cleaner is an industrial air cleaner. So it could be that Lynne was at work at the vet hospital and they have one of these that takes all the dirt and dust out of the air etc. so, if it isn't working she would have to wet mop!!! Perhaps??

You rock for nursing twins! I nursed my three kids and sometimes it was wearing.

Our daughter nursed her twins up to 6 months(ish). Boy, It was hard as she also had 2 very active little boys aged 3 and a few months, and the other 21 months when they were born!!! Goodness, I stress just thinking about it. I think she just wanted to give them the best chances etc, though they were good sized babies.(7 lbs 10oz and 7 lbs 8oz!!!:scared1::scared1::scared1:) Bless her, she is only 5 ft 2" and looked like a jam donut!!!

I'm going to regret saying that, huh :rotfl:

Well, I had forgotten who actually posted it, but now you have reminded me!!!;):lmao:

:rotfl: What size do you buy? Well, not you personally:rotfl2:, just a guide as i have a habit of buying such things far too small, and I really don't want to lose my head!!!

Hi and welcome to this hilarious group!!!!!!

Hi all....we are leaving tomorrow for our TA on the Epic, so I'll me MIA for about a week. I know when I get back, I'll have a ton of pages to read. I'll try to check in tomorrow before we leave.

Have a great vacation. Look forward to hearing all about it.

Very comfortable. I buy mine 2 sizes bigger. Doesn't compress as tight but still provides lots of support. Very breathable and also doesn't make you feel like your going to rip them as you adjust the legs. One caution though. The seams sometimes will show up if your wearing a formfitting dress so beaware of that. Also, if bought a bit bigger, you can eat and still breathe. Good luck. They are addicting. ;)

Ah thank you. Good info there. We have so many different shapewear makes and designs, but I am sure these are the best! I just can't see me in those that go down to the knees though.

According to Oprah, she doesn't wear underwear under her Spanx :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Erm, I thought Spanx were underwear and you wouldn't need anything under, eyepatch or otherwise.:confused3;)

Steffi.

I have family in Frankfurt. Both John and I are of German heritage. My family immigrated from what is now Poland in the late 1800's but then was part of Austro Hungarian empire. There are only about 6 people in Germany that have my great-grandfather's last name and we are all related.
My grandparents came to America because my grandfather who was a Catholic married my grandmother who was a Lutheran and both families disowned them over the religious issues.

John's family came from the Erlangen and Nuremburg area to America in the early 1800's. His great-great grandfather was a Lutheran minister sent to found a church. His great-grandfather was a soldier who left the military and became a doctor in America. John is named after him.

My grandparents spoke what is called High German and John's family spoke the Low German being from Bavaria. My grandmother actually grew up here in the USA speaking German at home, at school and in church until WW1. I spoke German as a child but lost the ability as I did not speak it in my teens.

We have visited many cities in Germany. We have been to the major cities like Berlin, Bamberg, Cologne, Freiburg, Hamburg, Heidelburg, Karslrue, Nuremburg, Erlangen, and Stuttgart. The company John and I worked for did a lot of business in Germany back in the 1980's and 90's. One of our fondest memories was a Rhine cruise we took back in 2000.

One of our friends who lived in Munich had a house in Tirol, Austria which we drove to with the family. We stopped in many towns along the way whose names I just don't remember.

I have always felt very much at home in Germany. The people are friendly, open and full of life.

Just my thoughts...

Cool!

We now live right in the middle between Nuremberg, Erlangen and Fuerth.
I was born and raised in Regensburg (Ratisbon), which -for me- is the most beautiful town in Bavaria.

I know we have talked bras and undies - I was waiting for the spanx talk! I just got mine about 3 weeks ago and absolutely love it!! It sucks in everything. You are so funny! :lmao:

I'm trying to figure out what to pack...for all of those who have done a TA before, would it be ok to wear capri pants or do you think I should bring long pants? Mind you, I don't get cold very often, I'm usually warm to hot all of the time. I know there is still time, but I figured I'd ask while I'm thinking about it. :)
What!?! You haven't packed yet, are you kidding :rotfl2:

Underwear, Hmmmm, I suppose if the spanx have a cotton crutch I wouldn't, If they are all lycra I would. :confused3

Goodness, I was talking to DH about OBC's for 2012 for the plat level and I clicked on the DCL site. I just saw the advantages. 120 day out booking, free dinner at Palo's and waiver of the $15 fee, free photo fun package and priority check-in at the concierge level. I might finally get to check in at the Concierge desk as I will NEVER sail in a Concierge suite if DH has anything to do with it. He likes the bat cave AKA inside cabins. WOO HOOO!!!!

Sometimes, it the little things in life that make me happy. :cutie:

That would make me happy, I have a way to go though, since this is our first cruise! ;)

I missed the laundry meet post... Don't know how as we aren't very chatty... OK, Im back to reality... Sign me up, middle of the night, I am guessing deck 7 - I hear that is the largest of the laundry rooms?

I haven't tried spanx as yet... But if it sucks everything in and is comfy I am all for it... Although we also have a "feel like a sausage" comment... Someone want to be the tie breaker?

OK, Deck 7 laundry at 2am, bring Mickey bars (or cheese platters and wine?), what night/s?

Sue, go and try on some Spanx, they really make you feel like you've been poured into a second skin which is far too tight! :scared1:
DH Terry thinks that Spanx are 'false advertising', LOL :rotfl2:
Having said all that, they do work well and I would wear them If I needed them for a specific dress or occasion. :thumbsup2

Hi all....we are leaving tomorrow for our TA on the Epic, so I'll me MIA for about a week. I know when I get back, I'll have a ton of pages to read. I'll try to check in tomorrow before we leave.

We'll try not to talk too much, :rotfl2:

Still no hearing aid. I did finally get a hold of a supervisor at Six Flags today. He wasn't really sympathetic and advised me to go ahead and purchase a new hearing aid. To which I advised him to mail me the $2k and I would. I also talked to his audiologist who suggested that for the insurance claim possibly he 'lost' both hearing aids since she's been wanting to change him to a different model anyway.

Something good may come of it then, I hope so!

According to Oprah, she doesn't wear underwear under her Spanx
She would know! ;)

At the moment I am about 2 inches too wide for my existing formal and semi formal, so I hope to lose enough weight to fit into them, otherwise I will have to leave the zip open and wear a shrug :rotfl:

More wishful thinking than willpower .... its a lot easier to write it than to do it .... and if the weather stays nice in July / August the BBQs will be out and the willpower will be seriously threatened. I am trying to limit my social life in August just to lose weight ... so far I have one wedding and hopefully a celebratory meal out for DS if he does well in his GCSE results.

OK .... what exactly is "spanx" It sounds like some sort of support underwear. I have found that support underwear doesn't get rid of the flab, it just pushes it up or down and so it just sticks out in a different loacation. If it really "works" I will be interested for sure.

Just get yourself a pregnancy extender. :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:
Oh, BBQ weather is hard, potato salads, garlic breads, key lime pies, yum.......It's winter here, Just as bad, We just had Roast Lamb with all the trimmings for dinner, YUM!
Spanx are exactly what you thought, I think Trinny and Susannah brought out a similar range in the UK. I need one that goes from my ankles to my neck to stop the dreaded flab overflow! :rotfl2:

Well, I had forgotten who actually posted it, but now you have reminded me!!!;):lmao:

Erm, I thought Spanx were underwear and you wouldn't need anything under, eyepatch or otherwise.:confused3;)

OhNo, I really need to learn to keep my mouth shut! :rolleyes1

LOL - that is dedication to the pie!

last year at work I convinced a bunch of people to go in on a pie order with me... We ordered 20 pies from Giordanos, next day delivery. They come par baked and frozen on dry ice...

I need to do this again - it was awesome!!!

Doesn't replace the hot, fresh out of the oven , gooey cheese but it is really good none the less...

Sue

We LOVE Giordanos...when we come to Florida we like to order from them on the first night :cool1:

We're here. I had to get a DIS board 101 class to learn how to reply. We are very excited about the trip!:woohoo:

Hi there! Mandy & Mark here, from the UK, on our 7th cruise....5 with DCL :cool1: Look forward to meeting you!

Guess what finally came in the mail today????

My income tax refund check! Now I can pay off the credit card that I used to make the final payment on for the cruise! :yay::yay::yay:

I'm trying to figure out what to pack...for all of those who have done a TA before, would it be ok to wear capri pants or do you think I should bring long pants? Mind you, I don't get cold very often, I'm usually warm to hot all of the time. I know there is still time, but I figured I'd ask while I'm thinking about it. :)

Capri pants would be fine! And yay! for your tax refund!:cool1:
